Pickled Egg Recipe for Preservist

Eggs spoil quickly.
Being able to preserve them would help us stabilize our food supply.
Please.
Thank you.

I like your idea. Plant grapes > make wine > convert to vinegar > pickle eggs. Or add salt as a new mining resource and use with onions, spices, and water to have pickled onions as a luxury resource that goes really well with an ice cold beer to make residents happy versus unruly.

or just use malt vinegar from beer, since it’s already there?

Vineyards and wine would be an excellent addition to the game. :+1:

Agreed, eggs need a secondary use, boil eggs are pretty common food type.

Eggs are a primary food source, and do get a secondary use by the upgraded bakery for pastries, but not in great quantity if you’re maintaining a cap on production to limit spoilage of their short shelf-life items.

Pickling eggs would allow us to stabilize their shelf-life.

wait, are you saying they eat eggs??
All this time I limit the amount of chickens due to the 1k+ spoilage each time, I only saw where it was use in bakeries, I had no idea they use them otherwise

Fair. Though I was also thinking about white vinegar also being a disinfectant that could have a side effect of increased health. Malt vinegar would definitely be better for pickled onions.

Eggs are a primary food source, but they do spoil fairly quickly.

The upper left corner button will bring up the graphs, that will show you how many are consumed and how many are lost to spoilage.

I agree with this idea, but I think the item should just be “preserved eggs” to match the naming and production method of the other two preserved foods. Eggs don’t necessarily require pickling for storage in glass jars; they can be pressure canned under heat as well. That being said I also don’t think vinegar or any additional ingredients should be required.

Dev should add sour kraut (cabbage) in barrels first :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes!!

Salt and wine, now we are talking! Salt will probs also increase spoilage for a bunch of food types.

Too easy to implement devs are gonna get soft.

Salt is a good idea, but the only source for it, without ocean maps, would be Traders.

Another Spice sinkhole to avoid.

Incorrect; salt has been mined in land deposits since thousands of years ago; pre-historic European cities had a lot of organisation around mined salt.

Of course, you’re assuming this fantasy world has salt.

Considering the fact that this fantasy world has diseases, wildlife, trees, crops and even a calendar that are similar to our world, I cannot see how that would be too much of a stretch…

I honeymooned at Schloss Fuschl. :unamused:

I am now deeply embarrassed that I had forgotten about salt mines. :anguished:
