In all my games.I only had mymod toons for my mod get deleted once when i upgraded grimmilion.I am not sure if it was the mod though.Could have been when i did a clean install of windows that it might have happened.Luckily i had a backup so no real harm
GD Main campaign character saves are separate from modded char saves so you cannot lose them as they do not interfere. However, you can always backup your existing saves before trying anything new (mods, tools, updates, etc). Also, I highly encourage everyone to use local saves method rather than the default cloud saves as using cloud saves might cause sync issues under certain circumstances so switching to local ensures that you will have a full control over your save files.
hey, really cool mod absolutely engrossed in it so far, thanks a ton for the work.
ok, question tho, i have a mercenary and applied it to my medal, if i want to change my medal how do i get my mercenary back off the existing one? ive tried everything i can think of with no luck, ended up having to buy a new mercenary and theyre expensive so i dunno what to do basically?
any help would be great.
GD augments cannot be retrieved from an item so rebuying them is the only option. Cost is reasonable imo considering you dont have to resurrect mercs with gold like in D2.
Some improvements you can make to the Launcher.
1:Make a pause function
2:make it that when you close your launcher when it download. To when you launch it again it continues the download where you have closed the Launcher.
Here in South Africa we have slow internet cause of 2 cables under the sea that got damaged.I was downloading from 23h00 to 07h00 and it was not done.Thatās not your fault but if it had a resume mode it would have been done by 2night.Now i have to restart it 2night and hope itās done by the morning(canāt download during the day)
I am new to modding grim dawn so excuse me if this is a stupid question. I was wondering if I install this mod can I resume my non modded game. I have never beat ultimate and want to, especially since FG but this mod sounds really cool.
Sure, more info in my post above:
Are there any Uber bosses in Act 5? Already killed almost all the loose Uber Bosses (except Arachnaphobia cause I donāt want to run that far just for the boss). Followed the link to the āfanmadeā Wiki and itās WOEFULLY out-dated.
Upside to leveling so many chars is you get farm lots more gear (especially pre-level 30 +1-2 To All Skills), downside is WAY too many dupes once you hit Act 4-5 on Normal+ and proceed to Baal in Act 5 Hell.
I tried the ROT launcher and the standalone version using daemon tools, but its not working. I left it download via rot laucher all night, come back today and i was able to play, but some text was not working and my mana bar, npcs and several other things were flashing red and blue. I could not enter the den of evil.
The Rot launcher also says āāYour rot installation cannot be recognized!āā
When i try deamon tools, it bugs before finishing copying the files.
Anybody has a solution?
Iāll wait for the full release.I had to restart it twice cause of rl stuff. But for some reason the download from the rot server are very very slow.I downloaded a 10 gb file last night when i woke up it was done.I left rot to download for around 13-14h and it was not half done
Hi Iām having some trouble running the mod.
This is the first mod iāve tried for GD so maybe iām just not doing it correctly?
I first tried the ālauncherā method of setup but it does not run for me. The only error message says, could not start, check the author of the application.
So I downloaded the standalone .rar file and placed it in the grim dawn/mods folder as per the instructions.
When I start grim dawn (from steam btw) i see the mod in the custom game menu as Map: world.map ReignOfTerror ~ world.map so it seems to recognize the mod is there.
However when I try to create a character, nothing happens. i can put a name there, but when I click ācreateā nothing happens.
My Grim dawn FG version is v1.1.5.2 and the mod version looks like ReignOfTerror_0.6.1.5_standalone
edit:~ iām running windows 10 version 1909 18363.592. Intel i7 6700 processor Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 graphics card
Any suggestions on what to do here?
Yes, there are 2 ubers in Act 5.
Wiki is outdated because the person who made it hasnāt update it in a long time but all of the existing info is relevant so thatās why I kept the link here.
Use the latest version of WinRAR or 7zip to extract standalone files.
When you create a new character, it should appear in the character list on the right side of the main menu screen. If itās not working then you must have some issues with your GD install so I would recommend verifying game files via Steam and trying again.
Anybody know where the 2nd Uber Boss is at in Act 5? I only just now remembered fighting the one in Frozen River.
