Is Movement Speed in Grim Dawn Some Kind Of Joke?

Agree. I have spend more than 510 hours in this game. I really enjoy like a child with it. And that is the reason i write this post. Because i would like see a better enjoyable experience, than im felling every day in Grim Dawn.

Like i said in the begin of the thread: If the game can be better. Should be better. :frowning:

I still feel like mounts would be the best solution for being fast and it not affecting the combat (being unable to attack on mounts). But it will obviously not happen.

If there really is such a high demand for more speed there could be cheap mounts, like a toggle buff that grants movementspeed but also gives a offensiveDamageMultModifier of 0 with a 5 second or so cooldown.

I am german.

 Saving this comment for use of the term “zoom zoom”.

I certainly wouldn’t mind a few percent extra max movement speed just so that my ranged characters can stop getting slapped around the face quite so much later on in the Crucible, but aside from that (which can already be mitigated a fair bit with CC anyway) I feel like the current speed cap we have is pretty much fine. It’s easy enough to raise it up to at least 130% regardless of class, and the game world has enough riftgates and stuff to kill between them that it rarely feels like I’m slogging through bland nothingness.

Elixir of the Hunt would be a little more useful as a movement speed potion if it actually temporarily increased your maximum speed by a few percent on top of what it already does, but relying on them to get around is already a pretty awkward way to go about things. Increasing the duration would be a bit too powerful considering the other benefits it gives.

If the complaint is that the base speed itself is too slow and it merely becomes tolerable once you hit the cap, wouldn’t it make more sense to ask for the base character movement speed to be increased instead of increasing the upper limit of the cap or increasing the value on items?

Let’s pretend combat is currently balanced with the maximum movement speed in mind.

How about invincible mounts that let you zoom across the countryside, but which do not permit any active skills while you ride? Give them a 5 second cooldown on getting back up on the horse after you’ve dismounted. You take damage while mounted, but you aren’t dismounted except for with stun mechanics.

This sounds familiar.

Also, what’s up with the sudden fascination of mounts? I would have thought the concept would have died with WoW.

sure lets just change 1 mechanics and totally ignore any further implications it might have. its not like that can break a game. Let’s just blindly change things because 1 arrogant bastard wants change.

Sure it feels slow compared to other games. but that is just the decision made by the devs.
people demanding core elements to change this far in just don’t get it.

Please guys. Dont lose your head. Mounts in Grim dawn?? All we know that is simply out of discussion. Ok, yes. This is an open world arpg, but, this is not WoW, or Black Desert. Introducing some changes in movement skills (being them able with untarget clicking), or some + % for the cap stats movement speed, and equip, should be enough. Increasing the movement speed potion duration, should be another good fix.

Sorry mate, but. I must refuse the fact that Devs, have a mutual agreement to make this game, strongly slow, for the despair of the customers… That stuff can´t enter into my conscience. Instead of, i prefer believe, that they, simply haven´t the ilumination till, of think about the positive aspect, that this changes could provide to the gameplay experience of his game.

So what movement base movementspeed would you want with your mounts?

The speed has been adjusted a few times during the game’s Early Access days. (There might have been one after release too, but I don’t recall.] It hasn’t been adjusted in a long while. So, I highly doubt the speed will be adjusted any further.

Also, IIRC, there were some issues that cropped up when speed exceeded a certain amount. Anyone else have a reference? Maybe that was attack speed?

Edit: Here’s a thread about increasing the movement speed in a mod: Increase move speed help

My friend. When a game, need a mod, to fix an issue. Means that something go wrong with it…

Or the developers don’t think it’s an issue and they specifically made the game moddable so that people can change the game to their liking.

Yeah, you can just mod the game if you think it’s slow.

Not necessarily. What you and the developers consider issues might be radically different from one another because it is unfeasible that you and the developers share the same vision of the game.

Mods exist for you to make the game what you want it to be.

I definitively don´t want mounts!! I prefer go running hurry, or jumping, or charging, or teleporting, or something like those shiiittttsssss!!!

Yes definitely. If base speed is too slow, increasing cap limit means nothing because you will not reach the cap until your leveling phase comes close to finish thus it is nonsense. Base speed is terrible.

I actually prefer your linked thread’s idea.

Like i said in another tread for the mount but people seem to thought this idea “silly”
