[Mod] Reign of Terror

Hello Ram! the more Im playing your mod the more excited Im getting.
I honestly think is the closest thing to an actually remaster I have tried.
I also have few questions and I wonder if you could give them a quick look :slight_smile:

1.- How many of the D2 uniques and sets did you implement? (roughly) And do you plan to implement most of them? Do these uniques have new skins in-game or are you recycling appareances of grim dawn items? (I wish I could see the grandfather :P)

2.- What is the maximum level?

3.- Do you think there will be compatibility problems with this mod when the Forgotten Gods will be released?

4.- I don´t know yet how smooth the animation of the wirldwind for the barbarian skill looks like in this mod, but do you plan to use maybe the new animation provided from the new Oathkeeper mastery?

5.- As a necromancer lover, do you think it would be possible to add a small effect on the hands of the skeletal mages?? like in the original D2 that they had frost, fire, poison or electricity on their hands. I know is a really stupid small detail but it would be sooo amazing :smiley: Maybe when act 5 is finished? :stuck_out_tongue:

All D2 Uniques and Sets are implemented.

  1. All D2 unique / set items are implemented. Some items already have new model / UI bitmap, your beloved Grandfather is one of them.

  1. max lvl = 100

  2. FG is going to break some stuff but I am prepared for it. Will try to fix all issues asap once it’s released.

  3. WW currently uses “static spin” animation. Once FG is released, it will be changed to proper movement skill.

  4. I already use this for Abyss / Oblivion knights in the upcoming Act 4 update. The thing with necro skele mages is that they can cast a random spell so there is no way to match their element with glow color. I would have to make 4 separate skeleton types and then I could use this glow. So no plans for it now, but I will probably make it after all base content is done and I start reworking D2 skills.

This is a sick mod! BUT can you delete the GD classes to make it a bit closer to the original? I mean they don’t belong there.

Actually, two classes are too much too because of the lvl cap (60 now?), every lvl only 2 skill points, and leveling is very slow. Even on low levels.

I made a poll sometime ago on this topic (http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77620).

D2 classes still need work before I can consider them finished so right now, leaving GD masteries out is not an option.

2 skill points are gained only till level 30. After that you get 3 points and max level is 100. Leveling is in OK place at this point as you can reach around lvl 35-39 after defeating Diablo on Normal diff and Nightmare starts at lvl 36, so you can continue without having to grind xp in Normal.

I voted: Yes, absolutely.

The reasons, to have more lorefriendly characters. However, I have to admit that there are GD skills that are coherent with the Diablo lore and I see great that they are added as extra abilities.

Hi, just recently started playing GD after a failed attempt to get glide working on D2 again. Found this mod in the forums, and saw your posts about act 4 about to be released. Couple quick questions.

If I install this mod will I lose all the unmodded GD characters I have?
If so is there a way to store them in a different file to try the mod?

And I saw a few posts saying act 4 was to be released this month (kinda what I was waiting for to try it out) and haven’t been able to find out if its acctually out yet. Is act 4 out now? Is there a news feed that would mention such things?

It looks pretty sweet and that youve done a fantastic job so far. Unbelievable that it could get that close to D2 with another engine. I just recently saw the SC2 mod thats a D2 sim. Kinda puzzling when theres this much demand for D2 that Blizzard doesn’t take up on the cash cow it is (I mean who had only 1 copy of D2? No one I know. I probably had 4 or 5 copies myself over the years). Not that I wouldn’t expect to ruin it if they did remaster it… Blizzard hasn’t done anything right since Frozen Throne. I had talked to a Blizzard tech on the phone a little while ago and he said he heard D2 was a pretty good game but never played it. I suspect this is why Blizz has gone down the drain. The old game designers are all good and now theres a bunch of 20 year olds who have only ever played D3 insert yacking emoji here .

Mods are using different characters than GD Main Campaign so you don’t have to worry about losing your GD progress. But if you need to backup your save files then first you need to disable Cloud Saving in game options and after that you can go to your:

C:\Users*username*\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\save\main*character_name* (for GD Main campaign saves)

C:\Users*username*\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\save\user*character_name* (for modded game saves)

There is also a way to use your GD main campaign chars in modded games.

Act 4 is currently being tested by few volunteers, link is distributed on RoT discord channel where I also post development updates more frequently than here so I recommend to join it if you want to have up to date info. Discord link is on the first page.

Just…wow…I’m playing the a4 test and it seems like it’s not even a test, the amount of work you’ve put into this is mindblowing, d2 LoD is my favorite game of all time and playing it under another setting like this is super refreshing, good work to you Ram and all your helpers, just incredible, this is the best mod I’ve played in any game since Median XL

Thank you. We’ve been working really hard to get it as polished as possible so there should be only small things left to fix before public release.

Now, I am waiting for a feedback from other testers regarding changes to MP difficulty that I’ve made. I’ll release public version in the following few days.

I did it! I solo’d hell diablo on my sorc/pal enchant/aura smiter, I found some dracs grasp in a meph run trying to farm for it and they gave me the edge!

edit: and I just did hell cows! so pumped! the trio wasn’t too difficult once I killed the healer, but even after staticing the king to nothing he took about 7 minutes and I had to swap out Fort for Atmas and trangs belt for bladebuckle

RoT 0.4.0 is here, bringing complete Act 4, Act 5 town, shrines, new uber bosses, mercenaries, increased devotions cap, new monster / item models, QoL improvements and many bug fixes.

What if we have the 0.3.0 and the 0.3.1 hotfix installed? Can you still just drop 0.4.0 into the folder or do you need to re-download 0.2.0 and then drop in 0.4.0?

If you have anything above 0.2.0 then all you need to do is drop 0.4.0 in your mods folder and overwrite files. No need to re-download previous versions.

Excellent. I got to act 2 previously and decided to wait for this update.
I like the shrines, and the small tweaks. Looking forward to act 4.

Just a small thing I noticed. All the mana bars are blue now, and the mana potion in inventory is blue, but on the quick menu it is still green. May consider fixing in the next version. Will keep on the lookout for any other bugs. :slight_smile:

I am aware of this (and pet mana bar color). It will be changed once I find the corresponding source files (tried once but no luck so far).
