First, the reliance on wood is very restrictive. Either have trees grow faster (especially if planted) or give a larger amount of wood when harvesting a tree.
Second, the arborist is a nice idea, but the friut trees grow waaaay to slow. I know its realistic but for a game that a season goes by in 20 minutes the fruit trees need to grow much faster.
