[Mod] Reign of Terror

Hi there! Installed the game as per instructions from the video but I am having some graphical/model issues immediately entering the rogue encampment

  • NPC’S like charsi and Anya are not even appearing on screen (I can see a green arrow over their head where they are supposed to be)
  • mana bar is flashing
-several items in my inventory tab are blue/red checkered over

Is there a video setting I can change in the options? The game itself seems to be running smoothly, but it is kind of unplayable with these graphical glitches

Is there are a video so see how to install this mod for nub people who dont know?

Here in Grim Dawn, skills that are circular are PASSIVES that buff the main skill or can alter the properties of the main skill which is a SQUARE.

as an alternative file host, you can check out https://nopy.to/upload .

It is free just need to create an acct.

All the gear is very possible to farm. Most of the current people that have build guides up farm for all there gear. Its not that amazing once you get a single character up to the level you can farm cows or even high SR.

Hello, I was wondering where you got this “possibly 18 months” timeline?

Experience is part of our roadmap, but that doesn’t mean it will be “easier” to get past 85. But there is also more end-game content planned. Right now I really find it not difficult at all to high 93 or 94 without really trying.

We / I haven’t touched GD gear, or content and won’t until we (The Devs) are 100% sure what direction the mod is going.

On that note we are working on a skill rebalance along with a pretty big handful of item rebalance as of now. So you will see alot more options for endgame viable items and builds in the future.

Сan you distinguish a square from a circle?
Fireball is modifier for Fire bolt skill.

Can you help me, how to add this class to this mod? Should I just add it to mods folder or it should be isnide ReignOfTerror folder? some files asked to overwrite

My bad. It was late at night when I posted that and, apparently, did not recognise the obvious fact that Fireball is a moderator to Fire Bolt.

So I played D1 way back at its release. I couldn’t play D2 because the screen rate refresh for that game constantly gave me motion sickness (first person games do the exact same thing.) Flash forward to 2014. Picked up D3 played wayyy too much of it unti 2018. Then picked up GD. Which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed to no end. I’ve got about 2100 hours in GD. Other than a little tinkering with Grimarillion I have done no mods, nor really cared to.

Finally decided to give Reign of Terror a try and I have to say, this is some stellar work. I think it’s a marvelous homage to both D2 and Grim Dawn at the same time. Seriously it is fantastic work.

I’ve been reading that you all are considering a ‘direction’ for the mod that involves either leaving in or taking out GD stuff. My two cents for whatever part of a vote it may count is to remove the GD stuff that isn’t completely necessary to keeping it in the GD engine. So take out classes and masteries from GD and equipment and stuff. I think it will make the immersion of feeling like it’s still in the world of Cairn but possibly on another continent and separate (tonally.) Plus Grim Dawn is so massive in scale already with character choices and gear/loot drops and stuff, with EVERYTHING in it feels sort of diluted.

Hope that made sense, but all in all, the takeaway I want to leave is that this is truly a remarkable, well-crafted, divine love letter to two already marvelous games. Well done!

I also agree that most of the Grim Dawn item-related content should be removed to make way for more Diablo II content and feel.

I am playing this mod for the Diablo II in it, not the Grim Dawn. To that end, I would prefer to see Diablo II skill modifiers on items rather than the Grim Dawn skills that appear a lot more than the Diablo II ones do.

This is, far and away, a wonderful mod and I really do hope that the Developers continue to put all their passion, expertise and effort in to it for many years to come!

Cheers

Once the Grim Dawn stuff is removed, do we have any idea how things like legs and shoulders will be handled?

They are specially creating leg and shoulder gear since those slots don’t exist in D2 (some of that gear is already in, not sure if it drops or just there to place in the game later), if you look in GD Stash. Some sets from D2 have a Mythical lvl94 version and include either legs or shoulders usually.

Love this mod. I’m not entirely sure how much of the Grim Dawn stuff should be removed. But at the very least, I feel like your primary class should be mandated a Diablo 2 class and perhaps allow a Grim Dawn class as your 2nd subclass to give lots of variety? I take it Devotions aren’t going to be removed, otherwise there isn’t much to Quest rewards and I like the extra it gives for builds.

When the item re-work is complete to get rid of most of the GD items/modifiers, are components going to be removed from the game too? Perhaps some components could be removed while others still kept like the ones that modify rings/amulets/etc pieces that can’t have gems/runes applied to them. Although now that I think about, allowing gems/runes to be applied to re-worked pants/boots/etc would be overpowered in their current incarnation.

Also, I am not sure whats the deal with base armor to make Runewords. They don’t seem to be appearing in shops in later acts and playing Nightmare, I still haven’t seen a Ghost armor with 3 slots drop while I got ton of medium/heavy with 3 slots so far. I’m going to level past Enlightenment without ever getting to wear it possibly lol, if I get Chains of Honor first.

I have been working along side a new Dev. to work on reworking the D2 items. You will start to see changes coming in the next few patches.

I believe they will all be made from scratch, but the issue could arise that the “Purists” don’t want them because they are not “Diablo”

The second part is definitely true, they are there, well some. But they are not finished, this may be changing soon. “May be” :D. The first part goes back to the quote above. How “Pure” of a “Diablo” game do the Purists want. Pants and Shoulders MAY cause conflict with the people who want a “Pure” Diablo 2 experience.

Some people who want the content removed only want some removed, some want all removed, some want non of it removed. Its a touchy subject and quite hard to figure out exactly what to do to make everyone happy. Even a “Purist” and “GD Content” branching system won’t appease everyone. When the time come we will ultimately have to lean a certain way though.

With that said, 1.0.0.0 is still a ways out. So it’s something that is not to much of a priority right now. But we will figure out the best choice for everyone.

Oh. I would like to throw this out. I am looking for someone who has video editing experience. Even just a little is okay, I am not looking to professional quality. If you are interested, message me.

As a purist just let me speak up and say I have no issues with GD pants, shoulder armor, etc. if the modifiers could be tweaked to be appropriate for RoT. The issue IMO isn’t “I don’t want to see anything Grim Dawn in any way/shape/form” it’s more of “I would not like GD content competing with or crowding out D2 content.” There’s nothing from D2 for pants and shoulders to compete with, so there’s no conflict.

Thank You for that. I am not saying getting rid of those slots is what will happen. I am saying it may cause conflict. Some people want D2. Nothing more. Some people already hate that we have Hidden Ubers, or I even had one earlier yesterday that complained about how Uber Trist was accessed. Wanted it to be JUST like it was in D2. There is a line, and we have to be careful when we cross it.

In my eyes if we do the “Branch” the community is going to get split enough which kinda sucks. So we need to make sure we try to appease the masses so we keep the max number of players we can.
