[FoA 1.3.0.3] Beginner build guide Cold Caster Evoker with the Awakened Eastern Set

Winds of Asterkarn + Trozan Sky Shard Evoker
(Berserker + Arcanist), build guide for beginners & playthrough diary by me

image

The goal is to make a build from scratch that can do some end-game content like shattered realm (SR) as high as possible, skeleton key dungeons, ascendent mode etc.

We will get the awakened eastern set Awakened Eastern Oath - Item Set - Grim Dawn Item Database to make this character as dope as possible!

End of guide build(s) >>

Evoker, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator (latest update, decided to use Olexra flash freeze for crowd control - it does not work on bosses)

  • Weapon, off-hand: TSS bonuses
  • Belt, rings, amulet, medal: physical resists
  • Armor: health, resistances, DA etc

Another version Evoker, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.5) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator from this thread [1.3.0.5] Evoker cold Winds of Asterkarn experimental build

It is not the most high-end build version possible, but it is rather easy to do and not so much RNG. See it as some kind of “league starter in Path of Exile" - good starter if you have no items and little experience with the game but will get you to a point where you can farm gear pretty efficient for upgrading this one or to make new chars later on :damage_cold: The “target fantasy build” is waaay stronger and can deal some serious damage!

Start as werewolf, respec to wereraven and with its own native skills (ice talons and cold snap). A bit later when we have more skill points and items with some +skills, we will blasting with the final setup skills: Winds of Asterkarn and Trozan Skyshard (TSS). We’ll start transitioning to Winds of Asterkarn around level 40ish once we have the helmet Death’s Whisper hood Death's Whisper Hood - Rare Caster Helm - Grim Dawn Item Database and the caster off-hand Groble Frost Effigy Groble Frost Effigy - Rare Off-Hand - Grim Dawn Item Database and finally adding Trozan Skyshards around level 70ish.

Winds of Asterkarn is a channeling skill, scales with casting speed - that summons a large whirlpool of chilling air around the character damaging enemies trapped within. It also has a skill modifier that makes icy shards rain from the sky. Trozan Skyshard is … well more ice shards/balls :stuck_out_tongue: It is a cooldown skill, which you can nuke monsters with.

IMPORTANT
Siding with Kymons chosen MANDATORY to farm the helmet (Death's Whisper Hood - Rare Caster Helm - Grim Dawn Item Database ). Without the helmet build will suffer greatly! I will explain later how it works but here you can read about it https://grimdawn.fandom.com/wiki/Allies_Among_the_Ashes
If you screw this up in normal(veteran) you can redeem this in Ultimate (Elite we do not need to play).

There will be a build-diary with increments of ten levels, you can view these as “loadouts” in Path of Building if you have played that game and followed league starters there. Do not try to copy me 100% but see it as “aha he did this I should probably have something similar”. The most important items to get etc will be mentioned and highlighted.

In the other sections, there will be hints and tricks for how to make this char from scratc like farming etc, and a section with gameplay videos and further upgrades.

Level 1-10

Go berserker first. We start with fooling around as a werewolf until we can get wereraven instead. Use feral claws for hitting and rip and tear for big kaboom/movement. Very simple gameplay.

Level 10 for me: Berserker, Level 10 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 11-20

Now we have the skill points to go wereraven, so visit the spirit guide and make char skills look like this instead at level 12 Berserker, Level 12 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Blast cold snap for many mobs otherwise use ice talons. Energy cost will go up, so use your skills wisely. We do not have to kill every single little monster on the map, just heroes and bosses. Most of our experience comes from completing quests and devotion shrines.

Because wereraven skills does use flat weapon damage, we can use a caster off-hand with energy regen (main weapon only needs to have +% cold dmg). Rings and amulet with energy regen and resistances, and caster chest armor. Now, because raven does not use weapon damage we can not use flat energy leech.

Remember to cast Rallying cry frequently so it is always up and running.

Attributes: we will mostly spend them in physique for now and a few into spirit. Keep about 10 unspent in case you need them to equip stuff. Later on, we will get attribute respec potions.

Ring to get: Slith Primal ring from quest

Slith Primal Ring - Rare Ring - Grim Dawn Item Database

good resistances early on and some minor energy regen.

More ways to manage energy:

  • caster offhand with reduced energy cost
  • “of insight” suffix on green items
  • polished emeralds in gear (increases spirit and thus energy regen)
  • Ectoplasm components in gear (will start to drop in act 2)

We picked up Bonechilling cry. It has low radius now so we won’t be using it much.

