Yes Anastaria is a monster with her resists reduction. Btw if you don’t know overcapping resists doesn’t help with Anastaria - her resist reduction will take you to half of whatever your char screen was displaying when you got hit. So even if you have 90% Aether resist (with an extra 40% not showing) you’ll still end up at 45% resist. Evil witch.
Oh thank god, it wasn’t me sucking. Just had this happen on Gladiator wave 130. 17k health, 80% vit resist, hit blitz right as I saw him raising his hand up and died the second I reached him. I’d cleared every other mob off the map. Came here specifically to figure out what the hell just happened to me.
ETA: I mean, yeah, in retrospect I should have known it was the shotgun and thought about it, but I never fought him real often before and usually when a tell happens it means shit is about to get real and GTFO of where you’re standing is a good idea. Smacking the boss in the face is just a bonus.
I am courious to try my HC Warder on this. I didnt play game for 6 months since i did all easy. Now i am thinking of buy this dlc and try this. I read all the warning about hc got one shoot. All i can say is i will buy this and i will try it. If my warder got 1 shot then the game is unbalanced. This are my stats
All ressistence 85% on ultimate, 22k Hp, armor absorption 99%, no chance for crit…
‘On death’ DOT Nova’s is what usually gets me.
Use up a potion to barely scrape through a difficult battle now suddenly my barbarian rage wears off and my constitution drops to negatives (speaking in metaphorical D&D terms).
R.I.P.
I agree One shots should have animated lead up, it’s a simple low impact balance.
I mean A.I. is smart enough to spot you through solid walls half a screen away and path a maze to you, least us players should get is a heads up on our death sentence.
It won’t matter much in crucible if your hardcore you don’t ‘quit’ a fight, got to see it through it’d just a shame that these hits are so large because of the system that you basically have to deliberately spec resistant tank for all builds just to do hardcore.
Personally I tried it restarted a few times and went you know what? damage balance is off hardcore is not fun for me.
The developers made it punishing to give lackluster animated hits some ‘oomph’ and to speed up the action part of it’s ARPG; it’s just the side effect, you aren’t ever safe from one hitting unless you’ve spec’d for total absorption, massive health, circuit breaker healers, reflection, spell absorbers and shields.
In the words of Marceline from adventure time ‘like fighting a cutting board’.
I would like to be the 100th person in this thread to report Zantarin as a one-shot nightmare on the easiest Crucible difficulty. The situation is so bad that “grim dawn zantarin one shot” is a recommended search on Google and there’s at least 3 threads on r/GrimDawn about it.
I can get to wave 100 without using a single potion on a glass-cannon build, using only the Tribute Points I get along the way and I have never gotten past Zantarin around wave 120-130.
One comment on reddit says that “Zantarin’s damage is almost entirely avoidable” and while I believe that to be true, the Crucible is much less about gracious tactical and methodical play compared to the campaign. While yes, there is some strategy to playing Crucible, it’s much more about frantic and intense heart-pounding hack-and-slash. Having to break the rhythm and play a completely different game for this one mob in this one wave out of 150 waves is completely borked balance and could really use an immediate fix, whatever that fix may be.
Crucible is hack and slash but success rate and speed is based on player’s piloting skills including tactical thinking. When you reach 151+ wave on higher difficulty Zantarin will be your weakest enemy
But there are tactics for everyone. So Zantarin:
his most dangerous attack is shotgun skill, which have multiple projectiles. Closer you’re to him, the more projectiles you eat. It’s usually one shot hit up close, I have survived with Infiltrator Shadow strike but it’s rarity. But for the record only defense other than skill that can give minor help is avoid projectiles. Divinity, Ghoul and others are no go.
Attack is telegraphed. Zantarin raise his hand and you have 1-2 seconds to get away quickly before you’re killed. Also his got smaller shotgun skill, which can kill only weaker characters or you’re already low. Also he summons minions and is resistant to life steal.
To avoid Zantarin shotgun skill you need to see his “hand wave signal” and avoid it at all cost. If you can’t avoid Zantarin at 151+ it’s Alex, his meteor will one shot you too. Father’s Kymon jump, Anasteria aether attack, Reaper’s Savagery attack, all needs cautious and knowledge how to deal with them. And yes they can one shot you as well, game isn’t broken and badly balanced against one Nemesis. I want to help you, not to insult you!
