Please do something about Moosilauke

some skills are straight up distance triggered, so they might not even be activated in close range, like Zantarin’s shotgun, Maiden blitz, Loghorrean doom bolt
according to GT the waterwave is set to a medium distance, which means it shouldn’t usually get activated standing in direct melee/AA range
Which might then play in with your mention of not wanting to be close because dmg, so like Zantarin/Maiden, you trigger his highest dmg attack by actually moving away to safety

edit, Maverick pic for reference

Yeah I tried facetanking him, it sometimes works, sometimes I die. Depends on what mutators are around in where I encounter him, and whether he can quick-summon a crystal right behind me that freezes me solid… I do not think he does the wave and the meteors when you are in his face.
Still, the best method I found was to just kite him and let my minions take him out. Takes some time but can be done. He often got stuck in the Steps of Torment due to not fitting through doorways. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, thanks, that was exceedingly helpful. [/sarcasm]
I don’t care to play minmaxing and use only XY item because that is not yet nerfed, if that’s what you mean. I like to build a character around a set or certain skills, and modify it if it does not work. I have quite enough 100th level character I took to every level of the game, including most of the shards of the shattered realm, that I should think I know how to make a build, thank you very much.

He doesn’t. I prefer facetanking him (even with casters) but the stats must be there.

I can get his health down fast when facetanking, but if he freezes me I cannot heal back fast enough. So it is a gamble.
Times like this I wonder how some people can play with hardcore characters without getting heart attacks when they run into a Nemesis. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can only tell you to that - make your build better… More freeze res, DPS and RR will help. In your case also more OA and DA. Put more points to Ill Omen for damage reduction also… Also you need to use Deadly Momentum and you have too many points in Reaping Strike and Markovian Advantage. Use the other two WPS as well.

“Better” - umm, that’s great, without any specifics. That’s like telling the blind man to strain his eyes maybe he will be able to see.

Spectral Wrath hits an enemy every 2.5 seconds and lowers resistances a bit. But I have tons of devotion-triggered skills that already do that, like Will of Rattosh and other stuff. Spectral Wrath is very random, you cannot choose which enemy it will hit.
Ill Omen is useful to confuse large groups of enemies and debuff them a bit, but that’s about it.

You are on a vit melee build. You need them all at max values. There are also rings with vit RR. I would still go for flat RR from Revenant. Two wps you have will not apply it as good as those skellies will. I even have an elemental build where I have tried Revenant and Elemental Storm and Revenant was better… Even though it has lower RR…

Wrong. It lowers the damage you take in. Extremally useful.

against higher resist enemies, like Moosi, RR becomes increasingly more valuable/effective
you can check the difference here in terms of dmg added for 1-2+% against ex his 90? vit res vs your existing

you dont’ need to, it has AoE, and that aoe range increases with rank and CD reduces with rank too, Moosi/facetanking target will get affected

Damage Reduct is a very powerful stat, it’s like an extra free layer of resist/absorb/“maiven without arcanist”, and Omen’s DR goe high - most annoying part is recasting it every 5secs, but it’s worth it
on my Shieldbreaker i had DR on a shield skill, i used that skill throughout deliberately because of the DR, even if i could have slotted a dmg or other defensive/block/armour comp, because it was worth any other possible tradeoff as my setup did not get DR available elsewhere (not enough points for BWC)
Best part about omen is it auto spread so can potentially reach far and wide, even if not guaranteed the same cover as ex War Cry. But it means casters and archer trash in the back might also get affected and suddenly tickle a little less. And taking 500-1k random dmg less every couple of hits, can add up when fighting a big baddie dealing 5-8k dmg per hit, since you’re not bouncing as low where that 8 became lethal in the same second.

This is Death Knight, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.2) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator how I would improve your build for main campaign. But it is still not good enough for endgame. I would have to spend more time on that…

I want to see more threads about monsters being dangerous. Don’t do anything about Moosilauke.

It’s a nemesis for a reason, eh?

Plus the fact that almost no one has an issue with Moosi. OP admitted his build isn’t properly optimized/BIS (and that’s fine, play how you want to) but you can’t blame a Nem for that. And I mean; attacking Moosilauke with 12% freeze res is suicide.

Well I absolutely hate the room in SR with Manifestations of Hunger. Unbalanced compared to other rooms and so much more difficult… Significantly more difficult than badly rolled boss room… If I don’t make it within the timer this shard is responsible for it mostly… Quite frankly this shard needs to be more balanced… It sticks out like a sore thumb…

you don’t need bis to fight nems in campaign tho, the scaling is way different there you don’t even really need like a full endgame setup/budget kits can get you there, but it ofc has to account for whatever shortcomings that then comes with or what’s like… what’s the term, “minimum viable” or something
Skeleton Key Dungeons scaling/+mutators also wasn’t done so that you needed end kit to clear them, but use it to obtain it, just need to ofc keep in mind the bonus challenges/stat requirement than compared to Cronley and such

It’s even why i said it seemed a bit odd to get straight up nuked, because, no DR aside, it does seem like it should have the defences to atleast survive, assuming the leech/dmg etc is there/things are dealth with, and nothing got missed/mean trash enemy in the back or hero, or some jank/bug.
Moosi can definitely pack a punch, and easily clobber a 15k hp toon, but that thing has 44% phys res etc, overall it didn’t have peanuts defences even if 2500 DA might on appearance seem low

Would definitely like to see a video of it…

Uhm no it’s literally a free level kinda like maggots/ chthonic devourer/miss gazer man room.

They can deal some nasty damage tho, this is true. Make sure to only take dage from one at a time tho.

Maggot is a free level but this is the most dangerous map of them all.

Not in my experience. What SR evels are you talking?

About SR 90-95. Absolutely unbalanced map compared to others. Otherwise I am satisfied with higher SR balance. With this one exception.

Ah ok. Makes sense, I’m not sure how that level scales past lvl 80ish.
