Hey all, this is my first post on here so apologies for any poor formatting.
I’ve been playing a winds of asterkarn/TSS Evoker but am finding that having to stand still on top of an enemy while being unable to see the floor isn’t very conducive to surviving on ascendant. As such, I wanted to switch things up without having to level another character, and I was drawn to the new Awakened Soulflayer which gives aether conversion for both Wereraven and Panetti’s Replicating Missile plus a bunch of bonuses to both. Now I am not particularly versed in making my own builds yet in grim dawn, so I’d love some feedback on what I have cooked up so far.
This seems pretty good to me with the large amount of resist shred and generally decent looking stats, but I imagine my gearing choices are suboptimal given I basically just slowly trawled through the item database for each piece as I don’t have the encyclopedic gear knowledge like I do in path of exile lol. I also only really have a basic idea around what stats I should be prioritising and what numbers I should be trying to reach in them, as I’ve only got a few hundred hours in the game. I have also not included any ascendant affixes so of course the build could be more powerful, but I need something that can actually play in ascendant to get the materials for that. I also did a full stash wipe on the release of FoA so I’ve got a bit of farming to do lol.
I also am not sure whether the intrinsic abilities from wereraven are even going to be any good as I haven’t actually tested this in game, so theres a chance I just use wereraven for the buffs and free up some points. I also definitely don’t think the devotions are anywhere near good but the devotion system is not something I’ve properly got my head around yet haha.
Hopefully this will also be survivable enough to actually farm ascendant, but I’m worried the health might be a little low.
I’d appreciate some critique or other ideas around how to make this sort of thing work, or improvements to my gear choices as I don’t really like them. If you’re playing an aetherbird I’d also love to know how you’ve built it even if it’s very different.
as I mentioned in the post I am going to see whether the wereraven abilities are any good, and if not I will remove the points to put somewhere else, so yes for now I do plan on using cold snap. The TSS/Winds of Asterkarn build that I am playing probably will be enough for ascendant but I am still farming up the gear and not really enjoying the playstyle that much.
But yeah, Winds of Asterkarn + TSS can be a bit clunky because one has to wait 1 second for the storm to get full radius. Hopefully they will modify that in a future patch so it builds up quicker (I have a feedback thread in my to do list)
Noted on the breakpoints, I didn’t notice that was even a thing (again, pretty new to buildcrafting lol) but it’s fixed now.
If PRM is going to be my spam skill, would i want some form of leech on it (i believe there’s a helmet and some gloves that give that) or is my passive regen with all the bird form buffs going to be enough (its like 1000+4%hp/s)?
And yeah I’ll look at what it looks like with the helmet.
Awakened soulflayer adds weapon damage to both ice talons and PRM so both can leech with it, which is why it was a consideration.
There’s a good chance that cold or even lightning with Stormcaster’s Beacon would be better, but my reasoning for aether is the fact that I think it’s cool lol, and I kinda want to make it work. My goal is not really for it to be the best possible thing to do on evoker but for it to be good enough for the harder content while being interesting.
Oh I already have soulflayer, I have been playing pretty hardcore and I enjoy grinding so gear won’t be much of an issue, I’ve already rebuilt up a stash of a few hundred awakenable items/legendaries. I have like half the legendaries in that grimtools, I just want to finetune the build before I try to farm the others.
I’m also very used to terrible gear transitions and complete jank from my PoE builds so I’m also not worried too much about user friendliness or ease of transition.