Once we hit level 20, we can craft two coldstones at the Blacksmith (hopefully you have found Angrim yet… or took Duncan doughnuts)

https://grimdawn.fandom.com/wiki/Coldstone

Level 20 for me: Berserker, Level 20 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 21-30

After killing Warden Kreig you are invited by the Emissary outside Devils Crossing to go to the Forgotten Gods expansion area. We have no items “waiting for us” there so we will just progress in base game campaign.

For this part of the game, getting bleed, pierce and fire resistance will be important.

The goal now is therefore just to progress and getting a relic. This one is very good for starters “Bone talisman”, I would say it is mandatory
Bone Talisman - Empowered Relic - Grim Dawn Item Database
it is from the quest “The lost elder” select the option “no I did not find a talisman” and you’ll keep it for yourself.

image
It can provide a small dmg and energy regen boost in combat.
Put the skill “mana infusion” into your skillbar so you can use it when you need. Like this:
image
without it, we will run out of energy quite often unless we have “of insight” suffix on gear.

Level 30 for me: Berserker, Level 30 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 31-40

Just keep blasting, making sure we put point in mastery-bar, upgrading our armor, keeping resistances decent, crafting some components here and there and following the devotion plan.

For “act 3” we need to up our poison and aether res. We can get poison res as Berserker via “Icebound”, modifier to Amatok’s pact. Even with 80% poison res the mini-boss Ravna’s first phase can take you down in 2 seconds

Aether res, use temporary gear, we need this for the Amalgmation mini-boss. Try to buy stuff from vendors and put it on. After the Ravna-fight we do not need as much poison res anymore. We can also craft some components like this one Aether Soul - Component - Grim Dawn Item Database (check Devils Crossing faction vendor for the blueprint) and/or this Runestone - Component - Grim Dawn Item Database (check Rovers faction vendor for the blueprint).

When you are in Homestead and did not kill Isaiah make sure to check out his shop now and then to see if he sells resistance potions. They can be handy to use in certain situations.

When we are done in Homestead and heading north-east we will have to worry about chaos resistance… this is because we can encounter the mini-bosses Bolvar and Zaria. They can one-shot you if you do not peak chaos res.

Isaiah saves the day!
image

We can also craft this component Sanctified Bone - Component - Grim Dawn Item Database check Homestead faction vendor for the blueprint.

After killing the Amalgamation, it is time to side with Kymons chosen via this quest offered by Ulgrim https://grimdawn.fandom.com/wiki/Allies_Among_the_Ashes
If you fail to select Kymons chosen (i.e. you took Death’s vigil instead, you have a chance to remake this choice in a later difficulty, but then you have to start over Kymons chosen reputation again…). TLDR: SIDE WITH KYMONS CHOSEN it is MANDATORY!!!

You wanna seek out the sanctum of Kymons chosen in Sorrow’s bastion and do their quest until you come to this one https://grimdawn.fandom.com/wiki/Master_Ravok,_the_Death’s_Whisper this mini-boss will drop the helmet needed for transitioning into Winds of Asterkarn skill. This quest can be handed to you after completing the quest where you kill Bolvar (good luck with that).

Also, good luck with Zaria… watch out for her crystal spawns.

Get this sword Spectral Longsword - Rare One-Handed Sword - Grim Dawn Item Database
from this “secret” vendor https://grimdawn.fandom.com/wiki/Benevald_-_Strange_Wares
preferably with +% cold damage.
It will make our raven abilities deal more cold damage by converting some of its pierce damage into cold damage (which we scale up).

Once we get to Fort Ikon, speak to Scout Avins to start the Fangs of Asterkarn expansion! Inquisitor Creeds stupid missions can wait… we wanna farm some items for our build! Specifically, we wanna farm this caster off-hand Groble Frost Effigy - Rare Off-Hand - Grim Dawn Item Database which together with the helmet from Master Ravok (you did side with Kymons chosen right? And killed him? It is ok if it did not had great rolls, we can and will farm a better version later). Anyway, that caster off-hand can drop in the area just before we get to the Kurnhold. So put on your mittens, it is gonna get cold!

High cold resist and freeze duration reduction is quite important in the first part of FoA. Hint: use the hoarfrost potions you will be given  Also frozen heart in ring/amulet and a dense fur component (craft) can be good!

