Make last 5 Devotion points not Gated behind Ultimate difficulty

if they are not (assuming one does not have Crucible), I apologize for my ignorance.

IDK offhand if they are, but…If you want to finish a character, why wouldn’t you have to finish the game? Ultimate is the highest difficulty, so naturally it includes the access to your highest level of power, IE max devotions.

I do want to, but as you probably know, unfinished outer constellations are not really good unfinished and are all 7 points or more (not to mention if you need to respec some things to get your final constellations set right).
By my account, you can have 47 dev. points max before ultimate. So, some very big constellations that can help a lot in ultimate are gated behind it. Starting it without them is…not optimal? (it’s doable but I’d rather go on to a new char then play ultimate just to get 3 more dev. points since I have the gear I wanted on the char). Anyway, I do go over and get 3 shrines but still… why gate last 3 points there?

I do play this game a lot, so I have a lot of gear to build new chars from start to near end. When I was starting (first char), I had nothing and therefore, no chance to even play ultimate, but farm elite (over and over, for mostly blue junk), so not getting to lvl 85 is also gated in that case, which means full builds are gated as well. At least having all 50 points would help a bit to at least go into Ultimate.

But all that aside, I am just curious about those last 3 points of devotion.

Gear farming is ok, it should be something to do for a long time, whereas devotion points are no brainers…just click the shrine, basically.

Ultimate is supposed to be a challenge for fun, just like farming Nemesis, if you so choose. There’s nothing new there (except one sword from ā€œsecretā€ quest, afaik).

You can get those last 3 shrines in acts 1-2, so it’s really not that big of a deal.

By the time you have around 45 points and have cleared Elite, you should be able to hold out until those last few points.

If it is really something you must have, you can pick up a shrine in Foggy Bank, one in the Warden’s Lab and one at the end of Craig’s Crags. You could have those last few points before Krieg if you so wished.

It’s actually 5 devotion points. 28 in Normal/Veteran, 17 in Elite and then the rest in Ultimate.

I honestly don’t care if they gated behind Ultimate. Seems fine for me.

Create a character, do the first quest (optionnal, but it helps), don’t activate the shrine, go to crucible, do five times the first waves, buy 5 devotion points, go back to campaign, play.
You will reach 50 dƩvotions by the end of Elite.

ā€œassuming one does not have crucibleā€

nothing is gated. if you don’t want to play ultimate that is your decision. then also accept the consequences. Just like reaching lvl85 isn’t gated. Ultimate difficulty is the final difficulty. If you don’t want to play it that is your choice. Just don’t ask for stuff you have no rights too.

I must assume you have crucible if you manage to get to 47 before ultimate. :stuck_out_tongue:

I do have it, but I didn’t make this thread just for me, it’s more of a general idea. (yes it is the last 5 points. I did say in op that I might be wrong  Apparently I did take 2 points from Crucible on the toon I was on when I got the idea for this thread…My other toons are either at 50 and lvl 85 or I abandoned them way earlier…

To people that think that I can’t get to ultimate or lvl 85, or can’t take all the shrines - I can, I do, and you don’t have to be rude about it  (ā€œyou don’t have the right toā€ … Really? God forbid if I said that the amount of shared stash pages is laughable and that we should get more…(I am not, because some nice people created stash mods).

He didn’t say you couldn’t. But can and will are two different things, and you are acting as if you are unwilling to go get those last devotion points. If you aren’t willing to do what it takes to get them, especially when it’s so minimal…Then why should you get them?

I do get them, I am saying it would be better to be able to get them earlier, provided you put the effort into finding them. It would make transition to Ultimate easier and less frustrating. Granted, 1.0.0.8 made that a bit easier, but still…
And that poster told me that I have no right to ask for this… At the same time, people get into this game, do the Normal, go into Elite and without gear from previous runs and unlucky RNG, even Elite gets too difficult and they quit the game, maybe they have ā€œno rightā€ to play because they are not geared for it.
I don’t think that’s ideal situation for anyone…All I am suggesting is to be able to get to 50 dev. points before Ultimate. It might help keep some players and would not negatively affect anyone or anything.
Gating content behind difficulty setting is rarely a good thing to do. Players would naturally increase difficulty level when they get bored of being overpowered or when they feel they are ready to. Except for one sword (that I know of) and those 5 devotion points, nothing else is gated behind difficulty setting. Lvl 85 is not really needed, neither is that sword. And with that expansion coming up, I bet you will be able to reach 85 in Elite easily…same goes for 50 devotion…

a bet you’ve already lost then

You are very creative in your arguments… What did I loose?

With the expansion, I would love to be able to reach 50 by the end of Normal without farming, 75 by the end of Elite without farming and maybe even reach at least 50 devotion points by the end of Elite without needing to get some from Crucible.
I hope they won’t reduce the exp earned or increased the necessary exp for leveling.

They are increasing level cap to 100 and adding more devotion points… (assuming) Following the way it has been done in other RPG’s (PoE, D3), extra content will allow for higher level enemies across all difficulties…

maybe I am missing something, but I manage that today already just by clearing every area once… I usually am low 50s (52-54) at the end of Veteran, mid 70s (74-76) at the end of Elite

They are trying to make a point where it would show how without farming you wont have the gear and level and whatnot so it’s nothing unusual if new player (first toon) cannot progress without farming (doing, say, dungeons, multiple times etc.). It’s in sarcastic tone so it’s not hard to miss. Their point is made though, but I am not sure how that helps with anything.

And yes, levels you obtained are pretty much norm for me too when trying something new, even if I am geared really good, I like to clean as much stuff just for fun

Also, thank you sir for making GDStash! Making toons just to use them as stash is another inconvenience which makes no sense since this is not a f2p game like PoE (which allows you to buy stash for $$$)

I’m usually at about 45 at the end of normal and 70 at the end of elite.
Each with all quests done but not every cm² of the map cleared to kill every possible enemy once or more.

Are you using several items boosting xp gains?
