Guards at the beginning

I found a really cool map and it has a problem. There is a “boar sited” area and second the the dread wolf problem. So on this map, in year two, I have lost at least four peps and the rest are walking around wound.
I would like to have two guards that settle with the peps at the beginning to deal with the problems. (I do not really do I want this but losing 50% of labours is too much. ) Another idea is just let the wild life to chill until year three or five?

My first play through I settled next to three wolf dens thinking they’d be nice to farm.

Foolish.

The only solution is to settle father out and handle them once you grow stronger. I recently learned you need a barracks to clear their camps which requires gold generation that doesn’t happen until Tier 2.

I did suggest at least being able to command a peasant to wield the weapons in storage without needing a job. Perhaps adding a ‘Patrol’ command alongside having them armed would satisfy what you are after ?

The only difference between a soldier and a villager is their equipment, after all.

The map that I was playing did not have much room to move, Alpine 4ab1fc3ab73. So not as foolish.

Two (or more) hunters can solve the boar issue if controlled manually. It might be a bit annoying to babysit them, but hunters are available from the beginning and a good answer to all your wildlife related problems. Three hunters clear wolf dens without big effort (at least on Trailblazer difficulty).

Maybe you could raise the alarm, send the villagers inside the town center and shoot the boars. Did thy this?

restart the map. the resources and landscape will be the same but the animal spawning points will change.

I played a map but screwed up and restarted. The second time a wolf den was directly next to the place I wanted to put my town center. Re-started the map again and the den was gone.
