Alright so, I know that a lot of people do not like me here. And I’m fine with this XD. So, I will still say what I have to say about two things in the expension that really really enraged me.
First: Xp curve for leveling is too fast, like so fast that is very crapy. The problem is that it seems that they want that everyone should be 100. It should not be like this in my opinion. Why is the lastr level seems to be the normal level that everyone should be? The last level should be something that takes hundreds of hour, but no, sadly. This way, you know if the guy is cheating or something, because you know that a last level character is very long to obtain. But, no, it is normal in Grim dawn. I though that this will be corected in the expension but no. So the max level is actually the normal level. I mean, I played 3-4 hours and I passed 85 to 90. I was walking around in the normal game killing random monsters and I up 5 levels like that ? waaaaiiiit, what a joke. I do not remember the exact numbers but to be 85 to 86 it was around 600 000 xp something, and to be 90 to 91 is like 770 000 D: It is the same numbers. This is a joke when some yellow monsters give 3000 xp.
Secondly: Too many legendaries, they are not rare at all. I will quote Grim dawn guide : ‘‘Legendary items are even harder to find than Epic items. Having one drop is cause for celebration’’
Perdon me, a celebration? No way, they are not rare at all. They are common. To celebrate it should be an item that requires an hard grind or at least a couple hours of play.
That being said, I like the expension so far if I don’t take those aspects into my opinion, but it is very hard because it is the idea of an hack and slash. Leveling and items should be the main goals. And they are broken in Grim Dawn.
And plz, don’t be a troll as always, just tell me what do you think about it whithout saying that I’m not right because I’m stupid or something, I know your song by heart.
I like leveling speed and I like new drop rates. Especially if you have multiple characters, it’d be horrible if it took years to gear and level each one. Grim Dawn is all about re-rolling, trying new builds, and I think these changes support that. I think that’s how most people play GD. Building dozens of characters, not spending months on one.
I don’t know why you still think this game should have MMO drop rates and leveling speed. This game actively encourages rerolling, so taking ages to level and equip goes completely against that.
Sorry, but I disagree. Titan Quest and Titan Quest Immortal Throne were much slower levelling, but you could still finish a straight playthrough at around L60-61 while the max level cap was 75. Short of farming like FOREVER to reach the max there’s no way to get that high unless you like to rerun the whole game without any quest rewards at least once or more or use a mob increase density mod.
And after playing the game for nigh on 10 years now I still have MIs, Epics and Legendaries I haven’t managed to get hold of yet.
The drop rates in Ashes of Malmouth were adjusted accordingly with the amount of new unique items, meaning your odds of getting a specific item are comparable to what they were in the base game.
As for the grind to max level, I think there’s plenty of games out there that offer extreme/infinite grind. Grim Dawn doesn’t need to be one of them.
I understand why you did it but I found it ridiculous. By doing this, yeah you have more legendaries, but you need the same time to get them all (whattt?), so why adding legendaries … sure there’s more builds, but that’s all … So basicly the expension add new legendaries, new zones and other stuff BUT NOTHING in terms of game play time. I have waited one year to play 3 days before hitting 100? Too fast.
And furthermore, you’re adding levels, but new levels are there for nothing. So why adding levels? Why? It is a thing to play game for infinite grind, but it is another to play a game without being max level in a couple of days. At this point, is the same thing to put the max level to 1. I’m not asking for infinite grind, but I want to know why leveling is so easy. I mean, you kill a pack of monster and you see your xp bar boosting by a lot.
You’re adding legendaries this is fine, but you just adjust all ancient legendaries with mythical version. So all other ones are just useless now. I understand the strat as well. It is to force player to find all of their ancient stuff but in their mythical versions. But in the progression line of a new character, normal legendaries are there for nothing, they just do not exist at all because the leveling is soooo fast that you’ll no find them for long. You’ll soon find mythical. So I just don’t get it honestly. I just don’t get it.
Everyone here is talking like the game is perfect, I do not understand that too. The game is just too softcore for me I asume. You just walk in here grinding xp in a couple of days, finding tons of legendaries that are suposed to be a celebration (yeah) and to test builds. i didn’t know it was a test game for builds, I thought it was an hack and slash that you can play for ten years.
What I’m writting is bassicly my feelings. But actually the game is good, but I’m frustrated to be honest because the game isnt exacly what I wanted. There’s so much good things in grim dawn, so much. But so many things that I found not appropriated that bugged me. But I knew exactly that it will be like that, it is not you the problem, it should be me I guess, I’ll play the game until my death anyways …
Do understand that not everyone here has either the time or the interest in pouring tons of hours in the game just to reach max character or burn the existing contents. The game is actually quite properly balanced so far in terms of loot drops and content consumption. This is a single player game, why bother making stuffs excessively difficult just to appease a handful of hardcore wannabees?
If you don’t like it, then refer to the modding section as I am sure someone must have made a mod to fulfill your demand. As long as the casual players are the majority of the consumer, they have to be appeased over the few hundreds hardcore players. People have other things to do beside spending their entire free time on grinding in a single game. They pay for entertainment, not boredom.
It’s pretty clear that you will be better off in PoE as it should have what you need, at least a more hardcore loot table.
Well most Mythical Legendaries can only be equipped by characters above level 85, that’s why they increased the level cap!
I think some theory crafters could argue that the extra few levels drastically changes build potential. It’s basically maxing one more skill, or perhaps maxing both mastery bars. Who knows what? There’s some possibilities here I think.
I never said you did. I simply made the suggestion based on your original demands. PoE is targeted for multiplayer so they have mp-oriented loot table where most rare items have obscenely low drop rate. Seems like you are up for that kind of stuffs, and hence my suggestion.
Based on your last argument regarding whether GD is multiplayer or single-player, it is clear that you haven’t yet realized or accepted the fact that GD is indeed a single player game, so it will never have those artificial difficulties of a multiplayer game.
What I meant is that I have tried pretty much all games of that type. And they all sucks, specially PoE. This game is terrible in all aspects. The two kings are Titan Quest and Grim Dawn.
You can make a mod only for longer grind and different drops. It should be easy. I remember torchlight 2… they have huge variety of mods only for increasing/decreasing drop chances…
Well then unfortunately, you won’t have your demands satisfied. What you propose is exactly the opposite of what I propose and I can firmly say that the casual crowd is way bigger than hardcore crowd which can pour tons of time/effort on grinding and/or wants artificial challenge such as steeper leveling curves. As I have suggested earlier, try getting a mod or two, which suits your need. There are several available on the forum (not sure how many have been updated for AoM, but all of them should get updated in a week or two anyway).
There’s way to actually make a game for both, casual player and long terme player. But it seems that it doesn’t matter for Grim Dawn. This is what is sad. That being said, I will play the original game for years, even with all I’m saying. I do not want mods lol. As I said, I like this game a lot. What I was saying was just my thoughts.
Do give some arguments to justify your point because in this scenario, it’s not possible as the choices are polar opposite. Satisfying the hardcore crowd will upset the casual one and vice versa.
I dunno this game is pretty hardcore in a lot of aspects. Gladiator Crucible 150. The special bosses that wipe the floor with noobs. All that requires super well tuned and perfected gear, and I know no one’s got that after just a few days. A casual player would never see any of that. Even the special dungeons are pretty hardcore focused, letting you die zero times.
The only “casual” thing is that it doesn’t take months to hit level 100, but that’s a small concession to the casual player when they’re basically locked out of experiencing the content I mentioned above.
