This +35 damage to chthonics…what damage type is it?

i was wondering about that too, because the same description confusion happens in titan quest too. skills like spirit bane, which gives +# damage to undead, but spirit bane’s racial damage bonus also gives bonus damage against undead to damage skill like life leech (which is a weapon-damage-less spell). this is confusing because players are not told what type of damage it is. is it physical damage (if so, is it improved by cunning & +%phys damage?). does the racial damage bonus apply to auto attack/weapon based damage only?
