Make your voice heard. You can also let the developers know that we don’t want it by giving them a plus.
As there is a chance that Grim Dawn 2 will happen in the near future, let’s stick to the original plan and avoid any online-only or season-specific content BS!
Pre-production is due to start some time next year. Game itself is unlikely to appear for another 6-10 years most likely. A lot can change in the gaming world in that length of time. Crate are pretty aware that their player base prefers non-seasonal game play and not always online, but if that is what is the norm by then maybe they’d follow suit - or maybe not. Far too early to know/guess/hope.
Personally, I am a season enjoyer in ARPGs, however I understand that not everyone is. My suggestion is just keep the functionality the way it is now with GD 1 to where the community can create their own seasons if they want to. This way people who don’t want to participate won’t feel the FOMO if they choose not to.
Agreed. I really like the idea of additional content added on a set schedule of course to remain after the ‘season’ in an offline capacity. I am also willing to put my money where my mouth is and pay for such a structure.
One of the reason why I like Grim Dawn, beside the game itseft, is that it allow me to play at my own pace.
I am not a big fan of always online games.
Funny enough, before playing Grim Dawn, I always though that ladders/seasons/leagues was the way to go. But, I usually play on my own anyways and you still have a sens of community in Grim Dawn with the forum, Twitch and Discord.
Realistically, that format of making “offline” games allows Crate to make different games more easilly without having to grow too much. Furthermore, Always Online demands a different schedule of updates and that doesn’t mean quality as we know it from other games.
This is very important for me as well. I’m not 16 anymore with nothing better to do than play games all day. So while sometimes I might play a bunch, other times I won’t have time for weeks or months. When I do have time I don’t want a game to have ‘moved on’ from where I left it. It increases the effort to get back into it, which in the past often ends up preventing me from playing it at all.
Keep the vanilla game for non seasonal characters, but why would it hurt to let people opt into seasons kind of like Diablo3 did? Let people choose for themselves instead of just saying no seasons period.
I personally would love to have seasons implemented if it makes sense, and if people don’t want to join the new season then simply don’t click the check box for a seasonal character?
Grim dawn is not fully finished. I might have missed it, but seasons were created by a modder who created seasonal materials. It was purely optional for grim dawn. And Im guessing some brave modder will do the same for seasons on Grim Dawn 2. But thats down the line in a bit.
Just noticed this thread. I guess it is necro’d now.
I very much like seasons and, all other things being equal, would love them to be a feature of Grim Dawn 2. However, I think it would be a big step for Crate to commit to supporting that as you need infrastructure and a continual flow of content, which is a lot of $$.
Sure, but imagine if things like the fan-leauge/seasons was official part of the game…
I mean there is a reason for why PoE games are so succesful, and it is not because they are easy games (like the diablo games).
