[Mod] Reign of Terror

I am speaking of the install files, sorry for lack of clarity.

No idea, I don’t have any issue with opening the zipfiles. Check if your unzipping program is up to date or try a different one. Or try a different link.

Thanks fuzzyd, changed unzip program and all is good.

lovely stuff, downloading now.

I think adding the ā€˜prevent monster heal’ to a few more of the runewords is a great addition. It will really help some classes a bit, because without knowing about that some folks might never beat an uber boss. I know I’m grateful as it will mean that I might be able to ditch this belt I’ve been holding on to for WAY too long.

couple of questions, obviously not expecting or feeling entitled to an answer, but great if it comes  :

  1. I assume that overwriting the files won’t kill anything I’ve currently got going, but will my current (i think nightmare?) level game continue with the old patch levels, or have the new ones?
  2. Is Act VI like a cross or an in-between of D2 and D3?

I only ask the second bit because I’ve never played D2, and when I searched for tips on secret parts of the Act VI levels the internet was doing a ā€˜who me?’ at me.

Act 6 is a remake of the very first Diablo game. As far as I know there is nothing of D3 in RoT.

Hi Ram, can you merge the 3 installation files to only one? That would be great.
Btw, has anyone tried Median xl vs RoT? Honestly I’ve tried MX however they make it quite complicated and add too much redundant stuffs, not my type.

Inquisitor’s Vigor does not work, if you join a multiplayer session. Neither you nor the other party members benefit of extra health and status effect resistances.

You can fall through the floor on an island next to Anya’s prison island.

There haven’t been any reports of players losing any progress after updating to the recent version so you should be just fine.

Next update is going to be a standalone version with reduced size compared to the existing combined files.

Thank you for the report, will look into it.

Probably just GD multiplayer issue. Did you try it in a single player game?

Ubers dont require prevent monster heal. Plenty regular monsters do though.

Inquisitor’s Vigor works in RoT single-player and if I host. It also works when I join an unmodded game session. Are you implying you cannot reproduce the issue?

I’m implying it’s not fixable, as it’s just a grim dawn multiplayer desync issue.

I very rarely use this forum to post anything but i feel it’s my duty to say something, and sorry if I misspelled but English is not my native language.
To put things in perspective I must say that years ago I made a new class for Torchlight 2 (Tenebris) and for that reason I know how difficult it can be above all to achieve a correct balance. My testing phase, only in relation to balance, was more than 2 months. And that, I insist, was for a single class and only balance.
Here you have many new classes, new drop, new maps, new skills, new quests, new enemies, new NPCs, in short you have achieved a completely new world. And the work here, for someone who knows something about modding, is just overwhelming.
With this huge piece of art you were already up there with, for example, Synergies Mod, from Torchlight 2. In other words, there was nothing better in modding for this particular game. Now with the arrival of the new version 0.7.2.0 you simply went out of orbit and into space. No one can ever reach you even in dreams
Thanks.

I have an itch for reality check, I apologize. I follow this mod for looong time, its one of the greatest out there no doubt (which is a huge praise considering there are millions of mods available), but:
Third Age: Total War (Medieval 2)
Enderal: Forgotten Stories (Skyrim)
Median XL (Diablo 2)
Baldurs Gate: Big World Project (Baldurs Gate 2)
etc. are all gargantuan pieces of work, often developed for more than 10 years by entire groups of people, so I would be careful with orbits and stars  I“d say here we are talking quality level so high it equals professional studios and these mods (including RoT of course) are so absurdly good and filled with passion and ideas they cannot be compared.

Cheers.

And this is why I don’t like to post… People not understanding… I said clearly ā€œnothing better in modding for THIS particular gameā€.
Instead of reality checks you should try ā€œreading checkā€.

I totally understood what you meant and I agree with you, dont let the that guy bother you. Also thank you for your contribution to TL2

hello
I only play ROT.
which EXACTLY files do I need to copy from ROT to the main directory to see armor in the main menu?
And won’t that break the ROT in any way?
I will be grateful for your help.

