Thanks guys, that was very useful. I forgot to use potions. I used them at one point like a madwoman- against another Mad Woman aka Queen
But that was when I kept dying to her or not dying at all, but also getting bore for not killing her at all. It is always handy for Alkamos no to get frozen, so I drink that then, but I stupidly forgot all about potions for crucible. Will use them next time.
Per veretragna, Iām pretty sure Hand of Ultos deals way more damage than Tempest. The cooldown is shorter, the damage is higher, the max targets is higher, and the %WD is amazing. As long as you use it with an AOE skill and have enough OA to crit somewhat consistently (>3K) itās absolutely a superior choice.
The DA loss from not taking Wolverine is so tiny itās almost insignificant. (4384 -> 4285, a 2.28% decrease to overall DA). Also, you can take viper and Ultos, it just means youāre taking viper for +3% OA, affinity, and energy recovery rather than the RR.
Hereās how Tempest vs Hand of Ultos stacks up:
Hand of Ultos (100% Chance on Critical Attack)
The Storm Shepherdās fury emits from your fingertips, cascading through entire armies with devastating electrical force.
Current Level : 15
1.5 Second Skill Recharge
Affects up to 10 targets
24% Weapon Damage
222-434 Lightning Damage
696 Electrocute Damage over 2 Seconds
Stun target for 0.4 Seconds
25% Reduced targetās Elemental Resistances for 3 Seconds
Reckless Tempest (100% Chance on Critical Attack)
Static energy swells within you, unleashed upon nearby foes in the form of destructive bolts of lightning.
Current Level : 20
10 Second Skill Recharge
6 Second Duration
8 Meter Target Area
3 Target Maximum
65-267 Lightning Damage
408 Electrocute Damage over 2 Seconds
20% Chance to Stun target for 0.7 Seconds
Hand of Ultos deals considerably more damage than Reckless Tempest and affects more targets. When bound to Storm Totem with your build using up to 5 storm totems at the same time you should be triggering it off CD, which comes out to triggering it 6.6 times every 10 seconds, which is more than the number of ticks Reckless Tempest has (6 ticks per 10 seconds, if triggered off CD).
This loadout keeps Hourglass for the slow resistance but swaps Wolverine/Tempest for Ultos/Scholarās/Quill. All stats are comparable or better with this change.
EDIT: With a few more tweaks we can get +241 OA at the cost of another 70DA, 40% lightning damage, and +4% maximum vitality resistance. I also tossed in Storm Box for the DA shred, though itās less necessary with the OA boost. This seems much more optimized to me and I imagine it will have considerably faster clear time. Will test.
Iām intrigued!
Swap Wolverine/Tempest for Ultos/Scholarās/Quill, huh?
I will do it!!
Will write about the results tomorrow.
Storm Totem is pseudo-pet and its Weapon Damage is zero => Hand of Ultos %WD component of damage is zero.
And much more - even if its Weapon damage was non-zero, it still canāt heal the caster with ADCtH, you lose 240% WD replenishment completely. So if you rely on ADCtH, it is better to bind it to pure player skills, like mentioned Mark of Corruption, Elgoloth or even Savagery.
Wind Devil is also pseudo-pet.
Gosh, and I didnāt know! Thanks a ton, Iā'll rebind the skills today if did sth like that⦠Iām not sure cause I tried a few devotion setups already and each time I just pick whatever whenever
Iāll have to be more careful about that then.
Awesome compilation of builds! It has been very helpful to me in the last few weeks.
Cheers for keeping it updated!
Really? I did not know it worked that way. Are you sure about this? If so, TIL.
I can confirm it too. Basically, you donāt wanna bind devotions with significant weapon damage components to pseudopets. Not only will it do waaay less damage, it will also not heal any lifesteal to you.
So I tried my dw vindicator with Hand of Ultos instead of Tempest. It really performs better!
Thanks for pointing that out, guys! Added new version.
Youāre welcome!
Mate, your recently added mage hunter does exactly the same. Rune of Hagarrad is a pseudo-pet. Just focusing your attention
@Zhuugus Might want to check out my Rune of Hagarrad infiltrator, very tanky and clears 150-170 in 11-12 minutes, video included in thread:
http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71965
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/D2pnLRKZ
Hey, thatās a very good concept! I was going to try something frostburn, didnāt know RoH does so much damage.
I also find your playstyle pretty reckless, for example in your video your should have died at 10:38 on wave 170. If I was playing like this I would definitely finish faster with most builds but the success rate would drop.
So you did only one run? Iām asking because I have no doubts in potential of your build, but I have doubts about consistency.
Well, actually I still like it and will check it anyway
Not really sure where to ask this, but any suggestions for non-MI rings and medals (while I try to find some)?
What MI rings are you talking about?
In terms of offense you donāt need any MI rings.
Are you seeking more DA? You already have a lot. Also a patch must be coming very soon that will change how DA works.
As I understood devās intentions they are going to make it so that stacking DA above 4000 will be totally useless.
Correct me someone if Iām mistaken.
So Iām an idiot who didnāt realize there was an item db even though itās on the same site as the skill calc  I was looking for legendary rings/medals. Thanks all the same.
Yea I think thatās one of two times I used blade barrier that run, but I think youāll find itās tankier than appears. Iāve also go PB running on a 5 sec auto cast macro for quality of life so I donāt have to spam it. I wonāt say I never die, but Iāve done a bunch of runs now and had about 75% success. I also wouldnāt stand there and tank kuba as long if another nemesis was running up on me, but I knew I could down him quick enough before anything else showed up thatās why I stayed in. I probably should have just hit bloodthirster and it would have kept me fairly full too. I could have even BB earlier and the frostburn would have finished him off. Frostburn ticks are definitely high enough to kite around some if you feel safer that way.
Try some runs yourself though, Iād be interested to hear your success rate and know your thoughts. I do play aggressive though, I tend to jump to the closest nemesis or whichever one I know will run up on me the fastest and burst it down as quick as I can. I think the more spread out maps, like deeps, grove, legion are better for the way I play this build.
Edit: Changed my medal for mark of divinity, very slight damage loss, but the circuit breaker really helps those couple of times Iām not quick enough to save myself, also switched a ring for some more HP. Over 90% success now, though still can die on occasion if I play fast and reckless. If I kited more I donāt really see going down at all, but that style doesnāt suit me, Iād rather fast runs with a chance of death
Just added a video on my build thread doing 150-170 twice on the same set of 3 buffs:
Hi,
which of those builds would you recommend for a somewhat lazy ājust relax with a controller in handsā approach?
Forcewave, probably - something like this:
www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64706
I liked your build very much, couldnāt even think that RoH is a nuclear bomb
11min runs.
Itās a bit harder to survive than with my dw cold infilthator because far less weapon damage and thus far less lifesteal, but yours is immensely easier to assemble, almost all pieces are just legendaries.
Iām thinking if I should add it now I maybe wait for the patch which is very likely to hit next week.
Hi!
I agree with MortalKombat, best start is physical forcewave soldier which he linked.
You can go for witchblade as he did, go for tactician version which is more suited for tanking (and in late game youāll have options to switch into fire or elemental forcewave that do more damage).
Also you can do it as a Death Knight, then youāll have an option to get Krieg Set (very easy to farm since every piece drops from exact boss) and go for s&b aether krieg build which is pretty versatile and strong.
So check out MortalKombatās thread and builds 3 and 5 in ātanksā section.
Thanks guys, I think iāll try the Forcewave Tactician. It seems to use only a few skills. My hands will love it.
