I searched for over 1h clay on the sand map and found nothing
Not all maps will have clay or other resources. You will have to trade for it at the trading post if you don’t have any. And have you completely explored/uncovered the whole map? The area you start in is just a very small part of the map you’re playing on. Set out exploration flags so your villagers will go out and uncover more of the map for you.
