As a shaman and health regen enjoyer, I can’t believe I waited this long to give the Veilkeeper set a try. That probably has something to do with never really liking auto-attack builds… Nevertheless, this is a fun build honestly.
Gameplay is very simple: Movement rune to close gaps, cast Aether corruption wherever, go to town with Savagery. Apply Mark of torment as needed against big targets. That’s it.
I wish the set wasn’t a heavy armor one, so I could dedicate more stat points to Spirit, as I had to sink a sizeable amount into cunning to get my OA as high as needed (Considering that Upheaval is the main event, it needs to proc often enough.)
Tested first with a druid, and while damage and OA were MUCH higher, health was too low for a health regen build, and I was getting one-shot too often (gotta give regen time to do its thing). The extra AA procs from Necromancer help bridge the damage gap considerably, but my OA as a druid was around 4K, so Upheaval was proccing VERY often.
For looks, I wanted to try something different. I went with as much asymmetry as I could, using both shoulder and gloves, and an armor that also felt like it was arranged organically. Given the mass of the weapon, it feels like the character has a VERY dominant hand, and to me it looks good when using a 2-handed weapon. Wrathmourne looked a lot more reasonable than the Arcblade, but still gave off the heavenly/otherworldly vibes I wanted. The helmet is there because it looks great, but also because its color perfectly matches the scarf from the shoulder pads.
