No Seasons for Grim Dawn 2

I mean, if the problem is more about killing celestial, than it’s kinda ok, that’s not a dead build.
Most of my build that I play and liked, I was able to keep them up to date and still be able to do SR 32-33 or the equivalent before the change (Sr 80-81)

I strongly think that if your build can farm SR 32-33 it’s a win. Celestial is another beast and not mandatory to enjoy the game, as long as you have one build that can do them when needed for the gear that they drop then it’s fine, but that’s just my opinion.

It was just an example. And sure celestials are not mandatory to enjoy the game but what it was the thing I enjoyed most about the game? Grim Dawn has changed a lot in just the almost 3 years I was gone, and I do not think it is more fun. I actually thought about quitting but then I find joy in just playing SSF builds (which is more easier now compared to before due to lower physical damage dealt by mobs and so on). But it was close. And it would not matter, because I have already paid crate when I got the game and dlc’s and loyalist packs. I do miss the “old days” when FG was new and octavius warlord was just sooo bonkers and fun! You will argue that “it has not changed playstyle wise only performance wise”… true but it was just so fun! And the RATA drain essence builds… omg game was fun. Now it is more balanced… but is it more fun? Not sure. SR used to be harder too, now even meme build in faction gear can do SR 25 no sweat. Perhaps it is also due to me being better in playing the game :stuck_out_tongue:

I strongly disagree here. Balance is good, because the goal is to make ‘all’ things equally well playable. OP builds are boring. If the game becomes too easy, it’s not that fun to play for me.

Making it guaranteed to get screwed up by introducing seasons doesn’t make it any better for me. It just makes it so that I won’t even try, because I already know all my effort will be wasted. And I don’t want to keep up with all the changes. GD might have over-nerfed some builds (and over-powered some others), but the general mechanics are still similar enough that 99% of the builds you had a few years ago still work today.

I think the game (main campaign) is generally too easy. And it’s not just because I know better how to play. I had characters that I quit on because they were just bad that had no issue slicing their way through the MC after. I don’t know if this is because they were better balanced and everything was always supposed to play like that or if it’s power-creep.
I do enjoy starting in ultimate, because at least there you have to watch what you do (early on) and it’s less of a facetank simulator :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it depends on how OP the build is. In GD “op-ness” is kinda small relatively to other ARPGs. So what defines as balanced vs OP kinda depends on perspective. Sure, it was silly to play those fevered rage retal builds against calla and ravager and see how they just hit themselves to death  but that not made the other builds boring. Same as in say Diablo 2 which I know many here love. The builds there are OP, mosaic sin, hammerdin, lightning nova sorc,… but they still play them over and over again but also other builds which are not as strong but offers other playstyle and pace.

Depends on what you mean with “works”, I was not pleased with any of them. Sure some just needed some updates in terms of other augments and components and such, but that is soo fiddly to farm blooms and crystals, click blacksmith bla bla bla… so annoying.

I don’t know about that… I have many thousands of hours in this game and I still get killed by Act 1 boss every now and then (in Elite or Ultimate difficulty). Similarly I don’t even attempt Father Kymon or Korvaak in Ultimate until I have close to my end game build. Kymon himself has killed more than one of my characters who had previously defeated Lokaar. Maybe I went into those fights over confident but still…

Main campaign is meant to be a stepping stone into harder content, giving new players an area to farm items. Also of course it’s gonna be easy for someone that knows what they’re doing.

I can’t seem to find the link for it…

I’ve read there is a new law coming after game companies that makes these online only games and they will be forced to comply with giving offline play for the players.

It is about if servers are shut down permently and if the game does not have clear “warning text”.

Like “NOTE this game might become unplayable in the occurance of server shutdown” etc.

There is always such possibility with online games and EA is the founding fathers of it lol

Not sure what falls under harder content then. But I do enjoy playing the campaign more than SR (too random) and boss fights are ok, but more of a one time thing.

Let’s be honest; we don’t even know what the gaming landscape is going to look like in 6 ro 10 years’ time.

Most definitely A.I rulership!

Krafton will execute this with Last Epoch

last thing i need is some assholes playing with me

Oh you are so getting played Sir!

God no seasons please. I like the “persistent” world of Grim Dawn. I like how, despite how practically every other ARPG does it, Grim Dawn and by proxy Titan Quest do not. It sets them apart. It allows for offline play. It doesn’t try to force FOMO to get you to pony up money. Titan Quest and then Grim Dawn were successful because of how content heavy they are, and that content is always there. Everything added stays. Seasonal forced online ARPG’s the same can’t be said for. Many seasons special content is both shallow and temporary. The special features gone poof after the season unless they add that special mode into the base game. But then bloat becomes a problem in and of itself. It’s the dev’s gimmicking up your game to rope in more streams and more dollars. Grim Dawn gives you mountains of content initially and keeps adding it, and improving it long after you would consider its lifespan over. They don’t do it for money they do it for love of the game. THAT is why Crate has the reputation it does, and to me why it’s the new Blizzard, in that I’ll buy every release from them sight unseen. Goodwill and trust with the community, and frankly seasons imo would destroy that.

but does not stays the same.

or make it worse for some.

Could be solved similarly as with the community leages, each leauge can be played in its own in offline mode or similar.

When people say seasons are key

I’m like…

Seasons are fun and HYPE and brings the community together!
But, they should not be mandatory

The same reasons you feel about these so does the opposite. It’s pointless forcing developers to meet their cycle ends, and for what exactly? You play a season it’s over and the content, by which herein we have the contents and can always go back and play it.

Diablo 3 players be like “season 34 let’s goo let’s do the same shit over and over again”
Diablo 2 players be like “ladder 453 let’s goo let’s do the same shit over and over again, tp plzz”

You favorite game of all times, the deeeeep Diablo 2 has seasons/ladders

I bet if monopoly had seasons they would be even more succesful! Last time I played it, we had REAL money :money_mouth_face:
