[MOD] Cataclysm (aka Apocalypse)

I base this on the source files, this has nothing to do with a clean install or lack thereof

Awesome mod, with the most needed features. I played with Dawn of Heroes too, and after that with Cataclysm in pre-Xpac. Its a more cleaned and simplified version of DAIL imo, not that overwhelming, and closer to vanilla i think.

Now the expansion is out, and Cataclysm is the only mod with these additions, but sadly, this mod screams for updates.

I hope 3JIou you can recover your PC, and able to working on this great mod.

Also, i have some problem with recompiling your mod. I wanted to change a few skills here and there, like removing Life Leech per second damage from Nosferatu, and adjust the balance to my taste in general. There are 20+ errors regarding missing templates for the mod added XP potions, Sack of Coins and attribute/skill point potions. Im missing something? Game files extracted and everything else works fine. Any idea?

Edit: I was able to re-compile the source…just imported the oneshot_potion.tpl and now its working without errors.

Did you maybe go a bit overboard with the loss of control effects? I’m playing a melee mercenary and in a large group of heroes it feels like I’m stunned 90% of the time, even if I seperate one or two of them to deal with seperately, I still spent more time without control of my character than anything else. The stuns also last really long, it just doesn’t feel very fun as gameplay.

I agree i feel stunned way more.

I wonder if the Xpac changed some parameters or if this mod did.

I think Druids ā€˜Primal Bonds’ skill for the hive queen is borked. With it enabled my hive queen does no damage at all and doesn’t use its main attack skills, instead facehugging the closest opponent. Acid Shower seems unaffected and still deals normal damage.

Playing 1.9.8 and i didn’t noticed this…also, i have 80% stun resist. Some heroes do stuns and distrupt skills yes, but nothing serious, sometimes i just can’t cast anything for 1-2 seconds, but after that i usually melt them.

I’ve ran into enemies that stun lock me. (That one area that leads to ghosts is always fun! Before getting to the hammer quest when going through the tunnel. It needs dynamite to open area.)

Sometimes til death.

I think last time it happened I had only about 20% resistance and like 40% faster time at being unstunned.

I usually look for items that help with stun now haha.

Sometimes I can run right through that section and have no stun problems other times I get stunned lol.

What are plans for next update ??

so far all seems to work since the patch except for dismantleing

i wanted to try out this mod, but after the actual patch i can“t assign skills to my xbox-controller because the skill-assign-screen doesn“t appear :o

Yes, same here. Actually made an account to report this. When you press ā€œYā€ to bring up the skill wheel all you get is a small box on the top-left of the screen. Starting a regular game or Crucible match works fine.

So, I’ve been playing this for a while. Did you add all these Deathstalker and Deathwhatever named enemies to the game? Because they’re way too over-tuned.
Anything capable of doing 3400 damage in a single hit in Normal difficulty, before say, the final boss is a little excessive. OR you know, guys in the Bastion of Chaos, with like no fire or chaos resistance…
This was a level 30 one, by the way, on the way to fight Darius Crowley.

I mean, I’ve just started playing Grim Dawn recently again, having a very long break, but I can’t imagine these enemies were supposed to do that much damage, but those enemies hit like trucks.

I mean, if it was Mog himself, I’d expect that damage output, with max resists, but still.

Also, I cannot dismantle anything at all! Have you heard of this bug before? It’s weird. I click the dismantle button and it just makes the noise, and does nothing.
It seems to be related to the game not registering that I picked up more than 1 Dynamite. Even though I ran through Crowley’s hideout and got at least 3.
Well, Okay, crafting dynamite allows me to stack it again, so that’s nice, but it’s still completely impossible to ever dismantle any item.
It’s so weird. I’ve never had that bug before?
Any ideas?

Deathstalkers still show up, but my resistances are so high now they don’t do anything. Awkward.

So, uh, does anyone know if Logowhatever the ā€œfinal bossā€ has an attack that cuts health down by percentage, because he was like the only thing to hit hard in the entire final dungeon.
I was using Etheralize, too.

Oh, and Iron Bars are way too rare to drop.
Oh, never mind, they drop a ton in Elite difficulty.
Still having a difficult time completely getting all the dang Soul Stones needed for the Stalker Relics. Those are way too uncommon.

Okay. I just had my first ever crash in this game. Somehow fighting a Plant super boss, with a name like the Living Mould or something.
It’s purple named, which means it’s really special.
So, anyone ever had that?

Hey, 3JIou I’ve been playing your mod through the ages (patches) and come to really enjoy it and the whole evolution of it.

So on char ā„– infinity + 1 (infinity, because I’ve deleted batches of chars before) I decided to look at the Nosferatu. Really wanted to try it, but it was a pass. Something seemed off. On char ā„– infinity + 2 I looked again at the Nosferatu. Told myself no matter how underpowered it looks it will work for the planned hybrid melee vitality/cold build. At level 30 I realized I made a mistake, made a respec and swapped the Nosferatu with Maleficar.
Meanwhile browsing for some fantasy pictures on pinterest - the Nosferatu image was showing daily, for months and even today I’ve seen it several times. It looked just right, but it didn’t know what it wanted to be is what I thought. Neither feature of him was too powerful, nor was it’s dedication toward something. Even the Exclusive was a NEVER pick, because of it’s too defensive nature aka boring. Don’t get me wrong, I like him, but some numbers seem too low and some abilities have CD that neither do enough damage nor do they curse well enough.
At char ā„– infinity + 3 I wanted some poison/acid caster action. Went Occu and looked at all of the masteries and your Nos as last hope. Thought to myself that because of the epic components from Cata I can pair it with anything and transmute the damage to acid.
And after that ā€œconsolingā€ thought I closed GD and decided to make a poison based mastery, because If I don’t do it, all of the other mod mastery creators are just gonna… wait for it…make another garbage pet mastery to take a valuable spot in whatever comes after DAIL! Yes, but that is my pet peeve. :slight_smile:
As for the Nosferatu let me make an example - I’ve had chars on DAIL with over 100k dps with maybe around 180k dps tops. But that was the item affixes mod working in overdrive through many chars of looting the best combinations of additionally generated text. Doesn’t mean those chars were very tanky, but it was fun.
The Nos is lacking in power and flashiness. Gotta give him one of the two at least. Balance be DAMNED!

Ending rant and heading towards the modding tool manual…

Just to clarify - most classes were balanced pretty well until the xpac, I tried all of them in all possible combinations (never paired with vanilla masteries tho). With the release of xpac, they drastically changed overall game difficulty, and due to problems with my PC I can no longer adjust Cata skills/items/etc. I’m making some minor changes here and there, but you know, modding something you cannot play isn’t fun at all, so updates may take ages. Sorry about that.

Take your time, it’s a fun mod, but you don’t need to overwork yourself. :slight_smile:

Also, where do Soul Stones drop exactly? The Stalker material?
The Mythic Relic version for the stalker looks amazing, and I’m not sure where half those items are going to come from. I’m guessing from the Mysterious Locker.
