Let's talk about Conduits

With the introduction of Conduits, we had a variety of options to replace the Mythical Peerless Eye of Beronath as the BIS in many builds. However the cost is prohibitively high. For three of my characters, I have 40+ failed crafts, i.e. Conduits of three various kinds which just didn’t have the right affixes for my builds, and I still haven’t got the a single Conduit of Wild whispers with -15% phys res reduction with Devouring storm. That is 400 (yes, you read it right - four hundred) Ugdenblooms and other assorted materials, plus 300K per craft, which amounts to 12+million iron. Given the random nature of Conduits and the facts that not even approximately decent results are guaranteed for each craft, I believe the price should be at the very least halved. Also, I’m not sure that all the affixes are useful. Narrowing down the possibilities to the really useful ones would be a great help.

I’m interested in your thoughts.

I am fairly new to end game content, what you’re speaking of reminds me of crafting in Diablo 2, you have your godly uniques/sets ect but the true wins were the unreal godly crafted items that were 1 in a million to get. Made hard to get on purpose and rarely seen from a single player perspective.

I agree with OP. Cost of crafting conduits is too high for a roll that isn’t guaranteed.

I don’t see any reason why we cant chose a desirable crafting combination during crafting. Less mindless grind, moar gameplay plz.

You can if you use GD Stash.

Atleast they dont have varying % conversions

As a stoneplate boots, as a badge of mastery, as a conduit crafting all of those items a pure lottery.
Somebody likes it.
Most don’t.

Or we can reduce ingame bullshitery by scaling the cost of craftables and removing the “luck” scam element of crafting. Lets say - BoM 10 Mil iron coins. All conduits - 15 MIL iron coins. Boots - 7 mil iron coins. Easy, Farmable, good.

I crafted exactly 20 Conduits of Wild Whispers and none of them have the Devouring Swarm prefix… (not to mention the Destructive and Eldritch ones I crafted for my other characters). It’s driving me nuts.

I have suggested this in the Suggestion thread but Zantai didnt say anything so i guess is a not go:(

To OP - how i solve this bad desin decision: collect the crafting materials on your char. Save + exit to main menu. Go to your save dir and copy your char save folder to your desktop. GO back to game > craft > dont get what you want > go to main menu > alt+tab + copy paste your save folder from the desktop in your GD save file> back to game > craft again etc.

It is save scumming but considering the retarded level of RNG for the above mentioned crafts - i prefer to do it this way (since i am strongly against anything GDstashed).

Just GDstash man

Agreed. If you’re already “cheating” by copying files, you may as well save yourself time and use GDstash. Just set yourself limits you’re comfortable with and it shouldn’t harm your enjoyment of the game. Infinite stash with a search function - yes please.

It is rather telling, when the literal champions of the game, advocate using a 3rd party solution to unwavering irrational dev stubbornness.

I never liked “crafting” scum in GD, its dumb and time consuming. Crafting a Mythycal relic is an example of Korean MMORPG grindfest - a single relic with desirable skill rolls require 30 hours of Iron bits farming >_> For the love of god why I must spend to much time of my life for this shit?

Lol…You guys are the best sometimes.

I mean it’d be more bearable if the crafting UI was a little better. These days I don’t really care about completion bonuses on relics unless we’re talking about %OA or %DA bonuses. It’s tedious

I don’t really care much for relics but BoM crafting is pretty ridiculous. FG will screw it up even more if we get a new class. In vanilla I could throw away +5 BoMs for rolling with less than average rolls on OA and Elemental Resist. But in AoM I don’t have that luxury.

I definitely don’t agree with his tone but I hope it’s on the to-do list for FG. If a mastery gets added, BoM crafting would be a major pain. Conduit, Yellow BP items, Relic bonuses don’t even compare to it.
Even if a mastery doesn’t get added I hope it is looked into maybe at some later point.

+1 to BoM and Conduits

Completely disagree. How is crafting a scam or bad design? Take some of this games rivals or siblings and compare how they handle crafting and gambling (gambling and crafting are synonymous in terms of resources and time spent with respect to results).

D2: Had some crafting elements with cube recipes, but solves this with straight cash gambling on vendors. Some of the best items were crafted rares.

D3: Actual crafting with materials and some guaranteed stats, and other variable stats. No gambling. For a while best items were crafted rares until people cried about not getting their best loot immediately.

PoE: Crafted rares are typically better.

What I’m getting at is to achieve that ultimate power there needs to some cost associated to it. In my mind developing a build entirely around one very high cost item is probably not a good idea, nor do I find pleasure in having all of my best gear handed to me, otherwise what’s the point in playing the game? Finding those incremental power boosts and working towards the next one so I can defeat stronger content is really the goal to me.

You can disagree, but don’t call BS because it takes work to achieve something. As for the “champions” of this game telling people to use a third party tool to give yourself items, I think that’s more telling of the attitude of the people we look up to as individuals of authority than it does about the mechanics of a game.

Just to know - have any of Devs tried to craft a 4% DA Mogdrogen adore legitely?
I mean crafting one of these things require solving a half-hour puzzle with laggy smithing interface. And to make one with 80% chanse to roll DA we need ¬43 crafting attempts. 43, Zantai. We need to spend two days to craft this relic not counting farming. This is madness.
