With the closure of the DRM free thread, how will backers know if/when their build will be available. Will it be announced via Kickstarter or what? The FAQs on the forum are outdated and of no use on the matter, and there is now no dedicated thread to ask questions or get developer input. Not trying to incite a flame war, but I would rather know what’s going on with the game.
You would download it from GOG’s web site, or use GOG Galaxy.
Quite sure when it is available, there will be a thread posted to make everyone aware, or any other method to inform the Kickstarters and backers.
Can’t do either without a redemption key and a released game. How are users going to get the information and will it go out to backers or be announced on the GD site, forums, etc. ? Trimming posts is one thing, but now short of direct email to Crate, you can’t ask for updates since the official thread was closed.
That’s what I’d normally assume as well, but since the launch wasn’t handled well, I’d like some confirmation so I don’t have to constantly check the forums for the announcement or look through a bunch of threads for answers.
Go to the Announcement and Information Forum, on the right side on the same line as the Forum Title, click on Forum Tools.
Click Subscribe to this Forum.
In the Notification type drop-down select Daily Updates by email.
Click the Add Subscription button.
Now when the devs announce the release in this forum, you’ll be notified by email.
There will be an update via Kickstarter, an announcement on the Forum and possibly even a Facebook / Twitter post.

When it’s ready to be posted… what do you really want Crate to delay the release by having to post every few minutes that they are working on it
Why can’t we get a rough timetable here, is it some NDA or more problems with Galaxy? I just want to play the game and I’m starting to get the a vibe again that DRM-free is just considered a troublesome issue to get rid of, rather than something to be active about with updates or info but hopefully I am proven wrong soon™.
GoG is reviewing the build for release on their service. It’s currently out of Crate’s hands, hence they cannot provide an ETA.
You’ll be better off asking GoG than Crate as to when
I gave some info in the thread before lockdown but it was removed because I said too much. Anyway for us DRM-free guys; information from me to you:
- 100% it will not be released this week.
- Based on previous build / talk / change / deploy / test timespan / and “stuff” it might be released next weak but only if a miracle happens. We can hope though.
- Most likely the earliest we get our GD is starting as of the March 28 week.
This info is for the DRM-free guys that were in the DRM-free thread before, pertinent and applicable just to them. I’m not writing long posts anymore because I don’t keep copies after I post and if it gets deleted I’m not writing it again so might as well just be brief.
Also don’t ask things / details. This is so that you know not to come on the website looking for news or having hope everyday lol.
more like because you had no idea what you were talking about…
The last thread about this turned into a ragefest pissing contest, hence why it closed. They let us know when it’s being worked on, what’s being done, what’s the delays and that it’s soon to be released. I’m sure once everything is set into motion they’ll post an update. Kind of something they do regularly. Patience is a virtue…
thank you for info ! do you know if Galaxy will be optional as usual (just in case) ? thx !
Yep it will be 100% optional! I myself don’t use the Galaxy feature.
great news ! (although it isn’t much surprising)
thanks again for informing us !
Five years of patience is pretty good in my book, I didn’t complain with the steam only beta because I assumed things would be taken care of upon final release; unfortunately, I now see what that quiet patience and trust gets you. If the DRM-free crowd had raised some noise earlier this could all likely have been avoided. There was a thread a couple years ago that was eerily prescient on the subject.
What kind of priority are they giving DRM-free since we miiiight get a release a month late, IF we are lucky?
I was content for a while because it seemed that we were getting some actual progress and response from Medierra, but I find it difficult to fathom that it could take so long to get a build out.
If Crate really valued this, they could shift priority temporarily to fixing whatever they need to get to GOG rather than teasing mod tools for the all-mighty steam. The fact that the steam brown-coats showed up at the first hint of criticism is half the reason that thread went off the rails, combined with the confusion of platform switching/uncertainty, and somewhat confusing responses about how he never thinks about DRM from Medierra all combined to create a weird slog to read through. To make a long story short, I just want my game so I can stop having to press for what I backed for and I can finally get closure.
And it starts again…