Level 40 for me (before transitioning to Winds of Asterkarn skill)
Berserker, Level 40 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 40 for me (after transitioning to Winds of Asterkarn skill) (we had to put many points into spirit for this)
Berserker, Level 40 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
We really need Arcanist asap to get more spirit and energy

Level 41-50

Next up is to grab Arcanist as our secondary mastery, making us an Evoker! Arcanist has some good stuff early in the tree, like a passive skill that increases our spirit, and the panic button Mirror of Ereoctes.

We will now go back to the “base game” and continue with Inquisitor Dreegs quests. Once we have finished Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods campaign in normal, we can progress some more FoA content. But the goal was to get a Groble Frost Effigy caster off-hand, and we did.

Item upgrade: Spectral Bludgeon - Rare One-Handed Scepter - Grim Dawn Item Database
can drop in the undead caves in act 2, like spined cove and arkovian undercity. So we will go back and farm one with as high +% cold damage as possible. This is not really needed, but we do not need the pierce to cold conversion from the sword anymore. Skip this if you want for now.

New amulet, can be farmed from Sylvarria in ugdenbog forest Sylvarria's Root - Rare Amulet - Grim Dawn Item Database

Also this ring can also drop in ugdenbog forest can be useful if it rolls with god mods! Living Ring - Rare Ring - Grim Dawn Item Database

We managed to finish Bard’s harp devotion! It will help a lot with energy regen.

Level 50 for me Evoker, Level 50 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 51-60

With our damage skill Winds of Asterkarn maxed out, in order to deal more damage we are gonna dump points in icebound and bonechilling cry. Also bloodfrenzy for casting speed. Later on we will switch that skill to mental alacrity. For survivability we’ll grab points in Mavens sphere of protection.

When you get to Malmouth Resistance faction in Swede Hideout/Steelclap district, grab a few of these potions - they will help a bit in the final part of the Ashes of Malmouth DLC.

Master of Flesh was a piece of cake, just stand and channel your wind. Evade the third phase sunder debuff (he flies up in the air and lands with a slam) and you’ll be fine. Use mirror of Ereoctes if you get hit by it.

If you are close to becoming honored with Malmouth Resistance faction, try to kill some more aetherial vanguards to become honored and can do more quests for them. Otherwise, move on to Forgotten gods DLC

In the Conclave of the three, select to side with Bysmiel. You will get reputation for the other factions too but just not as much. We really want Bysmiel augments and some other gear from them later on.

We killed Korvaak pretty easily, just beware that he becomes almost immortal when he only has a few percent health. Make sure you have Mirror skill ready to be pushed here if needed.

See if you can get some of the cults to honored and do more quests for them, otherwise go back to Fangs of Asterkarn DLC.

Do not do Riggs quest “Paying debts”, finding the Iris of eternal night, until you have gotten the quest “Righting wrongs” objective “Slay Grand Magus Morgoneth” from the Noktukari faction in Fangs of Asterkarn DLC. In this way, you will save a skeleton key, time and yeah you will kill two birds with one stone!

Continuing Fangs of Asterkarn DLC, once you get to Ulos springs, farm the crabs there for a +1 Berserker skills belt
Calcified Sash - Rare Belt - Grim Dawn Item Database
with good resistances (they always roll with pierce res). I did not manage to get a good one my first try, will rerun this place later.

Level 60 for me: Evoker, Level 60 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Level 61-70

Got 5 ashes of awaking materials from the chieftain in Kurnhold, yummy.

Item upgrade Bloodbound Vestments - Rare Caster Chest Armor - Grim Dawn Item Database you can buy these from the NPC Dulgirr in the Black Citadel.

After we the Glacial Grotto we can start looking for this medal Frostplume Crest - Rare Medal - Grim Dawn Item Database

you can rerun these areas until you get one with good resistances and other mods. The drop from the birds. Take the Aurora Peaks riftgate and then search for the birds north and east of it. Then go to Bitter wind riftgate and search for the mini-boss “Avinnia” and all the other birds in that area.

Make sure you have found Elderveil to access the second faction (Noktukari) in FoA. I will not show you how this is done here (it is a hidden area). It is very fun to find it yourself, otherwise there are other guides for this. Start at Guardian sorrow riftgate…

Preparing for ultimate:
We wanna have at least 10k health, 1000 armor rating with close to 100% absorb, max resistances with overcap on at least elemental damage and at least 100k sheet dps for winds of asterkarn skill. Finally, high stun, freeze and disruption resistance (arcane spark is good for that).

