Patch SCREWED Months of work

I’m really confused, every build that I have, even ones I’ve theory crafted and not leveled yet, have been helped and improved with this patch, even my Cabalist summoner. He used to take Blightfiend with the Lost Souls set and barely focused on Hellhound, now he can forget about Blightfiend and go all in on the Hellhound because they improved the synergy like 100-fold lol. Yeah sure, that’s gonna take some reworking but in the end my build will be stronger for it, overall I’m ok with that, even if it does take more effort because I end up with a better build… in the end that’s a profit and net gain over all.

Not a single one of my 30 odd builds have been hurt by this patch, so I’m not sure I can understand the complaint. My Conjurer will now just focus on Briar’s and I’ll move my birds stuff to another build too, what was once a single pet builds is now spread over two different builds of which I’m totally ok with, as it just means moar builds lol. And then there’s the poison pet set coming out too and overall that means that there’s many flavours of decent pet builds now and I’m SO ok with that haha.

Also I have no idea how you could imagine Purifier ever being dead… you’ve seen the guy who face-tanks and kills Lokar in 19 secs as a Purifier on Youtube right? Hard to imagine a build using that class combo that would now be non-viable (due to what changes specifically?) lol. Not meaning to be snarky or rude, simply an honest observation, but maybe your builds might be the issue here?

I just want to point that…nobody decides that your time isn’t worth much but you, because ultimately, you decided in the first place to spend your free time on a videogame. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing videogames, it’s my main hobby. But I do think your main problem is, specifically here, a mentality problem, in the sense that you feel like you need to blame someone for the changes. Try to be more flexible, to see things from a different angle. I’m not saying my perspective is the correct one, but I do think it is healthier, as in, less anger, stress, and aggressivity, more fun and wonder, which is what gaming should be about. Especially in a solo game where you can mod the game back and forth.

In the end, classic cars are fine and dandy, but you have to make some maintenance if you want to keep using them. And if you’ve won the Monaco cup with one, well, maybe the memory of the race is more precious than the car itself, or in any case, I do think it’s an healthier approach.

Ignoring all the vitriol, can’t you just roll back the patch to play the game the way you want it? Sure, you won’t have access to that shiny new Tesla all the other kids are playing with, but your Shelby will run just fine - which sounds like what you want.

Separately, you have made it clear that in your eyes you have devoted serious TIME to this game. What I want to ask you is this: for a game you paid a maximum of $33 for (forgive my assumption that you, too, are from the US), did you not get a good return on investment for the time you ALREADY spent? Gold standard is usually a dollar per hour enjoyed. I can’t imagine that your first two fully stacked 100s took you less than 33 hours to achieve.

I don’t think gladmark will be replying to this post.

You are being reasonable but some people want to play and have the entire game exactly the way they want it, which is fine. But then the issue arises that they offer no attempt at understanding that balance patches are done with the intent of broadening the entire scope of builds across many playstyles, while trying to buff up extremely terrible outliers and nerf down extremely powerful outliers, even if it means losing some builds that are weaker variations of said outliers.

And in general when it comes to ARPG balance the idea that you have to “crack a few eggs to make an omelette” is very apt. I mentioned previously that I’m in the same boat as you with my 100+ toons.

-Many unaffected or changed so little in performance that they’re basically unaffected. (though all benefit from the health on spirit and cunning)
-Many buffed to some noticeable or big degree.
-A few nerfed and hurting.
-A few nerfed and still fine.

We could all be a little more empathetic to the type of player that loves only one type of build or even just one build, and gets nerfed to some significant degree. It sucks. I think we all just wish they understand that there is purpose to these big over-arching balance patches continuing and that they do more good than harm.

Then you should play classic games that are no longer developed, or patch back

I also want to add that you can trade for any purple you want using ugdenblooms, scrap, etc.

Let’s be honest, if I could convince her to actually do it, even my grandmother can farm ugdenblooms with any character in the game. And she basically has glass bottles for glasses.

Thats just nonsense. As a casual player i dont feel disadvantaged by a regular maintainance of a SP game. Its always a good thing.

Even i was able to finish and update my character at the rate it is being patched. And i played 250h trough all of 2018. Its people being butthurt over nothing and everything these days. If your time is limited then dont play 5 characters and expect to get them all top level gear like in the build compendium.

Edit: someone who plays 3h a week is done when hes trough ultimate or takes things at his own pace and doesnt
care about patches. OP and others are overreacting and tyats an understatement.

Ok, I said I wasnt going to post another reply as the original poster for this thread but I just wanted to say thanks to everybody for their feedback. Most of it was very constructive and as also said before it really shows GD players are a special group. These are the people Blizzard Ent. lost when they went arcade and ditched the magic of D2.

I played my two Chars today to see if I could make any tweaks but the main difference is I have to play them just a tad differently. I cant just go in and have Lokarr and facetank him like before. I have to put my back against the wall but I CAN kill him. And to me, thats the test of a successful build on here. The Lokarr test. Modrogen is another story so I dont even consider that. If you have to kite…thats a failed build for me and I cant stand it. So to sum it up, all is not lost. I had to come on here and let people know and be honest about the results of my builds after taking more time with them. Initially, I felt like someone robbed my house and i was pissed. They are weaker, that is a fact and I have to play more defensive in tougher fights, but not shit. I felt bad that this thread fired everyone up so much. I dont like and dont want attention in general.

To Crate, keep up the good work and may you own Blizzard one day.

So, Moderators, ace this thread.

I feel ya. I “lost” like 5 builds this patch. With "lost"being a relative word, ofc. The game is painfully balanced now…

Yeah, that’s the spirit! Congrats on your Lokarr kill, may he drop all this sweet loot to you!
