Please, do something with phys reflect

I liked that setup from @mad_lee 's channel and wanted to play it, and since i’m somewhat new to GD, i was really not aware of phys builds problems. I’ve played couple of magic damage builds in endgame, and decided to try out phys build because why not, despite i’ve heard what phys damage is problematic

And it surely is, because what do you mean i literally can’t complete Port Valbury with that char (cos my internal trauma damage being reflected by some nonhero mobs), while being perfectly capable of doing 26-27SR pretty fast and stable?

When i started looking what i can do with that situation, i figured out what i need to take reflect resist specifically and that’s just nonsense, because on any other character i’ve literally never ever cared about that. On top of all, there’s very scarce sources of reflect resist, i really can’t comprehend, why is here no augments for that, and i need to get rid of one of very expensive to craft endame components just to take titan plating.

Good thing what i’ve not leveled on phys damage, because before lvl 75 sources of reflect resist are even more scarcer.

This mechanic doesn’t feel fair at all, it killes you almost instantly and really affects only phys builds, which are already need to deal with bypassing both armor and phys resists.

There for sure needs to be some more accessible reflect resist sources, either from endgame sets, or augments.

Phys builds need many more sources of reflect resistance. Devotions, sets, individual items. At the same time the whole reflect mechanic that’s only present in Main Campaign (otherwise a walk in a park for any complete build) feels super gimmicky: you can two shot bosses and Nemeses and be afk in a cluster of mobs but then some white aetherial mage can kill you in seconds if you don’t see that it has mirror on.

so phys builds have to use those super subpar augments/components just to feel on par with any other damage types against gimmicky Main Campaign reflectors? Got it :ok_hand:

yes, or take it in the available 5? devos (that all got skipped here)

so either take subpar augments or components OR spec into specific devotions just so I can farm Main Campaign with a Phys build? Got it :ok_hand:

i’m not saying it’s a great mechanic
but this build literally went out of its way to skip every single source of easily available reflect res
*reflect res devo sources that got increased a couple patches ago to make it even more available

So yea, we only have lvl50 augments to deal with reflect damage, which are gives little to no other stats to endgame chars, that’s cool!

And i’ve already writed about titan plating

I rather agree with the OP. There are a few reasons why I basically never play physical and this is certainly one of them. (There are others - it’s absolutely the least exciting, unsexiest damage type.)

It’s because it’s not specced to counter some backwards ancient gimmick mechanic in Main Campaign, that’s why.

What you are suggesting is to compromise the whole build just counter this one Main Campaign gimmick. A Physical build (so already behind almost every other damage type).

I think the “logic” of your suggestions actually supports op’s point really well. You played yourself, Gnomish!

The fact that SR and Crucible have the reflect removed should tell people something.

And it’s not just physical that struggles with reflect, Dots do as well (specially bleed).

Yes, there’s actually not a single reason to really play physical, because even if you wanna go for cunning stacking - you better go pierce

If you use Oleron’s Rage you need at least ~70% reflect resist (in campaign). Probably more, if you also are specced for huge DPS/crits.

On the other side, phys builds with Menhir’s Bulwark can get away with zero reflect res, sometimes.

Not only phys builds, you can definitely build something that will feel reflect.
Grenado with huge crits for example (only takes one bad grenade). Some of my older, squishier auto-attackers also ran into issues, idk if reflect has since been nerfed a bit, or my build just have more leech/absorb/HP.
Been a while since I one-tapped myself on reflect, but definitely seen some scary dips in HP.

hey, i play MC content, so i add reflect res and have 0 problems finding it in, you don’t/it’s removed in SR/Crucible as Norzan said because you guys didn’t like it
So either Z could remove it, or add it back to SR/Cruci but make it slightly easier to obtain :zantai:  LeMonkeyPaw

The thing is - i’m either specced into huge dps so i can do phys damage at all or i’m dying from MC shenanigans

point is that why Physical builds have to deal with this shit in the first place

because phys res got nerfed to be non existent now and trauma ignores armour

My main complain is mostly why I should care about that on phys build specifically. I would not complain if reflect resist was mandatory on all builds and types of damage, that would be, like, something like stun res or freeze res, no problems, but that mechanic really here only to make phys suffer, honestly

question was not “how did we come to this” but rather “what is the point of such an obvious imbalance”

Sure, it affects all damage types. Actually, I managed to reflect-nuke myself with cold only yesterday. But it’s a much more frequent problem for phys/trauma than anything else.