  • Farmed new helmet
  • Farmed reputation for Noktukari for relic “Permafrost”
  • Crafted relic “Permafrost” (when replacing Bone Talisman, make sure to add points in Arcanist skill Mental Alacrity).
  • Crafted a Bersker belt (blueprint from Kurn faction vendor)
  • Farmed reputation for Homestead (revered), Coven (honored), Malmouth resistance (honored), Bysmiel (honored) and Black legion (revered)
  • Bought augments from said factions and boots from Black legion faction and shoulders from Bysmiel.
  • Did the “Hidden path” quest for skill- and attribute point.

Level 66 for me (starting Ultimate): Evoker, Level 66 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

pierce, cold and bleed resistance are way off… will be fixed at level 70 when I can use some new items and augments. It will work for the first act in ultimate. Chaos res is not needed for a while either.

Level 70 for me (with armor augments and 1 point in TSS for proccing devo):

Now the goal is to just keep going and adding skill points to Trozan Skyshard. That skill will start to deal real damage when it gets rank 22 or something so for now it is basically just a devotion proccer. Make sure to upgrade armor rating and health here and there.

You do remember to drink this potion before aetherial bosses, right?

Plan is to go to FoA area and do quests until you are at the Black citadel, then go back and finish the base game campaign and start doing Ashes of Malmouth dlc in ultimate. When Ashes of Malmouth is completed, we start Forgotten Gods dlc in ultimate.

Now it is all about getting to level 94 and getting the Mythical Eastern set
The Eastern Oath - Item Set - Grim Dawn Item Database
and finally awaken it (we’ll do that later just wear the set as it is for now).

Almost got murdered in the icebound passage caves :open_mouth: only have 13kp and 1.3k armour… need more of that but gonna keep going so we can use the M. Easter set!

Level 90 for me: Evoker, Level 90 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator (not so much change in gear, if you play HC I would have focused more on health and armor upgrades)

A little farming route. Yellow = our caster off-hand, Blue blooms that can drop the material Frozen Aster. Note, there will be creatures there that throw rocks at you for 10-15k dmg… beware!

Farmed a new belt in Ulo’s springs, the caster off-hand can drop there too.

Again, would love to have more armor (chest and pants) but we are only one piece missing for Eastern set so we will just bite the bullet and continue farming a piece of it (we can transmute it). Monster totems is the way! You can google “Monster totem farming route Grim Dawn” and you will get many good ones. Pick up greens, sell for iron bits. Dismantle legendaries at inventor for materials (scrap, so we can transmuter other set pieces)

Screenshot in game at this point
image

Farming totems and random bosses for about 4 hours, we finally got the M. Eastern set! Two pieces were straight drops and the third piece we got by set-transmuting at the inventor.

We move on with the campaign now, first base game, the FG (so we can upgrade our Faction shoulders to higher tier) and then do AoM… we will wait with doing the final campaign boss in Fangs of Asterkarn for a later patch/hotfix (this is 1.3.0.3 patch) because that guy seems almost bugged.

Level 100 with M. Eastern set Evoker, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator (pierce resistance is scuffed, need to fix…)

Getting Awakened Mythical Eastern set Awakened Eastern Oath - Item Set - Grim Dawn Item Database

Steps:

  • Get Mythical Eastern set. Farm totems in ultimate, save set items.

  • Transmute high level (82 or higher) epic set pieces into another set at inventor, you need to have done this quest first (easiest to just to it in Normal) https://grimdawn.fandom.com/wiki/The_Tome_of_Eanatum

  • If you get multiple set pieces of M. Eastern, you can also transform them into another pice of the same set at the inventor.

  • Awaken them by using “Ashes of Awaken” materials, you will be given some as quest rewards in FoA Ashes of Awakening - Grim Dawn Item Database it can also be farmed (use the ascension altar, pay Frozen Aster How To Farm Ashes of Awakening )

  • Go to the Noktukari faction and click the “Runed orb”, there you awaken your Mythical Eastern set pieces, in total you need 8x3 = 24 ashes of awakening to make the complete set

Level 100 with Awakened M. Eastern set Evoker, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
(fixxed pierce res a bit, took attribute reset pot, will add Nullification next) (time played 21h) (might also transition into more TSS nodes and have hail storm as 1 point wonder…)

