it’s probably because of the rule change
and news would go on the store page, which might count as “linking to outside” or something
basically other (scummy) devs ruining it for the rest on steam, as usual

That’s a really disappointing and surprising move on Steam’s part.
Maybe a Steam super-mod is applying the policy that “Gnomish_Inquisition” so kindly linked above a bit draconically?
If so, I’m wondering if it may help to question its necessity both from the dev and community angles, at least in this particular case.
i’m guessing it’s an automated process and not a mod/they’re too lazy to use actual persons to check this stuff

Is it possible with this forum software to send notifications to all of us (without us specifically setting it up) when Crate post something in the news & announcements section?

I have shockingly pertinent data for this conversation, haha.
The “announcements and information” subcategory seems to only allows new “topics” (posts?) to be created by supermods and Crate employees. That means that all posts are quite official and pertinent announcements/info.
You can actually turn on e-mail notifications and fine-tune them so you only get notifications of topics, comments etc. that you want to get notified for!

Well, realistically it’s obviously going to fail, we hardly broke 20% and there is less than 6 days left. Will we have the opportunity to get merch in the future with this company or will this doom any future chances we would have had?

why not just make it for those who ordered and payed for it
Because they need a minimum number to make it worthwhile to produce. Otherwise it would cost much more.

Is there a way for Crate to use the forum itself to send out an announcement email to all forum members? If that’s possible, that may help for the next campaign (if there even will be another!).

I was really looking forward to these too , I wanted more than one. I think most people were off playing something else. I’m going to have to try and crochet one up for myself but I think it’ll need foam inside instead of polyfill.

we’ve seen a couple times people return saying they wished they were there for X because they wanted it, but wasn’t aware.
Tho i can’t help feel like sometimes these campaigns are also a little brief
(granted falling 70% short this time might suggest wasn’t just campaign duration)
but also no doubt some would get annoyed by an unprompted “marketing” letter

My Portal cube is very, very sad that Crate could not join it on its boxy adventures. GLADOS will certainly find a way to break into the post-apocalyptic world and join forces with the box-head to bring forth unprecedented chaos!
