More type of crops, and also ice fishing

i tend to have more farm as usual, but i think with more crops it will become versatile to farm, if also possible if there’s low content of food, the people can also ice fish for food.

Welcome to the forums!

There have been suggestions posted to add additional livestock, such as sheep and pigs.

It would also be good to include additional crop types, such as potatoes in root vegetables, cotton for cloth, tomatoes and corn. I think the designers are using crops typically available in Europe and not ‘new world’ crops, but that’s just my own thoughts.

I’ve also wondered why fishing just stops in winter. Perhaps ice fishing could provide some fish in winter, albeit in smaller quantities?

We shall see if future content includes such things.

To think there someone with have the same idea as me, fascinating.

I like that idea. But why shouldn’t potatoes be avaliable? They are really not a ‘new world’ type of crop

I like potatoes and would like to see them added. However, potatoes are also a ‘new world’ product. The Spanish introduced potatoes into Europe in the 16th century. Potatoes originated in South America.

It woulde be nice to do the crops depend on type of map :slightly_smiling_face:
corn, potatoes, beans and cotton - in south type of map
Wheat, flax, turnip, peas - in north

I would love to see tomatoes added to the game in the same way that I’d love to see stocks or pillories added to the game so the townsfolk can gather ‘round and lock that one aggressive drunkard dickhead in and pelt him in the noggin with tomatoes

Please and thank you

I’ve thought previously that it would be nice to have a group of constables as both a means of correcting violent drunks and as an early defense force. Presently the only way I know of to halt some drunk killing others is to select them and then run them into the woods until they cool off.

My thought is that the knowledge achievement ‘Militia’ could be instead used to allow creation of a ‘Constable Office’. Constables would act as your ‘minute men’ for early attacks as well as a method to subdue violent drunks. They would be armed only with crude weapons and perhaps have a maximum of 6 constables. As a tier 1 knowledge point there would be no cost. Think of them as concerned citizens and citizen soldiers.

Fun fact: The first police in the world started appearing in the late 18th/early 19th century, and were developed to maintain the class system and protecting private property.

Huh, well you’ll never stop learning…

That’s awesome! Lord knows the covetous marxists are of low earning potential. Someone needed to protect private property from losers whose only hope is state-enforced theft!

And peanuts, new sources of nuts. It can also enhance the fertility of farmland.

Of course, if the historical setting of this game must be set in the medieval era before the Age of Discovery, then incorporating Latin American crops into it is clearly inappropriate.

Devs have said they may consider other crop types, but initially they stuck with Old World ones.

Research says peanuts were introduced to Europe in the 16th century. That would be a couple hundred years after commercial brickmaking, but well before mass produced glassware and preserving food in glass.

If Devs. want to introduce other crops, maybe do it after another level trading post upgrade that brings in special seeds. Or, maybe trading ships ( if on certain map type)?
