As the topic says that storage management between far areas is very difficult at the moment.
Even if the player puts storage containers and some houses near the remote area only the workers working in that area put the stuff in those storages, but the problem I notice is that other buildings that use these materials, the workers will have to run all the way to the far off storage to get the supplies, sometimes the workers in the remote area run to far off location to put the items in other storages (not sure why).
Some of the points that could help according to me:
- I think the wagons should be involved (or a new profession) that deals with transferring items between storages.
- Any production building should have a customizable radius that sets a limit for workers to get items form and drop items into the storage in that area or other production building and that will be their first priority, if none are available then the worker can run to far off distance to get or drop items.
- Like we have production limits for global items (settlement items), similar per item quantity can be set at individual storages, the quantity maintenance will be the work of wagons (or new profession).
Because currently at least I have major issues going at far distances as the workers will get the items they need from far distances, else I will have to make another minor village in that area. Even if I manage to make a minor village the workers still will run between the villages for basic items.
I hope the explanation was not complicated.
