Did a quick run with a fresh character on Veteran (Normal+). Selected Paladin, 1 point into Sacrifice, rest into Might aura and with random white 2h weapon I am killing everything (including Gargantuan Beasts and Zombies) in 1-3 hits. The problem you are facing is due to spending too many points early into Mastery bar instead of skills imho.
This mod continues to amaze me, especially the secret areas/paths.
I never really got into the Grim Dawn style in general (storyline or monsters etc.), and always ended up going back to playing Path of Exile. But this brings back so many memories of Diablo 2, and hopefully it will help me to show more enthusiasm for the actual Grim Dawn, which I will still play properly one day.
In an earlier post i was concerned about minions being under-powered but i just didnât have enough points invested in the right things. Iâm only in the Dark Wood now, but so far they have steamrolled everything (playing both of the available necro classes available), and the clear speed is very good.
Some classes do appear to be painfully slow to start, but will probably shine later on. Thatâs why I am first focusing on a summoner build.
If anyone is having problems with clear speed, once you kill the Blood Raven you get a reward of a Rogue Mercenary who I think should help.
Just a minor bug i noted when using the rogue mercenary, sometimes she doesnât go through the portals, either back to the encampment or to the other map area. This only happens sometimes.
Also Iâm sad you took a way the clear all monsters in the Den of Evil aspect of that challenge, because it has worked for me every time since i discovered that secret area with monsters. So hopefully you bring it back someday ha ha
Hehe, how long did it take you to beat it, on what difficulty and what build are you using? Donât want to spoil anything but in my eyes: beating the mod equals clearing Hell Uber Tristram and Cow Level (yeah, there is Cow Level). I suppose you didnât do those, correct?
Rogue Mercenary cooldown will be lowered in the next update from 600 to 90 seconds so this shouldnât be much of an issue anymore. Problem with the old Den of Evil script was that sometimes it completed the quest after killing 1-2 pack of monsters and the challenge was completely removed. I can increase kill count requirement so it matches an average number of monsters in the cave, that way you would still need to clear most of the monsters.
Affirmative, all of the classes are playable and should be able beat the mod from start to finish. Of course the balance is definitely a long-term task and some skills maybe be under/overpowered but all skills work to some extent.
Best way is to try them all and see for yourself what suits you.
Very excited to see your vision for this Ram, and ofc to eventually play it!
Since youâve utilized some of the Titan Quest assets where appropriate, Iâm curious - will you be relying on the Egyptian tilesets/assets from TQ for the Act 2 tombs etc?
Iâve experienced it a few times now where, if I come back to the Black Marsh from the Cave/the Hole, I end up in the Black Marsh in the middle of the rock formation housing the Hole entrance, and canât move. The one time i just portalled back to the main Black Marsh rift, but another time I hadnât activated it so had to portal back to the Dark Wood rift.
Secondly, after i completed the Deckard Cain mission and came back from Tristram, I spoke to Akara but afterwards it still said i needed to speak to her. But if I did, nothing would happen. How does this quest get finalised? (I didnât get any quest to kill the Smith)
Finally, after you defeat Andarial, how do you activate the next difficulty level with the same character? I donât know if my bug with not being able to speak to Akara prevents me from doing this or if I have to do something else?
I just tried the Deckard Cain quest on another character and it still doesnât register. The other instance I referred to above, resulted in me having to visit Akara in the encampment, after rescuing Deckard, but nothing happens when i do.
Now, with the new character, it says i must visit Deckard Cain, and again nothing happens when i do.
I even saved the character before I activate the 5 stones, and I have used that saved character a few times now, but no joy.
Is there an exact sequence of events that needs to occur for this to register?
Definitely using TQ assets since GD doesnât offer much that would fit a desert theme (already used some in Forgotten Sands area where Uber Duriel is).
Thank you for reports.
Black Marsh cave entrace fixed
Cain / Akara dialog bug resulting in unability to complete the quest fixed
From what I know, mods cannot have âdifficulty lockâ as it is in Grim Dawn (you can select Hell diff with a fresh level 1 character) so the message âNightmare / Hell difficulty unclockedâ after killing Andariel is only cosmetic. However, I did a workaround in form of monster level scaling for each difficulty which is forcing players to play on higher difficulties in order to progress further.
Itâs the other way around, I thank you for reporting them because that way you are helping me to get the mod better. I am not able to test everything myself so the mod would be a buggy mess if it wasnât for people like you.
Just tested the conversation dialog fix and it works 100% without any issues.
Still need to test that Black Marsh cave entrance before uploading hotfix.
With that Black Marsh entrance thing, it might not be for all the caves that "the Hole"can spawn. I tried one earlier in a different location and it worked, so maybe it was just a specific one that was problematic.
[QUOTE=Ram;607610]Hehe, how long did it take you to beat it, on what difficulty and what build are you using? Donât want to spoil anything but in my eyes: beating the mod equals clearing Hell Uber Tristram and Cow Level (yeah, there is Cow Level). I suppose you didnât do those, correct?
I only played Normal difficulty, because I was mainly interested in how
closely it resembled D2. After killing Andariel, it said I was ready to
advance to Hell level, so I figured that was all for Normal. The version
I used was the one you uploaded on the 7th.
My toon used Classic Nec and Druid, and it took about 16-1/2 hours, which
included food and bathroom breaks, of course. (She finished at level 34.)
I did have the problem with no response from Akara after rescuing Cain,
but I couldnât let a minor bug like that stop me!
Thanks again for the great work, and I look forward to the next difficulty
levels, especially the long-awaited Cow Level.
I wish it was a âminor bugâ but this prevented players from gaining valuable Devotion points. Unfortunatelly there is no way to get it retrospectively so after applying Hotfix2 you have to make a new character to be able to complete all quests and gain all rewards.
Apologize for the inconvenience. At least there shouldnât be any more quest related bugs in the latest version.
Fixed Akara / Cain conversation dialog bug preventing players from completing The Search for Cain quest.
Today I took my Spellbinder (equipped with the Diviner set I farmed yestersay) and teared through everything on Hell difficutly. I did not noticed any bugs which happened yesterday and happily reaped spirits from foes (and bombed them with aether meteors).
It was pretty fun, but I would like to have more challenges (my Spellbinder facetanked Anadriel with ease). I wonder how you can gain access to the Uber Tristram .
Would you continue work on subsquent acts later this year?
Uber Tristram can be accessed by beating 3 uber bosses just like in Diablo 2 (Duriel, Lilith, Izual), keys which open portals to these uber locations drop from following enemies on Hell difficulty:
Key of Terror drops from The Counters (Tower Cellar Level 3)
Key of Hate drops from Smith (Barracks)
Key of Destruction drops from Andariel (Catacombs Level 3)
Each key has 8% chance to drop.
Then you have to enter âEncampment Cellarâ which lies beneath Rogue Encampment (entrance is from trap door in the Illusionistâs house). There is a Horadric Device where you put the keys in specific order to open specific portal. Once you have uber organs from the 3 bosses, you bring them again to the Horadric device and insert them to open portal to Uber Tristram.
Also, there is Treasure Goblin that can spawn in any Act 1 location. If you are lucky enough to find and kill him, he will drop Mysterious key that can open portal to Cow Level.
I started working on Act 2 today, hope this answers your question
