[/b]

I came up with this while reworking Ceno’s Maelstrom. This one was easy to make as i already had a level 85 Ultos Conjurer lying around so i just made minor adjustments to to test it.

I did end up levelling this build with a different conjurer since this build was really fun to play.

The entire point of this build is to make a DW-Ranged build which doesn’t use demolitionist not even for support, mainly cause i noticed pretty much every ranged build used Demolitionist.

Build Concept-

1. Conjurer vs. Elementalist-

Overall, i think Elementalist should be better due to higher RR with mines, Blast Shield and more Lightning Support. I picked Conjurer mainly cause as i stated above the challenge is to create a ranged build that doesn’t rely on demolitionist.
Occultist does bring CoF to the table, it’s better than demolitionist mines (which have higher RR) because Curse of Frailty is more convenient to use. Blood of Dreeg is a great skill which gives nice flat OA and heals a shit-ton of HP.

2. Stacking OA-

Resistance reduction is the key to any build’s success and this build does it pretty easily, but what else we can do here is stack fuck-tons of OA. Why? Well Stormcaller’s Pact has a decent %crit damage bonus and our main weapon proc is 100% chance on Critical attack so a high OA helps us a lot.

Grimcalc with devotions including item bonuses -

I overleveled Storm Touched due to high flat Electrocute damage, alternatively one could opt to go for Dying God and Tempest by skipping Spear of the Heavens. This provides more OA and even more %crit damage and speed due to DG’s final skill. I personally like SoTH proc so i picked this.

This is the level 100 version of GrimTools. Please refer to this from now on, the rest of the guide will get updated later on

All are 1.0.3.0 links btw

Bosses Guide-

1.Fabius-
Kite and kill if he bursts you. He dies fairly quickly.

2.Iron Maiden-
She was pretty much unkillable but with good stun resistance thanks to MIs, she dies. But beware she can still be hard to take down. You can’t kite her at all. Hardest enemy imo.

3.Rashalga-
I killed her on the previous profile which was a respecd Conjurer. In this one I haven’t even killed Guardian of Solael yet to unlock her area. I don’t mind doing it if someone really wants me to. Anyways, i just recommend kite and kill with her.

4.Ben-
I met him when i was trying to test this build against Log. He died pretty easily. Didn’t proc my mark.

5.Moose-
Beware of him during phase two. Those crystals are a bitch as they freeze you a lot. He dies, but can get some powerful hits in. Didn’t proc my Mark.

6.Log-
I think it’s the Wendigo Totem that keeps me from getting shotgunned at closed range. He’s easy, too big a target to miss.

7.Valdaran-
I hate searching for Aetherial and Chthonian nemesis, so didn’t bother searching. But it’s pretty obvious he’d be the hardest to take down since well we’re both dealing damage to each other using lightning.

8.Sentinel-
I killed him on the previous respecd conjurer pretty easily with a much weaker setup. I didn’t go there this time, it’s a pretty long walk till his domain. Plus i didn’t progress much in that questline.

9.Shar’Zul and BoC test-
His Flame Devils have impaired aim so watch out for them. Also he hits hard when he reduces your resistances. You should be fine imo due to having decent DA and Healing Totem.

Leveling Guide-
Use Dreeg’s Evil Eye to level, Devouring Swarm is another option. Just make sure not go too much into Occultist Mastery bar.

Reputation Farming-
Kill The Outcast on normal and farm her dungeon till you are halfway from honored to revered with the Black Legion. Switch sides with her on Elite (her faction gives us good aether resistances)

In closing-
This build is pretty fun and a nice change of pace for those who are tired of picking demolitionist when going ranged. I loved playing this build hope you guys do as well.

Looks really nice! Any chance I could bother you for a grim calc for devotions / skills or is it the same to the other Maelstrom?

tfw you’re no longer the only person in the world with a dual wield exonerator build

OA seems on the low side and dps could be a bit better I think, but mostly looks good. I also chose a conjurer and has like 2800 or something. Curious what you chose for devotions compared to me. Should post grimcalc before all this other stuff!

What the?

I thought i posted the GrimCalc.

EDIT 1:

Sorry i posted two builds in the same instant so didn’t pay attention to what is and what isn’t. I also missed out on a few other things.

Let me do a quick update, sorry for the inconvenience

EDIT 2:

Updated the guide thank you TomoDak and Katza331 for pointing out that GrimCalc was missing

I have spent about two or three hours with this build (excluding the time it took to get to current gear setup), so i could see some improvements. I’m going to make improvements by getting better rolls on my Relic. Been busy lately so can’t devote a lot of brainpower to the game

Good to know you’re running with Lightning Gun build as well. I love the damage type a lot. Also, would love a grimcalc if you don’t mind sharing.

Oh and your experience with Nemeses, Shar’Zul, Alkamos, Queen and Sentinel?

Nice! It’s really hard to find a dual-wielding build that actually works

Thank you. I hope you enjoy this. I will update the build a little before Christmas as i won’t be able to play a lot before that. The update should fill in the shortcomings

Here is my other build on a similar concept

Recently went with a different devotion setup, i am sorry i am not able to update this frequently. I will update the grimcalc if the new devotion testing proves to be successful

Thank you

Umm yeah i updated it quite a bit, OA should be good now.

Btw, updated the guide finally

Wow, Chthon, he looks like Zeus now)
What do you think about taking of Guthook Belt, and changing Dread Skull for Wardstone??

I like attack speed, the game already penalizes you enough for playing ranged so i don’t recommend switching from Dread Skull

I won’t be able to dual-wield if i switch the belt. I am aware of the Medal that allows me to go DW-ranged but Mark is really helpful so i use it on pretty much all of my builds where i don’t have a CB skill

Right, my bad, I forgot about dual-dielding skill from belt, sorry.

Btw, thanks for the compliment. Zeus happens to be my favorite Olympian.

Thanks for updating! Really cool build. Couple questions though…

  1. How are the Wind Devils doing for you DPS-wise? I typically hear mediocre things about them, do you invest in them because you need more places to put points or are they actually a worthwhile source of DPS?

  2. Basically same question but for Mogdrogen’s Pact. Do you really need all that energy regen? I typically see that skill as a 1-point activation for HotW and Oak Skin.

Welcome, this guide’s update was long over-due. I was busy levelling the character since the original guide was a concept guide made using screenshots by respecing an existing Ultos Conjurer- hence the long delay.

-Imo, their AI seems more sucky than Blade Spirits. But Maelstrom is really strong skill.
-One can go for Storm Totem for better results.
-DPS wise, i have done nemesis runs where i don’t cast them and i still don’t have trouble with enemies.
-Think of them as filler skills when you are kiting

-Hmm, it’s a free source of more flat regen which goes along nicely with Savagery’s second modifier. You can refund points from it and keep it at one point.

  1. I see, that’s a good point to have a source of DPS while kiting.

  2. Didn’t think about the synergy with Tenacity. Makes sense when you put it that way.

Thanks!

5.Moose-
Those crystals are a bitch as they freeze you a lot.

Are you using the consumables??

I generally don’t need to use that one. Sometimes he can freeze me at a bad time but mostly i am fine which is why i didn’t mention Hoarfrost Ointment
