Mant Eyes drop rate

Ok, I must confess, I don’t know what the best way to get the eyes. I did Immolation and got nothing, then Port Valbury outskirts and got one, then Ancient grove where I got one before the dungeon and one in.

Also not sure how I accumulated 180, I never farmed for them  and I also don’t have THAT many characters (high level at least).

likely just rng runs on mogara + ancient grove + PV quest clear over time, combined with troves and perhaps dismantling? (and ofc SR)
*it’s really not hard to accumulate a lot of XY mat, if you don’t use them (hence me dumping on Celestial Smith to reset things), which might leave you puzzled how/when/where you acquired them

if we take my 9?eyes lvl 60, that’s just a mere 20 chars reaching barrowholm you’d needed to obtain 180, if neither of them used it, then not accounting for dismantles or actual SR runs on top a handful of the ones out of those 20 chars that got lvl 100 might actually have done to increase the amount/cutting down that char count

I haven’t done any significant amount of dismantling, so it could have been much more
I did do some SR runs to test out characters abilities, but also not that much.

But yeah I have about ~20 characters with level >90, so approximately 9 eyes per character. I’m sure I used them for stuff as well, because at one point I was struggling to find them (early in my ‘career’ :stuck_out_tongue: )

Personally I always run out of crystals and blooms. Chtonic seals is much better since last patch luckily.

I believe Grimtools shows the right drop rate (Mogara 30%). I havn’t seen any modifiers/multipliers or challenge layers. I know chests will drop more item in multiplayer games. But no files/evidences show scaling/multiplier affecting materials.

appreciate it

Quite sure mats drops more in challenge areas.

It’s quite noticeable for example when farming Blood Grove vs Tomb of Korvaak.

There’s a chance of course that it’s all placebo

I haven’t seen much of a difference overall.

A bit more than 1 min per mog run + loading screens got me to 23 runs in 30 min, ignoring everything but rare mants on the way (and my build naturally aoes the other mants around mog down). 6 mant eyes, so a bit less than 30%. 26% ish, so that is within the variable, but I still believe it should be closer to 40.

Got 8 eyes from the random mants and the few elites I crossed on my path during the runs
mog runs

So, on average that would be approximately 1 manticore eye ever 2 minutes.

That does not seem entirely unreasonable when being able to ‘target farm’ like this.

more like 1 in 4 minutes if you’re really good at booking it to the boss (and are lucky, as my first run, the boss dropped 1 in 45 min), with a bit more time/a bit of luck to get morenwith Rares spawning around the boss or on the way there. If we count my 8 this time as lucky (because my first farming run that sparked this topic I got exactly 2 eyes on the way to or around the boss over 45 min - after 25, I started running up to the totems and hunting the elites to get the 9 for the relic)

28-32/hour if you are lucky with drops and spawns, 5-10/hour if you are unlucky.

Increasing the droprate from 33 to 40 feels like the right spot. It’s not every other run, but it will reduce the varriance of lucky v unlucky runs with a higher/hour amount overall

In 30 min of trove farming, I almost got enough mats to make 2 of any of the other lvl 60 relics except Arcanist (which requires Killian’s soul, which is a whole different topic, but should also be addressed), while this got 1 with me being pretty lucky with other spawns. (Plus troves got me 5 eyes, a lot of other mats and lots of legendaries/patterns)

Would really be nice if a trove were to appear in Pine Barrens, Shaded Basin, or Jagged Waste – along with a higher drop rate for Manticore Eye from Boss Mogara.
