I thought I’d finally give this challenge a try. I’m doing it on HC Normal(so not Veteran). Does it count as complete if you reach 100 without entering Ultimate?
You learn a lot of new things when you challenge yourself. And so far I’ve learned that second tier components are insane. I mean, what the hell is this DPS? That’s Greater Fireblast, and it does more damage than some of my normal builds.
i’d supposed “in spirit” you’d have to complete Ult difficulty too
but technically for “trophy” (spoiler) you only have to reach Vanguard on Ult, so act 1+first couple main quest stages of FG
“subjectively” you can apply whatever criteria satisfies you ofc
Getting halfway up Forgotten Gods will require an Ultimate capable character. A character that can do that can probably beat the Ultimate campaign.
So far it’s been really easy. I wonder when the difficulty picks up. Do people usually do this on Veteran?
One thing I like is that my character feels very flexible. I could switch my build whenever I want, to whatever I want. I’m doing fire now, but could switch to poison very easily. Or lightning. Lightning bolt procs seem very potent on normal mode, and I found Storm’s Edge already.
ye figured/remembered from before
and i think several probably approach it that way to put full emphasis on the native challenge. But it is technically an option to share stash/people sometimes forget that consideration, whether it be about the spirit of the run or the technicality/semantics of having cleared it
Oh this is SSF. No blueprints no stash. I typically play on Veteran but chose to do this on normal.
There were a few challenging encounters: Ancient Aether totem, Krieg, Cronley, Ulraprax, Forsaken Spirit totem.
Healing is definitely a problem. My only heal is 99 health regen. I’m about to enter Steps of Torment and fight Zarthusellan. I want to keep a clean quest log.
So my classless character died at level 29, right after making that last post. Since then I’ve tried a few more runs, and just today I’ve discovered my favorite classless build.
My latest HC SSF Classless build. This is just after defeating Karroz. Invicta
As you can see, it’s an Aether Missiles build. With a death ray skill for extra damage, and to trigger the missiles and devotions. I’ve failed on this build once before. This time I went for Scythe devotion first, and then Behemoth. This allows me to kind of use Conflagration. I still run out of energy all the time, but it’s enough.
This particular character has been quite lucky with the loot. Just look at that helmet. And then I found this bad boy in the store.
UPDATE: Have now cleared the entire main campaign. Only Forgotten Gods and Skeleton Keys remain. Although I did enter each dungeon to pick up the devotion points. The build feels pretty nice now. The gear is looking good, the devotions are looking good. Tree of Life will be complete just before Korvaak, giving me infinite energy.
Invicta 65
UPDATE: Forgotten Gods has been cleared, here’s a couple pics from Kovaak’s arena. The only quests left in Veteran are the skeleton keys, but I’ll be skipping those for now. Next step, Ultimate.
Dude this is freakin awesome!!! Im going to follow your lead on this build type for my next Classless run, i bet this character is fun as hell to play. I looooove Aether Missles with a channeled skill- One of my favorite combos in the game.
Im just getting back from a mini-vacation, super excited to get some game time in soon!
The damage isn’t very high. The build does great against many small enemies, but terrible against a few big ones. All the missiles just explode on a single target then. There’s still some improvements I can make. A mythical off hand, and 3 more aether missiles items.
I’ve also been collecting Squalls items and Fallen Skies items. Those could work with Obliteration and my devotion setup.
I just hit Revered with the witch gods last night. Can finally start buying life augments from Solael.
