I... don't get it

@Picurs kinda feel the same. Not a veteran but also not a complete beginner (got 3 lv 100 chars) and raising a new char is just… SLOW now

Than stick to normal. Even before the Patch many people argued that it’s better to play Normal if “leveling” is your main-goal because even before the patch it took longer to finish / beat enemies in Veteran than in Normal. For you guys you can still enjoy Normal as much as you want… and don’t come with this “but the 10% exp boost” because you folks tend to forget that this 10% exp boost is NOW added with the NEW veteran mode as a trade off for being harder / take longer. Otherwise we might not 've gotten the 10%exp boost at all.

Zentai, give us 15% EXP bonus on veteran.

For your mistake to :zantai: name, pentalty - 10% EXP across the board

I’d argue for the question / suggestion alone he will lower the exp boost from 10% to -10%… so it would be another -10% for his mistake on his name. So thanks @MrDeuxExHuman … now we’ll get with the hotfix -20% Exp Boost on top of #DeadBuilds

April 1 is not soon :cowboy_hat_face:

I haven’t started a new toon yet with this patch, but what would be the quicker route if you want to start from the first difficulty and reach lvl 40/50 (with Lokarr and exp potions)? Play Normal and breeze trough it, or Veteran with the 10% EXP bonus and higher mob density but with stuff that require more time to kill?

I would still play normal, with the “skip token” so that all riftgates are available to you.

sooo from what i’ve read here, its much better to just play fast in normal with the ultimate token unlocking every riftgate, fastforwarding you to elite difficulty which is a slightly harder version of veteran but much more rewarding…
veteran difficulty’s +10% bonus xp and slightly extra mobs seems underwhelming. maybe crate designed veteran difficulty to appeal new veteran arpg players who haven’t got the ultimate token and wants to learn the game mechanics by playing slowly through vet>elite>ult. those players would want slightly harder early game, which veteran offers. since enemies dying quickly in normal mode wouldn’t give them much enjoyment in early game and give them false sense of security when jumping to elite.

If that’s the case, it’s a bit of a disappointment. I’d like to play Veteran, have a greater challenge, make use of my stashed gear, tokens, components and knowledge in order to overcome the difficulties, I can accept that this would require more time, but if the rewards are not worth I’d play normal instead, since, the more time I spend on lower difficulties, the less time I have for ultimate/endgame, where the meat of the game is. Sure, there’re people they like Veteran even if it’s not so rewarding, but maybe they should give Veteran a higher exp bonus or better rewards (like more components/mats drops) in order to be more attractive to more people.

Then just skip up to Ultimate to start with. Even more challenge and faster levelling.

It already does get a +10% EXP bump now… plus you encounter more mobs and you definitely encounter more Hero mobs, which by proxy increases the amount of loot you get and the amount of loot orbs you get to pop which increases the chances of better loot.

It really doesn’t need much more than that by my thinking and I’ve never had an issue getting decent gear on Veteran.

Me at level 20 on Veteran:

and that’s not even counting all the greens and blues I’ve already sold.

But if you go through lower difficulties you’ll get faction reputation quicker, especially though quests, if you do only Ultimate you’ll need to farm it (in boring ways) in order to reach revered and get the augments.

I do not think that the main selling point for buffing veteran was to make a more efficient way to level up with.

The extra 10% exp gain is nice, since it stacks multiplicative with exp pot and lokarr (and medal bonus)

E.g. with exp pot, you now get a factor of 2.2 experience compared to a factor of 2 experience in Normal. That is actually a 20% gain.

Do you think the difference in difficulty level makes veteran more attractive than normal for leveling? I ask, cause always level only in normal, but more XP is nice incentive.

It isn’t, because droprate is very bad either way compared even to elite, not to speak of ultimate at all.

Not sure if veteran exp gain is worth if over normal fastness if the pure goal is to get to level x in as short time as possible.

If it takes you 5 hours to get to level 50 in Normal, you have to get there in Veteran in 4 hours and 10 minutes or faster to be worth it (take time in normal and divide by 1.2 assuming you only use exp pots in both cases)

Honestly, if you’re just looking to get thru then just go Normal. If you don’t care about that and simply enjoy going thru with more challenge then go Vet of course.

Vet will be slower, you’ll likely be a handful of levels higher at the end than you would on Normal but you will likely have some better gear, more iron, more components and your build will be more solid overall. But, still, if you want speed just go Normal.

When I level, want to track my progress and avoid using Lokkar set, only SF and sometimes crafted/faction gear. So using XP pot and going for speed. So normal is my level, since I want to just move quick to to elite and ultimate.

yeah I mean the only thing I care about in normal is to unlock factions and get some reputation.
in elite I spend some time in to get geared up for ultimate since I try to play each new char as SSF as possible gear wise.
