[IDEA] More Animals for DLC

It’s definitely not something that needs to be included in the base game, (and others may have discussed this previously), but I’d love to see more varieties of animals in the game. I love all of the farming elements, but sheep are some of my favorite animals and I was pretty surprised not to see them included, especially considering ‘weaver’ is an occupation/building. There could be a sheep barn like cows/horses/goats and the devs could even make a new building for spinners to spin the wool output from sheep (either instead of weavers or as another step before weavers make the clothes).

Besides sheep, there are other animals that might be fun. In fact, we see traders have oxen pull their carts and wagoneers have oxen as well, but we never see where the oxen come from. Perhaps the oxen could live with the cows? Pigs would also be cool to raise for meat.

Does anyone else have any cool animals they’d like to see in the future?

Many other games have jumped on the capybara van wagon, so why not Farthest Frontier? Some have mentioned in other posts that raising other foul than chicken could be a source of feathers (down) as well as eggs and meat. An upgraded fishing hut could be to place some kind of fence in a large circle to create a fishery for controlled fish breeding and availability similar to barns with livestock. What farmer doesn’t have a dog? Sheep herders would need a sheep dog, right? We could used dogs in our militaries or even caged wolves to release like a trap when raiders get near. This idea I got from the Stronghold game series however, which also features archers standing on or moving along walls.

Yes, FF has a lot of potential for more animals, but I think they’re constrained by AI performance limits as the game already has population limits to help with this.

Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

Other animals have been suggested before, but if we do get any more it’ll be after full release of the game so would come either as free content or in a paid expansion depending on what else Crate’s MOAR habit brings to the game.

Sheep - or rather wool as an alternative to flax - would be a neat addition. I think it would be a good idea to give the player different ways of achieving the same thing.
