I think a big part is attributed to the mod and Zentai being around all the time. When there’s something controversial and the comments are getting toxic, mod would intervene or Zentai would just come out and say what he thinks, which usually will settle the argument.

GD Forum Community is better then most but there are still some instances where someone’s opinion will get utterly squashed which can generate an amount of negativity before the threads eventually demise at the hands of one of the moderators or a dev.

That or a poorly communicated thread might turn into a fiesta of useless comments before being locked.

I think these 2 cases are what I usually have seen in this forum. I used to enjoy sarcastic replies but nowadays mostly use humor to hopefully deescalate the pointless tension from a thread.

I also feel that over the internet, it’s easy to misinterpret what people are saying. Emojis only help so much.

It’s a calm place and all, but I’ve always found it somehow soulless and sterile.
While true man want strong emotions, glorious fights, bread and circuses.

We have Trolls and glorious fights in GD though. Bread, I am not so sure about unless you count the Untouched Meals. What we don’t have are circuses, unless that is what the super secret thing from FG does; summon a circus troupe.
