Official Grim Dawn Kickstarter Thread

Absolutely, not a day under $5000 and the goal will be reached with plenty of time to spare. Icing on the cake, is all that is left to “worry” about.

I sleep much better at night now that the Kickstarter is basically guaranteed to be backed.

Yeah I admit I was a bit worried and sad to see how slow it goes but now I am pretty happy. I wish I could have pledged myself but as it turned out you really NEED a credit card. :frowning:
Unlike in US it is not too common to have a credit card in Germany.

@ father squid
ok … i knew that and i understand it is hard to put up a new video
just that i see relatively new videos on youtube posting the first pre-alpha vid as gameplay video ( though i think the occultist would have been more appropriate)
if you check the kickstarter you’ll see that there are a lot of undecided guys
they need an impulse that us (fans) can’t give them
and some answers
can’t a moderator or a ‘veteran’ on these forums help them with this ?

PS. i really hope that meeting the mark and having a new set of goals will provide an increase ‘boom’

That’s probably not likely either. Although we help with the forums, we are not employees of Crate in the strictest sense of the word… and with the global community that the internet provides, we are even more spread out. I’m the only one on the right side of the Atlantic, and it’s a toss-up by my calculations whether I’m closer to Medierra or whether Rhis is… but at least he is in the same country…

… you can’t have everything, can you?

Well, you won me over on the $85 tier (free expansion pack and a glowy pet ftw?), but I don’t see any pledging options for a legendary key holder to upgrade their pledge to that level.

“Uhm…what I do now? Caveman confused…not so easy I can do.”

Check the first page of this thread for info on what to do.

Feel like caveman. I had read that part and was looking for the pledging tier options that would connect the $48 to the $85 and scratching my head. The answer was “Duh…pledge the specific amount you need to?”

I’m assuming that I don’t select any other reward options to get upgraded to the $85 level right?

Yes, you just pledge the difference in cost, select no reward and then email [email protected] to get the reward matched up.

What we need most right now for the KS project is some good publicity and that is what I’m working on. I’m currently doing a couple written interviews and will be doing a couple more video interviews this week and next. I’d really like to see us up over 10k backers and that means introducing the project to new people.

A really interesting update can potentially get a little press but mainly it just goes out to existing backers. We want to reach new people, not just sit around devising schemes to drain the wallets of our existing backers dry. We are working on more updates and hopefully will have some cool stuff to post later this week but we can only create them so fast and we can’t show stuff that we don’t have working yet. We did just release an update 3 days ago and its the weekend.

Exclusive items are all well and good but adding even more to what we already have is going to have a minimal impact. I’d attribute 95% of the increase in pledges for Nekro to the publicity they got from Total Biscuit going into their last week and the additional media attention that generated. It sounds like the DarkForge people feel the same way. A promising KS project that is falling short of its goal is interesting news and tugs on people’s heart-strings (read as wallet-strings). If you look at the number of people in the exclusive pug tier and the cost difference with the tier below it, that’s only $3800. The big success of Nekro in its final week is the number of new backers they brought it, not the amount of extra money they earned off existing backers.

Believe me, I’m not just plugging along on development as usual and ignoring the KS project. I’m focused on making this a success but there is only so much we can do with the time and resources available. We greatly appreciate all the suggestions and feedback both posted as comments and received via email. We’ve listened to them and we’re doing our best to pursue the options that we believe will yield the best results but we can’t pursue them all and certainly not all at once.

That is fantastic to hear. I think we all know that your working ridiculously hard on everything that is Grim Dawn. Keep up the good…no wait… great work.

I am sure once you have hit the 280k mark it will open up a few more avenues. Places like IGN or Gamespot will be more interested knowing that the game is going to get the money it rightly deserves  Which will probably leave about 10 days of good solid PR for the game which hopefully will bring in the increase in pledges

Keep pumping it out

Awesome, really looking forward to the interviews and I’m sure they’ll help for that last push one way or another.

Have you thought about styling your beard in the form of Schafer’s hair? Maybe that would bring in a few extra k’s.

I don’t think there is any way I could capture the magic of Tim Schafer’s hair in my beard but I’m willing to give it a shot!

Beard trumps haircut any day of the week.

I think that Kickstarter is doing very well and I’m sure we’re going to get the 280K. The other day I read an article that 3/4 video game fails on Kickstarter.
So I think Crate can be very proud of their achievement.

I’m getting the impression that there is an onset of Kickstarter fatigue when it comes to computer games projects. Gamers are a fickle kind of people it seems, but it is kind of understandable as there have been a lot of big name KS projects and actually no finished end products as of yet (though there is Orion: Dino Beatdown, but that is from a KS project way back in feb. 2011 (and not really a big name…)).

But I think Crate can be extremely proud with the support they already have gained through KS, though I agree with medierra that 10k+ backers should be the end goal to be achieved. Still, as of now less than $6k to get to the funding goal! Oh the tension  If this doesn’t reach $280k by this evening I’ll eat something! (preferably edible…)

Maybe with a wig.

Thanks for the update Medierra. Agree very much with your analysis and ethos as well as appreciating Crate’s hard work - just don’t make the game impossibly difficult for those of us who love games but are not very
good at them

Less then 5k to go, Congratz everyone, but I still hope that the last week we will get tons of backers, who will be confident because we reached our goal!

Today is probably the day that the funding goal gets hit, which leaves ten glorious days of opportunity. The future looks bright, or is that Grim?..