From browsing the link, there is a serious lack of support for Lightning damage with RoT/D2 gear but thereās a bit too much Fire support (want to make an Assassin/Sorcerer trap build).
You may want to check the torches in the Throne room for the 2nd Uber Boss in Act 5.
Hey Ram! I just finished Act 5 on normal. I have to say you and the guys made an incredible job. Hats off, really. The best mod Iāve ever seen. I also read the whole thread from the beginning (it took me a few hours), manā¦ you worked a lot on this project. I appreciate it very much. Thanks for your work.
On the previous pages I saw a donation link. Does it work? The quality of the mod just so good and I am going to spend that amount of time with it that I would like to support you as you really deserve it. You have made a complete game almost by yourself.
And another question, in the thread I read that there were plans on a 6th Act. Is it going to happen, or you lost interest in it? (Or I misread something?) What would be its content?
And also it would be awesome if the maps from Diablo 1 could make it somehow in the mod. Unfortunately I have started my āgaming carreerā with Diablo 2 and by that time after playing it Diablo 1 was justā¦ hmm how to sayā¦ was not that good (I have never played that through). However it would be super cool to play those levels as well in a modern environment. Maybe as a side quest or something like that. I know it is a lot to ask, but as I read in the thread creating the maps seems like the easiest thing to do compared to the items, and balancing. At least you guys should consider it
Just wait for Act 6, youāre in for a big surprise. Wonāt say anymore at this moment
Wow, thatās called dedication.
Donation link was just an experiment, nothing more. I removed it after a week as it didnāt feel right considering that majority of other GD mods donāt have any donations available. It would also increase the risk of RoT being perceived in a negative way by certain subjects. Therefore, no donations are / will be available for this mod, it is completely free as long as you meet the requirements listed in the first post.
It is true that we had bigger plans for RoT in terms of amount of custom content but that was at the time of having 3 active developers (myself included) so I had to change my approach when @ Fluffy and @Zakk had to leave the dev team and I remained the only one left. Fortunately, that was also at a time when I was finishing 2nd part of Act 5 so all of the base D2 content was pretty much done and already implemented.
After 0.6.0 release, I received an offer from another fellow GD modder @WareBare to help him with his own game made in Unreal Engine 4 which he started working on some time ago. I had to agree because that would allow us to make games that we want without being restricted by the tools as we can always change them to work exactly the way we need. It has been over half a year since I joined him and slowly started to absorb all of the information required to fulfil the role he needed me for. I am finally in a position where I have enough knowledge to start producing content for the new game project. It is still very early in the development but I decided to give it everything I can in order to make it successful and also, to be able to do this fulltime as working on RoT has shown me, that game dev is my passion and I want to do it for as long as I possibly can. This leaves me with almost no time to continue working on RoT as actively as I was during last 2,5 years.
I have received numerous offers from volunteers to help out with the mod since, but only 2 of them actually contributed so far. @sonophilos and @elvenroth.
@sono had to leave recently due to RL matters after approx. 5 months of helping out which leads us to the present.
@elvenroth offered to take over modās development in my absence couple weeks back, making him the only active dev at the moment. He single-handedly created RoT Launcher which is a huge QoL improvement in a long run and allows him to work much more efficiently on managing and updating the mod. Thatās something I couldnāt have done with my limited coding knowledge as I was always more of a āvisual / artisticā type.
He already had a pretty good grasp of GD modding tools before joining RoT so heās self-sufficient and with my help from time to time, he is quickly getting to a point where heās able to substitute majority of the tasks Iāve been doing for the mod. With that being said, the modās development is back to normal and some of the original plans for adding more custom content have been revived so you will get to know all about them in the future.
Ram in relation to what I have read I have a question - what is the status of this game at the moment?I mean the balance of sets items and opponents, is there still a lot to do, or can you play without a problem?
The mod is playable as is and able to provide hundreds of hours worth of gameplay. Overall balance is an ongoing process, however these are mostly smaller adjustments we are talking about so the gameplay experience should not drastically change in near future, only improve in places where itās outside of the baseline.
