Gunslinger Inquisitor what class to pair with?

I say go for it!

I’m doing a DW purifier as my first all the way character. Just finished the main log story line and am finishing some side quests before hitting expansion material. Sitting at about 16k DPS @ lvl 52. Love the dual guns. I’m sticking to fire, pierce and physical damage.

hi can you share your skill tree ? i playing Inq/Demo too right now and have no clue about the skill tree, thx :):D:D:D:D:D

I’d be interested in that build too + what your devotion tree looks like. Thanks in advance!

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/bVA4Jy72 so far. I’ll be going all the way down in inquisitor maxing deadly aim word of renewal/steel resolve and one of the auras as well as brimstone, flame touched, temper and blast shield in demo. Devotions, I’ll be finishing the magi and hydra, picking up throne and scholar’s light and finishing out with Ulzuin’s Torch.

All subject to tweaking as necessary.

Leveling, I started with 10 levels of demo then 10 of inquis and flop back and forth every 10 levels. I also started this character in the crucible, leveled up to 18 to get 10 devotion points before starting the main campaign.

So from skimming this thread, it sounds like Cadence’s third shot from Solider overrides rather than works with the ranged weapon techniques of the Inqusitor? I was kind of hoping for piercing ice and lightning bullet spreads, oh well. My second thought was the more natural combination with Druid for the lightning buff, I guess I’ll see how it goes.

Regarding the Vindicator, I’m wondering whether one is “supposed” to go dual-wield or two-handed, or if they’re both viable. I base this on the fact that there are epic pistols that are Vindicator-friendly (q.v. Mythical Orwell’s Revolver), but for legendary, one has to go to two-handed crossbows for specific Vindicator support (Mythical Evoker of Elgoloth, Mythical Raka’Jax). Probably a matter of how important Primal Strike (with or without Thunderous Strike) and Word of Arms would be.

(It would help if I could figure out where in the armor database specific Vindicator support is hiding, if anywhere.)

EDIT: Okay, found the Mythical Light’s Defender equipment. Lots of lightning support, but I’m surprised there’s no frostburn support, given how Stormcaller’s Pact works (q.v. Rune of Hagarrad); I was hoping to design a Vindicator that relied on both damage types to some measure.

Maybe I should look for epic sets, as well…

Me neither, but it’s fun trying it out. I’ve got a L43 Mage Hunter with maxed Ranged Expertise, Bursting Round, Chilling Rounds, Storm Spread, Aura of Conviction, one point each in Inquisitor Seal and Arcane Empowerment. For Arcanist only a point in Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange so far, but working my way up the mastery to get Overload, Element Balance, Maiven’s Sphere of Protection, Conversion and maybe some points in Arcane Will and Mental Alacrity.

Demolitionist is the best pair with inquisitor i guess( ranged class)

good idea. You actually got me thinking along the lines of non skill based options, and Shard of Beronath popped up. gives you a scaling basic attack (much like shamans Savagrey), plus it’s all elemental focused. could be what I’m looking for, and it opens up skill points to use elsewhere.

You could use Mistborn talisman as a filler until your high enough to use the Shard.

Demo rocks with DW guns no matter which way you go  . tough to beat the fire strike line for serious damage output. Only limitation is it locks you into fire and chaos damage for the most part (little bit of lightning).

I started another Inq, this time with Demo. it seriously mows down early mobs. I may not get too far though, as my main was a demo/sorc, so I’ve sort of already been down that road. Was hoping to use some of the other guns I’ve found in the process. just had a mythic exonerator drop, So that may decide it for me (Inq/Shaman).

Here’s an Initial Vindicator build I was thinking:

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/d2jBe5q2

I picked the Inquisitor Exclusive due to it’s defensive nature over the shamans. since I’m trying to push towards more mobility, wendigo is not an option, so I’m using the exclusive for it’s DR (phys DR is nice), plus the Inq’s heal. Tenacity of the Boar will help out a ton here as well. I went lightning box over Grasping vines since it synergizes with the elemental types I chose. No devotions yet, though I’ll probably tend towards Rhowan’s crown and Blind Sage…I like their effects. although Hand of Ultos is pretty nice since I’ll be focusing on Lightning damage. Blind Sage rocks when attached to your primary attack.

EDiT: after starting a few Inquisitors, I find that early game is allot esaier to level with then storm box, especially if you can throw on a few fire/cold boosts. spammable, damage ticks faster, and it is easier to target (area rather then mob). For some reason, it seems like storm box doesn’t want to trigger for me at times…could be a line of sight issue, but I still find it easier to spam WoP while im kiting around then trying to target with Storm Box. I’ll probably switch over to SB when I get higher, and my bonuses make it worth switching over to.

Either that, or I’ll skip storm box entirely and go with wind devil. not sure yet. Wind devils takes a bit more points to invest, but I think overall better damage and less management. SB just feels finicky to me…could just be my playstyle tho (run around screaming like a little girl spamming everything…usually)

For an default attack, at level 25, you can get the Mistborn Talisman, and use the Troll Rage ability. At level 55, you can get the “Shard of Beronath” rune, which will free up your relic slot for something else.

I personally just went with Apostate, as it gives me a chance to figure out the two new classes abilities for future builds. It is working pretty well, but I likely will be doing an Inquisitor/Demolitionist build next.

I believe Fire Strike fully skilled ends up being slightly more Lightning than anything else. Static Strike is a LOT of Lightning damage so FS is mostly Fire/Lightning then Chaos in second. I’m really liking my Purifier build so far but most of the new Inq itemization has a lot of pierce on it so I’m using mostly old Demo gear at level 59.

To the poster who asked about Inq/Shaman, you almost certainly have to go 2H ranged as Feral Strike/Upheaval is just too good to pass up as a proc.

For my dual wielder I’ve put Serrated Spike/Vicious Spikes on one gun and Hell’s Bane Ammo on the other to give me electrified and piercing weapons boosts - the skills are toggled so turn them on and forget them.

I saw alkaizer playing an Inquisitor gunner on twitch but he rarely does any guides for his builds, the damage is pretty good too. If only someone can do a proper purifier gunner build.

From what I’m reading so far that’s correct, too bad.

The Mistborn Talisman is probably better than Cadence anyway.

114% weapon damage on every attack, and 110% of 233 raw physical damage once the charges are up, and it doesn’t disrupt your procs.

The balls-out awesome bit about cadence with a gun is that - with the right modifier skilled - it turns every third shot into a railgun. With some good positioning, you can deal serious damage to many enemies, even dozens of them, without being reliant on a specific item that allows for piercing. I doubt Trollrage can keep up with that.

Let’s not forget that Cadence %WD and flat damage far outshine any of the current ranged WPS + Troll Rage combos
I think only Deathedealer WPS comes close
