Boars are the biggest offender. I even put towers in the middle or boar areas, but they won’t engage the boars unless the boar is attacking, so I basically have to lose a villager to get them to kill a boar. its a 1:1.
I have taken the army out and killed all visible boars, but unlike wolf dens, you can’t destroy the spawn points, so you get more each year.
Then there are the random bears, which are great to have in the game, but the villagers can’t protect themselves, and I can’t predict where they will be, so I can’t have the army there ready.
We need a “Patrol” function, where we can set a few Flag Waypoints for the army, and they walk between these points and eliminate thoughts within their LOS.
The bears are the real killer for me. I finally found a way to deal with boars, and that’s by stacking 2 hunter cabins right in the boar area. Hunters will also attack boars if the boar goes after a villager. It can still require some micro, since the hunters will retreat back to their dwelling as soon as a boar looks at them funny (unless you right-clicked the boar).
Patrols and waypoints for the army is a great idea, but I also like the idea of the ability to form hunting parties which could also perform the same. Perhaps give us the option 2-3 hunters per cabin, or make that a tier 2 hunter cabin option.
Here is a screen shot of an area waaaaaaaaaay out from camps… and I even have a tower just a screen over, and have brought the army out twice to clear the boar… yet they keep coming back… and its a bit of a bugger, and creates lot of dropped RES that no one picks up they just mine more.
