Holy Moly, an expansion after 10 years? (And small request if possible)

Wanted to dip in and say wife and I are excited, this was our first ARPG together and we’ve played off and on over the years, during the fall when the weather turns damp and dark. I even play it on the Steam Deck now with the help of the macro mapping in the Steam OS, who knew!?

Anywho, I just wanted to request that we get a few more character slots because I have mules galore and like to have one or two active PCs at a time. It turns out that you can do every class including mono classes plus 4 other characters. With a new class, I’d like an additional 9 slots just to cover the new multiclass potentials and one Berzerker mono class so have many mules with many loots all sorted precisely where they belong, hehe.

Thanks for giving this game the TLC it deserves, it’s an all timer for us out in Seattle.

There actually is no character limit for local saves. The 50 character limit only applies to Steam Cloud due to their data/file count limits, which we cannot increase.

Aha, good to know. Will adjust around that then.

Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

You say an expansion after 10 years - are you just playing the base game? Because GD has had 2 expansions: Ashes of Malmouth in 2017 and Forgotten Gods in 2019. To be able to play the new Fangs of Asterkarn when it releases you’ll need the base game and both those expansions as well.

And if you want to switch to local saves follow the instructions in this thread.

Then just back your saves up regularly to an external drive like a USB key and then you can put them on another PC if you want to.

It’s kind of rare in the ecosystem for a game to get a major expansion 10 years in, even with prior ones done, that’s what I meant. It’s really heartening, and for my time and money, there’s never been a better ARPG.

I’ve played the prior expansions, I just thought the game was ‘done’ done back in 2020 given the circumstances.

Well, so did everyone else - including Crate - but when they were developing their RTS game which will be set on Cairn in a pre-GD era they decided that it might be a good idea to give us some background/history about the Kurn tribes who’ll feature in the RTS. Plus having had a break from ARPG’s they started to get the itch again.

Crate also got jealous of new Asterkarn areas introduced in Grim League and couldn’t help but make their own.

Eminently possible considering the items ‘borrowed’ from league mechanics:

  1. Ambush chests
  2. Reroll affixes
  3. Central location of all faction vendors
