Woops
Final build: Invicta
Have you figured out what enemy / attack killed you and why?
Default attack on LMB looks sus btw
Just what you see on the screen here. Some random aetherials. Everything hits me for half my health bar. It’s no problem when fighting one on one. But with groups you can get unlucky.
I used to run out of energy on occasion, so I’d smack enemies with normal attack to trigger aether missiles. It doesn’t impede movement.
2 seconds cd on 3 buttons including default attack sounds like you got hit by skill disruption ![]()
As for “everything hits me for half my health bar”, well, GT shows your aether res isn’t capped, so maybe this is why. On higher levels ultimate can be pretty spicy even with capped everything, I don’t want to imagine going there without caps. 44% bleed too ![]()
The attribute starvation is truly the biggest hurdle to overcome in the puzzle of build assembly for HC Classless. I feel your pain!
Noooooooooo ![]()
All the way to 95, too. Im sorry for your loss, my heart broke every time this happened to me.
Did some early work on a classless melee build. And honestly, this doesn’t look bad at all: Classless Physical
UPDATE: Started a new journey. Made it to Warden’s basement. A two handed weapon and Slam were plenty strong enough for Normal mode. Now I’ll farm the Burrwitch totem for all it’s blueprints, and then it’s time for Veteran.
Well, that one died, but it was showing promise for sure. Around Homestead the lack of healing became a real issue. I had plenty of leech, but it’s just inferior to regeneration.
Here’s the latest Invicta
Currently at Twin Falls. I did some crystal farming because I wanted to hit 35 for the helmet and the belt. Turns out crystal farming gives no money or items, so I’m broke and my gear is kinda bad. Things are going to be rough until Voldrak, when I get my next weapon upgrade.
I’m doing my devotions different than last time. I wanted to try Bull, and I’m getting Scythe next for some more regen.
UPDATE: Lmao just died at the Twin Falls waypoint. Skeleton Knight bleed damage.
Nasty buggers. D=
My condolences.
Invicta is my newest champion. This one was played all on Veteran mode. Don’t think it’s worth it for classless, but I had to double check.
There are several ways to approach the physical build I posted earlier. I think the Kraken route is the most sensible, but this time I attempted the Scales route. I’ve just unlocked the spell and reached Smugglers Pass. It’s nice to have infinite energy, but my attack damage is bad. I threw together a poison weapon set on switch, just in case. The shield was a craft.
Next up Kilrian and then maybe Zarthy. And then Voldrak, who should drop me my next good weapon.
UPDATE
Finally took care of this.
Here’s the build I had for the fight.
Invicta
UPDATE
I’ve got good news and bad news, first the good news.
And now the bad news.
It was literally a single groble. Did over 6k damage with a double hit attack.
Behold! My Masterpiece ~ Classless Aether 2
This one has less regen, but more damage, OA, Scales, and most importantly, aether missiles. This version can fit 11 affixes, up from 10 in the previous iteration.
It will take some lucky prefixes to make the build shine, mostly physique and resistances. But those are magic, and based on my previous run, it’s not hard to get them.
I’ve made a new character to embody this build. Here’s the situation after farming Burrwitch totem: Invicta 25
Do you have 4 skills for your devos?
Scales and Healing Rain go on Seals of Resonance. Arcane Bomb goes on Obliteration. Not sure what to do about Eye of Korvaak. It might stay unbound.
if you use a 4cd rune aug widow becomes 100% trigger, so you could use it offensively, then have korvaak on Oblit
tho you might struggle to trigger korvaak in the firstplace without a bunch of fat OA affixes i suppose ![]()
I asked because you could probably improve devo a lot for HC if you cannot use Korvaak well. Take Behemoth or sth (or maybe not because that requires another skill
)
yeah I did that in some Beginner CT build because it has so much good stuff to proc
depends on playstyle but proccing Bomb in this way could suck for an Obliteration build. And also a HC one. For CT is a bit more suitable. But again it depends.
I died. It was at level 38, to a spirit totem. I was running a poison build and farming up some rep and iron. Don’t have a grimtools for this one.
The aether build takes a lot of farming before it’s good to go. Last time it was ready at level 35, but this time it still wasn’t usable at level 38.
If I had to rank the builds I’ve tried so far, it’s Poison > Phys > Aether. Even with the low regen, physical was good.
Here’s the latest character: Invicta Targo
I played the early game with Slam and Shield Slam. After level 10, those are kinda weak, even on normal mode. But this level 25 build is rather impressive. Works much better than I expected. Love the hammers.
Not gonna share the plan yet because I’m still messing with it. Not sure if I should take Scales or not. Current plan has no RR. Can a phys/lightning build work with no RR?
UPDATE
My nemesis in every difficulty
I’m calling this build a Hammerdin
Easy
And finally, a plan I’m kinda happy with: Classless Targo
UPDATE
Died because I went to the Blood Grove with too little chaos res. The retal build was weak before 20, good until 30, and then kinda weak again. The only thing that works on casters is Brutal Shield Slam. The retal and block devotions don’t offer any healing or OA. Retaliation is hard to play with no healing, and cooldown attacks are super annoying with low OA. I still think the build has potential with more devotions and better gear. Targo’s Hammer should be way more effective with 70% block.
Final grimtools: Invicta Targo
Here’s my latest. Played this one in normal mode all the way to Logh. Then switched to Veteran to finish the side quests. And now, I’ll be going to Ultimate. This run is technically not self found, since I’ve eaten a Chosen mandate. Builds used for leveling were greater fireblast and then greater ice spike. Once some procs are in play, I prefer the ice spike.
Here’s an action shot.
UPDATE
Damn. Pretty sure this was a one shot.
The build was going okay, all things considered. Damage was decent, progress was steady. Life and regen was a bit low, but that was about to get fixed, by Tree of Life.
I think for my next one I’ll be playing the melee build in Normal mode. Progress should be pretty fast that way.
Final update for this character: Invicta 59
Oof, I’m not sure I would have the stomach try this again after all the updates to enemy abilities, sunder, etc.
I dubbed this challenge “the Path of Perseverance” after the medal’s name. Not very creative, I know.
When I did it I didn’t even do ssf. I prepped gear for various levels in advance and even had my friends give me some items, potions, supplies since I didn’t play HC much and didn’t have a comfortable stockpile. I also chose this route since I felt a bit guilty about data mining the secret and felt I didn’t deserve to get “first” for doing it solo self found.
And sure enough, not too long later we had another member beat the challenge SSF, but pre sunder/evade.
First person to pull it off now I think deserves the title of GD’s GOAT.
Back then my strat was to go as tanky as humanly possible with just enough damage to whittle down bosses…
If nobody beats this in 2026 I might take a swing at this again, but SSF for the prestige.
Oh and I was ofc working under the framework of avoiding all unnecessary hard fights. Just need to get the badge.
Genuinely, I hope you get it.
This was the very first SSF one to do it. A long time ago as you can see.
