That’s really deep.

This “please-all” attitude is what killed Diablo 3 for me. Making it cartoonish to appeal the masses. Meh. A diabolical cartoon indeed.

I just hope Grim Dawn walks a different path … a darker and grittier one.

D3 will be a product that appeals to the masses, yes. But with their track record and the ridiculous amounts of cash they’ll throw at it, I have no doubt it’s going to be good.

The name sounds right for that. Grim

Sadly, if Grim Dawn tries to apply to too much of a niche market…

With Diablo III they are going on a name that makes money (proven) and catering to a wide variety of fans; possibly wider than with previous games.

So while it had killed it for you, they will undoubtedly be able to pander to a wider fan base and still be successful.

Cheers,

Malph

Stalker with its post-apocalyptic world raked in serious money (over 1.5 milion copies sold) without sacrificing the story and atmosphere. No bright colors included.

I trust Crate to deliver a world in line with the story they’ve shown us so far ;). And I’m VERY pleased with what I’ve seen so far. So keep up the good work guys!

I like the screenshots, they are magnificent. The second last one on the bottom is my favourite because of the lightning aura looks menacing. I would be interested in some kind of Mediterranean places. I loved the ancient greek in TQ.

Don’t worry, we’re not planning on any drastic changes. The vast majority of the feedback so far has been positive and we have no intention of suddenly going all bright and cheery on you. This is a grim and haunted world and the visuals should reflect that. However, we do agree with comments that the screenshots are a little muddy and brown. We don’t think the colors need to be bright and saturated but we do think a little more variation would be good. The addition of the new art assets to the scenes will help a bit with that along with some minor tweaks.

Incidentally, some of our inspiration for the world actually came from STALKER.

That’s a good thing.

The thing I liked about TQ were the persistent bodies littering the ground.
Of course they don’t have to stay there the entire game session (wasted resources), just until you pass the area.
Blood on the ground could go away faster… or slower. Could be cool to have no bodies but still have blood… makes you wonder what dragged away the corpses.

It would be nice if the character gets dirty or bloody. You could use water sources to quickly wash if you wanted (water could have other uses, cleaning being a side feature). I haven’t played Dragon Age yet, so I don’t know how the blood is cleaned off.

One of my favourite effects in game is luminescence. This mostly for ambience; I like the shadowy ethereal greens and blue lights etc. Lighting has always been one of the things that catch my eye in a well done scenario first.

I think in DA:O it’s the same blood texture over and over again. I’m not sure if and how it comes off. Perhaps resting at the campsite…

Blood would be a nice addition, makes the game appear more gory. And it’d be cool if you could wash it off near a well or something (and/or sleeping at an inn), I don’t value it that high though.

Agreed in all gore theme  You know me.

Impressive! I think my feelings are summed up using the most common words posted throughout these forums: I can’t wait!

Prosoro

Screenshots look great. I think the perfect formula would be Diablo I and II formula. After all Diablo sold more than 20 million copies without sacrificing the gore and atmosphere.

Grim Dawn just needs more vibrant colors and light radius (at night and in dungeons ofc) that’s close to light radius in Diablo I and II without sacrificing the photorealistic look. That’s the perfect formula. We don’t know anyhing about combat system or gameplay yet but they have to feel satisfying. Visceral. You should feel like you really hit the monster after clicking a left button. That was the missing thing in Titan Quest.

In the end these screenshots made me really excited. This is close to what i have been waiting since 10 years from a game. Keep up the great work guys.

I think Crate should release some art work, not necessarily too frequent, to keep the buzz alive. Not like a full bio of character, classes or monster but just a piece of artwork. Or photos of you guys! We really want to know about you guys so how about post a picture of your studios? There are even some of us really interested in working with you guy after them graduate

Anyway, I really understand that the dev is already got their hands full with the development process.

awesomeeeeeeeee idea yea i really wonder how medierra looks like…hmmm…tries to think

There is at least one TQ development diary video floating around out there that has Medierra in it. =)

Found it
Lead system designer Arthur Bruno, right?

We have a winner!