Finished the campaign of AoM and FG, farm reputation where needed to buy augments. Farm some upgrades like a new medal, amulet and so on. Craft a higher tier version of the belt is also good when you get higher reputation with Kurn. Also a new relic if you want (blueprint from Noktukari)

:star: Devotion plan :star:

  • Red crossroads
  • Jackal
  • Refund Red crossroads
  • Yellow crossroads
  • Turtle (bind to Amatok’s pact)
  • Purple crossroads
  • Toad (good for racial dmg to beasts which often has big cold resist)
  • Eel
  • Harvestman
  • Refund Purple crossroads
  • Bards Harp (bind to Heart of Asterkarn)
  • Refund Yellow crossroads
  • Green crossroads
  • Behemot (bind to Iskandras Elemental exchange)
  • Refund Green crossroads
  • Murmor (bind to Winds of Asterkarn for now, change to Trozan Skyshard TSS later after you get Amatok)
  • Rhowans crown (bind to Bonechilling cry)
  • Amatok (bind to Winds of Asterkarn, take one point in TSS to bind Murmor if you do not already done so)
  • Refund Eel
  • Blue crossroads
  • 4 points in Ultos (for the +% cold dmg and OA boosts)

Now you have 2 points left which you can spend where they are needed.

Ideas: 2 points in spider for casting speed, 2 points in sailors guide for freeze and slow res, 1 point ultos for chaos res/life + 1 point dryad for energy / pois res. I first took first node in Hyrian and Phoenix for a total of +80% cold dmg and the switched to 2 crossroads for health.

Further development of character

Get extra skill points https://grimdawn.fandom.com/wiki/Masteries (scroll down in that page to read how to get them). There is also one extra for FoA content but that seems very hard to get for now so we’ll postpone it.

(will add more later)

Maybe try a more TSS focused set-up with this off-hand Rolderathis' Tome - Rare Off-Hand - Grim Dawn Item Database now when we have leech on Winds of Asterkarn via set and also a way to reset cooldown of TSS…

Anyway, with the “end of guide build” we can start farming some shattered realm, and ascendant mode like act 1-3 stuff (stay away from the dread boss! Devs wrote that in a future patch they will make it possible to turn off dread spawns). Ascendent mode tempest totems - doable if you manage to quickly get away and break apart the group.

Stuff we have done with the end of guide build

  • Hidden path ultimate
  • Ascendant mode (regular heroes in act 1-3) some bosses like Kreig
  • Tempest totems in ascendent mode
  • All main campaign in Ultimate 0 deaths.
  • SR 26-27 ultimate (died once to the new boss Shriek with nullification totems… that one is hard as hell, first rip on this char!)
  • Steps of Torment, ultimate
  • Bastion of Chaos, ultimate (video https://youtu.be/iECtveUrVSg )
  • Port Valbury, utlimate (wait for Loxmere to null you, then you press mirror and just go all in on dealing as much dmg as possible to him)
  • Ancient grove, ultimate (final boss is pretty hard, his volcanos hurt a lot so you have to be mobile)
  • Tomb of the Heretic, ultimate (almost got killed after I killed the final boss because his Magi companion casted his rock-rain skill and I had nothing left to leech against and mirror was on cooldown)

:spiral_notepad:
Here is a list of stuff we would like to get for future chars:

  • Experence potions from Malmouth resistance faction (get revered and buy them with iron bits, put in shared stash)
  • Faction mandates for each faction, you need to be revered and buy them with iron bits (once you become honored with a faction, buy their writ and apply to your char - will make it easier to become revered)
  • Blueprints for components and relics and SR waystones
  • Shattered Realm set

I swapped the caster off-hand component to a Silvercore Bolts - Rare Component - Grim Dawn Item Database for better dmg against chtonics and dmg red from them and eldritch, very helpful.

Feedback to devs (will be a separated feedback thread later)
Considering speeding up the radius-build up for winds of asterkarn otherwise you either have to stand on top of boss to deal dmg or wait 1 second. The similar skill Flames of Ignafarr has faser build-up of radius. Consider that WoA stops working when you cast TSS, having it wait for 1 second to build up again is sometimes annoying and clunky. And, the set sets back cooldown to TSS almost instant so you wont be dealing damage with WoA that much anyway. So, having it build up to max radius quicker would mean that you would utilize the set bonuses better. Channeling skills already has a big disadvantage is requiring you to stand still - so having it reach full area quicker is perhaps not a crazy buff that will result in broken builds but will instead add some QoL for us channeling enjoyers <3

Tips and tricks

Factions: reputation and vendor
First step is to get honored, you’ll get more quests and you can buy a writ which will increase faction boost by 50%. It is not much but is something. When you get honored, you can buy some nice items from them and most importantly - augments. We really need these to start ultimate to cover our resistances. Next step is to get revered with at least two of them so we can buy augments for our armor pieces as well!

