Hello Crate,
I’ve been playing Grim Dawn on and off since early 2016 or so, and only decided to make an account to suggest a couple of quality of life things that I think would be nice to have.
- On the character select screen, having tabs on the character box to show either normal or hardcore characters would be nice. With lots of characters, separating the two types of characters into their own lists would be welcome.
- I mainly use controller/gamepad to play. In certain menus it’d be nice to have a bit more control without needing to use the cursor. For example, in the stash menu, being able to toggle between shared and local stash at the press of a button would help a lot. And also being able to cycle between the stash tabs with buttons. Using the cursor is fine in some menus, like the devotion skill tree, but other menus it becomes troublesome with quick, repeated uses.
- Disable auto-target enemy for controller/gamepad. This is most noticeable when using ranged attacks/weapons. The game will suddenly decide to target something I didn’t intend. For controller gameplay, it would be amazing if attacks were directed in the direction of the analog input. I press up, the attack should go up, etc. This can be really frustrating when fighting hoards of enemies and you are trying to focus the boss, and a lot of attacks get diverted to some unintended mob.
- World map personal rift. Having a dedicated button to select your personal rift would be nice. It’s especially difficult with controller/gamepad to select that tiny red rift icon with precision. It makes the muscles tense up, haha.
- Sell all button at shop vendors. A sell all button would save a lot of time between adventuring and unloading the inventory. Keep it simple and just sell everything.
- In addition to number 5, have an inventory bag that we can “lock” to prevent items inside it from being sold. That way we can keep TNT and other useful things like potions in our inventory, as long as we keep it in this locked bag.
- A way to refund 1 or 2 attribute points without having to reset them all. When fine-tuning the points, sometimes later on I realize I allocated wrong by a few points. Having to click 100+ times to reassign the points could be avoided.
- A way to re-roll specific traits of an item. Prefix, suffix, individual stats, etc. Have an NPC that uses magic and a valuable resource to give us a chance to make certain stats better. Not all of them at once, though. One at a time so we can achieve our perfect item over time, if we put the effort in. For me, this would really add the end game experience. Instead of farming the same boss over and over to only be met with an inferior version of an item is disheartening.
Well, that’s all from me. I understand if these suggestions are too unreasonable, but I feel they would improve the game immensely. Thank you for the best ARPG ever made, Crate! I look forward to what you do in the future!
