No one came to put out the fire

A building caught fire during a blizzard and everyone in my village was sheltering. No one came to put the fire out. It spread to two other buildings and they all burnt down. They were industry buildings too, so I lost whatever inventory was inside.

I have made this suggestion before but I’ll put it here again:

  • Add a Fire toggle to the custom options

One thing I did not try, because I didn’t think of it at the time, was selecting the villagers in their houses to come to the fire. I don’t know if that would work? Can you force them out when they’re sheltering from a storm?

Anyway. Fire toggle, yes please.

I’ve had that happen once or twice too. The worst time I lost my first stable and all the expensive (and sometimes hard to acquire) horses.
A toggle in the customs settings would be nice. I can’t say the situation has happened to me very often though. When it hits an especially valuable building it can be aggravating.

Just bear in mind that if Crate did add it to the Custom Settings it would disable any achievements you might be going for.

Also have you researched the reduction you can get re fires and putting them out in the tech tree? That might help a bit.

Yes, I know. I always use the custom settings anyway.

Yes. I actually don’t get that many fires.

This is just the first time I have had a fire where everyone was sheltering from a storm. I never experienced that before and wasn’t expecting them to ignore it

Alternatively, would it be possible to use manual control on workers to put out a fire? If you use manual control now, they walk into the fire and start repairing the building instead.

This definitely needs fixing, but honestly, it’s kind of funny to see people repairing a house while it’s on fire.

Preacher: That fire? They didn’t tithe this month, like they should have…

I have noticed that when villagers respond to a fire, they drop off their one bucket of water and then leave! I had a building burn down with a well sitting directly next to it because the nearby people dropped off a bucket and went back to work. But the farmers, fishers and work camp people had to walk farther to get there, and the building burned down waiting for them.
Perhaps if there was a way that " all adults within radius size X around fire location (not to exceed # of people) automatically reported to the well closest to the location and continue transporting water until the " on fire" status was removed ?
Or maybe town defenders could be on-call firemen if the village is not currently under attack?

There needs to be water in the well nearby for anyone to show up to put out a fire.

The radius of a well is it’s limit of fire response ability.

If there is no water, there is no fire brigade.
