Lightning Sabo is probably the most fun I've had with a build

Current build right now

Going through AoM content to finish normal. Ever since I got disengage it’s been a completely new experience for me. My current strategy is to use Shadow Strike, get an opening, stun with Ring of Steel, plant my mines, get a few strikes in, have reckless tempest/elemental storm go off, disengage, use pneumatic burst/healing potion to heal and then go at it again. Blast shield, Wayward Soul, Giant’s Blood, and Ghoulish Hunger all act as amazing circuit breakers in conjunction with each other. I did Port Valbury for the first time, and I ALMOST died facing Van Aldritch and the councilman. I was stunned, facing heavy aether damage, disengage and all my healing were on cooldown, but blade barrier my final trump card ended up healing me and allowed me to get my skills back up from cooldown.

I feel I have a build that has high DPS, is extremely mobile and agile, and has a high defenses/several ways to survive in sticky situations. It’s a really fun and dynamic build, and it’s lightning based too which is what I’ve wanted

Also shout out to Chthon for giving inspiration for this build: https://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48400

Have fun in end-game

“Everything” works at level 60

Yup, it’s definitely the most fun thing in the game for a while, but goodness does that fun not last in Ultimate. Enjoy it while you can!

I am confident I’ll be having fun in end-game

I hope you’re right.Ignorance is bliss:)

I’m a pretty intelligent guy. I’m sure I’ll figure something out when it comes down to it.

Ultimate and especially AoM and FG content might shatter your dreams. I made, in my modest opinion, the best all-around Sabouter build that can tackle everything, you might want to save this link for later.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I’ll definitely keep it in mind and try to learn from it.

as long as you are having fun with the challenge, thats all that matters:p

Yeah I agree! I really enjoy the playstyle of the lightning Sabo and with the fact it’s hardcore provides an extra edge that I enjoy.

>Poster wants to say he’s having fun with his build
>People suddenly feel the urge to go full toxic and jump at his throat, going as far as to call him ignorant.

Jesus Christ, this board became utter garbage in the last few years… Just let the guy enjoy whatever he wants to play and get a life!

Didn’t find anything toxic in this thread. Just fellow Grim Dawn players sharing their experiences and giving advice. That’s what forum is for.

Honestly, I have to echo this sentiment.

Not everyone has the same cutting-edge goals/expectations, nor are they necessarily even interested in end-game content.

If someone comes in asking for advice for end-game, sure, educate them; but discouraging them before they even get there benefits no one.

Umm,pretty sure, that I say that ignorance of my/other people posts is bliss, but you misinterpreted this and jump to our throats:D

I kinda wish that too, that I could just start Grim Dawn all over again and have NO expectations and results from other peoples builds and such. Its like math, the more you know - the more you know that you do not know enough and you start to feel bad about it :frowning:

Well you don’t have to worry too much about me then! I’m actually a physics graduate student working on computational physics research. I’ve run into a fair bit of math and I don’t feel too bad about it. I like the journey and the process of learning about it. This is why I enjoy Grim Dawn too. You’re right building a RPG character is very methodical like doing math or physics, and the journey I have in learning is what I enjoy most.

I am PhD in physics and have teacher degree, also have bachelor degree in math and worked at CERN a while ago (hmm 9 years I think) so I get what you mean

But like all mathematical models, they have their limitations - and so is it with some Grim Dawn builds. Even with the most astronomically good rolled gear - some builds are “impossible” to do some of the harder content in the game.

Oh wow, CERN you’re quite experienced! So I’m curious, since I work in particle physics research too what’s your opinion on the cosmological constant in Einstein’s field equations and it describing dark energy? It seems like the most straight forward way of doing it, but the issue is that quantum field theory predicts a much larger Hubble Constant and with supersymmetry breaking we can’t have that.

So do you think we should stick with the cosmological constant and if so what do we do about the inconsistency with QFT? Or should we go to a different theory, and if so which one will describe it better?

Agreed 100%, that’s my favorite part of this game is that journey.

Yeah there’s a lot of fun in figuring it out yourself! I used Cthon’s build as a general template, but I’m messing it with my own and finding skills/playstyle I like myself.