Unfortunately, it is not that easy. You’d have to merge these GD / RoT files:

  • database.arz
  • Items.arc

And then copy the following from ReignOfTerror/resources into Grim Dawn/resources:

  • items_rot.arc
  • ith.arc
  • np_items.arc
  • textures.arc
  • textures_rot.arc
  • Xpack.arc
  • zakks_d2items.arc

There are guides on how to extract & compile .arz / .arc files in the ā€œModding - Tutorials and Helpā€ section.

I had a little trouble with the main account, and I set up a temporary one. In order not to delete the post, I paste what I asked about.
And Ram answer.

I’ve always pursued ways to get the best visuals of any game I play that had less than ideal texture quality. The new DSDSR technology on RTX cards recently got me thinking even more about the performance issues with regular DSR, since myself and most people do not have an RTX card still, and if we do, our RTX selection is one with lower performance than a high end card.

DSDSR is an AI driven version of the original DSR also recently updated for older cards like my GTX 1080. It is capable of, for example a 1.5x render with 4x render quality performance, meaning you get WAY higher framerates!

There is a way to get normal DSR to boost your FPS and get MOST of the extra visual quality of DSR. Large 1440p displays is best for this, and other configurations like 4k displays will probably see no gain. On a 1080p display you might get away with 4x DSR with the game set to the DSR resolution and still be ok, as that was my old way of getting STUNNING visuals, but on a 1440p monitor the performance hit is too much in Act 5 of Titan Quest and some places of this mod or Grim Dawn itself.

You can get both games performing better simply by:

Turning on both 4x DSR and 1.5x DSR. As usual set your desktop to one of these resolutions (doesn’t actually matter that much which I found out recently).

When this is done it will STILL render at 4x, but instead of being a HUGE resource hog with the game at the virtual resolution of say 5000x3000, you instead set your game resolution to the 1.5!

So with the game set to the 1.5 virtual resolution, the game renders in 4x and downscales to 1.5 instead of the native resolution of your monitor. That means you have LESS quality loss than if you downscaled all the way back to your native resolution!

And the lower the native resolution of your monitor, like say if you use 1080p, the HIGHER benefit and quality gain you get by scaling to a resolution HIGHER THAN NATIVE! (In the case of 1080p, only do this if setting the DSR4x resolution actually gives a performance hit)

Now you basically have a setup that performs MUCH closer to what an RTX card can do with DSDSR.

With these setting I’ve been GREATLY enjoying Titan Quest without performance issues in Ragnarok or Atlantis, and now the other day switching back to this mod, and it’s looking exceptional as well!

NO MORE STUTTERING with maximum possible visual quality.

EDIT: The way these settings work well as described above is to set DSR smoothness to 100% and then sharpen to 200% (slidebar all the way to the right), this will remaster the textures in real-time and make them sharper and cleaner looking without texture artifacting.

EDIT 2: I recommended a remastered larger cursor mod in a previous comment to counter the small cursor in Grim Dawn, Titan Quest has no such problem.

PS, found out after well over 100 hours into a Titan Quest character the new 4 acts are actually BEHIND the first 4 acts MINIMUM. I had no idea. So Legendary mode is LITERALLY NINE ACTS! I am bored and need to do something else…

PPS, playing an amazon style bowazon for the first time in this mod. Don’t seem to currently want to continue my trap assassin or cold sorceress (ice bolt).

Unravelled head, 3 sockets, from loot, this vendor will not accept that item. This item cannot be sold, when trying to sell it.

Using Pierce and Multishot. Love this combo! But what about guided arrow? Can it seek another target with pierce? I haven’t tested this. I know guided arrow needs a target, as it’s required by Grim Dawn, but does that also mean it cannot seek another target on it’s own?

I haven’t tried Strafe yet at all. Guided arrow seemed like a poor single target skill so I switched from it immediately, it seemed to have no advantage early. My guess is it uses less mana but not as little as magic arrow. Otherwise it seems like a bad skill. When I say bad, I mean not fun. It’s too much like magic arrow.

So I did research on this board before submitting this response. It says in Feb., 2018:

Amazon guided arrow projectile template changed to projectile homing

So I assume if it does pierce a target, it will be able to track another target instead of traveling straight like Magic Arrow would.

EDIT: I see one thing, guided arrow is more for casting builds due to a casting speed connection. I also see Strafe requires a bow (still not tried). I think I want to stick with multi-shot anyway.
