An additional filter for dead trees under Harvest to enable to ability to select an area of dead trees only.
There are dead trees? I am not sure I have seen them yet, just the ones that lose their leaves and are dormant in the winter, but they arenāt dead.
The mountains or arid maps have lots of dead trees. Currently I just do my best to mass select them for harvesting.
Ahh ok, didnāt notice on my mountain map, but just started that one, havenāt tried arid yet though.
I think they happen over time, but less frequently on the āeasierā maps. The Arid map starts with a bunch of them. They remain leafless in Spring and Summer, looking pretty much how they would in Winter among the other greenery.
Yeah, if Iām harvesting trees in that area I purposefully select any dead trees en masse in order to clear them out sooner rather than later.
Not a bad idea! Yes, this is part of our DIY forestry for this game. Clearing out the underbrush and dead wood, harvesting just the really old trees, and so forth. Iāve seen suggestions for a Forester profession, and given the importance of wood, here, yes, that would make senseā¦rather than having the āmayorā do the forestry.
Outstanding suggestion!
Great suggestion, I always manually select them but this would save a lot of time.
Harvesting dead trees seems to have a beneficial effect on the rest of the forest.
I noticed that it seems to become greener with the dead wood cleared out.
But Iāve also noticed that trees donāt age-out and die fast enough for dead wood to be the single source of material for wood needs (on Idyllic Valley maps, not sure about the others).
Iāve cleared whole areas of the dead trees and seen very little replace it.
It was tedious and time-consuming Stabbing at them and picking them out of thick forests.
Then I discovered Bagging.
Hit the āHā button for Harvest of materials.
Unclick everything on the toolbar popup except Trees.
It will highlight everything on the map youāve already got targeted for harvest and give your cursor the drag/drop ability.
Then go around āBaggingā (drag a box around) the small root-ball area at the base of the dead trees you want harvested, instead of trying to Stab at them and clicking on them.
Itās infinitely much quicker far more accurate at excluding the live trees than it seems it would be.
Kinda fun too.
One pause annually, a few seconds of āSearch and Bagā, and the dead wood is done for the year.