Two of the easiest factions to become revered with are Homestead and Black legion. Their armor augments can be applied at level 70.

Also use the ascension altar in Kurnhold for 25% more rep boost (but only for killing monsters, not quests etc)

Vendor reset “power shopping”
Go to another area, wait there for 15 seconds, go back. Useful for shopping faction gear etc.

Monster totems
(will add more later)

Farming ashes of awakening
How To Farm Ashes of Awakening start with 1 or 2 Frozen Aster.

You can also do quests for Noktukari, see next section.

Farming reputation with Noktukari
These ones are “easy”

Killing 8 bosses (monsters that have their name in purple)
image

Killing 200 chtonics/bloodsworns
image

Killing 200 aetherials
image

Killng 200 Eldritch
image

You can do this in normal if you want. Because let’s say you by accident take the “clear tomb of heretic” one in ultimate… you are not gonna be able to finish it and will thus be gated in making any more progression for this faction for a loooooooong while. Select which mission to do with great caution.

Summary of farming routes for monster infrequents used
Helmet, in Fort Haron. Start at Blood Grove rift, go up north

Amulet, in The Undergrowth, has three possible spawns. Start at Barrowholm rift go south and move on if not in that first place

Caster off-hand (from frost grobles) and belt (from crabs) in Ulo’s springs, all around that area. Caster off-hand also drops in Freyoll vallye where we pick frozen aster flowers, but there are very deadly creatures there that casts rocks at you for 10-15k dmg…

Medal, from birds Frost Roc. Aurora peaks riftgate go north and south. Also in Frostveil valley, basically the entire area, south of rift gate and west/north.

Costumize your potions
I use on my life pot “tincture” and “Menhirus” from the quest Toil and Trouble (Covens refuge, bring sylvarrias resin), it makes the cooldown shorter and provides a damage absorbing shield that can take 33% of your current health as dmg. Use this while full on life before you anticipate taking lots of damage.

Components?
You do not have to use the same components as I did, they were selected also based on what resistances I needed. Here are other good ones that are easy to get and cheap to make:

  • Amulet: Arcane Lens, Wardstone
  • Chest: Chains of Oleron, Hallowed ground.
  • Helmet: Lethery hide, Runestone
  • Weapon: Imbued silver (good against chtonics), Purified salt (good against Aetherials)
  • Boots: Mark of the traveler

Nullification is one of the best skills in the game, use it like this

  • Reflective mobs? No problem, cast Null on them.
  • Monster has immortality “bubble”? No problem, cast Null on them.
  • Got hit by a bad sunder debuff? No problem, cast Null on yourself.

HC Viable?
See my reply here [FoA 1.3.0.3] Beginner build guide Cold Caster Evoker with the Awakened Eastern Set - #36 by GIJW

Keybinds?
Have “move to” on LMB and your skill (ice talons) on RMB, and chance to Winds of asterkarn later when we spec into that.

Destryoing objects in wereform can be tricky, I used leap for that, or just transformed out - hit thing in human form - transform back. I think it is not polished yet since you can not use auto attacks in wereform… hopefully it will be smoothen out in future hotfixes and patches.

it didnt even drop

ok then i dont know what happened (ascendeant should share quest line with ultimate so I do not think you need or can do it in ult)

I remember getting something that give iron bit bonus

@DK_Death

Ok I did it with an old char

  1. Talk to the herb Nadala in Kurnhold
  2. go to covens refuge and get the “toil and trouble” quest from brewer akathon
    image
  3. find “the undergrowth” has three spaw locations
  4. kill Sylvarria and bring the resin back to akathon

    In your inventory:

if you have not learned it, right click on it

if you did not get this item, your game is bugged or something maybe it was sold on accident, then I guess one has to make another character and remember to learn that formula (I think the cauldron formulas learned are shared)

Glad it worked out! I am 99% sure it does not matter which char you “add” this formula with, i.e. it is shared

Strange that you did not have it on your first char, maybe you accidently dropped it or sold it
