Single target prefix for AAR with added damage

Another AAR sucks thread

Nobody here said it sucked.

I just read betwen the lines.

Doesn’t seem you read correctly, though.

Please stay on topic.

The identity, or lack thereof, of a forum individual has virtually nothing to do with the discussion.

With a “regular type” of player like me, AAR is now nowhere “weak” or “overpowered”. Its just fine. I know that in some era long ago AAR was too weak (before pierce through) and change to OP (with 5-6 types of AAR can clear Crucible below 5 mins or something like that). But at this moment, after too many patches nerf and nerf, they are nothing special really. I dont feel any gap between AAR builds (i played aether/ fire/ lightning/ chaos aar in 1.1.9) vs other builds, and none of them were top tier (cuz i only play my builds, not gonna copy other players’). But pls, dont nerf it anymore.

Aether version performs in line with other strong skills: high SR, main Celestials boxes checked and pushing closer to 4 mins Crucible in max dmg, max gear variant. Fire, lightning and chaos should also be fine, cold is weaker and can use a gear buff.

That’s good to know, though the topic was if AAR needed/could use a single target mod^^

Your grimtools is a point over on Disintegration.

The game as a whole is largely AoE focused, strong single targets like Celestials play secondary role in it. Therefore the amount of very strong single target skills is very limited. Usually it’s a melee skill with WPS focus in which case the build sacrifices a lot to achieve this single target dps. And you can actually do it with Arcanist as well - cold DW Spellbreaker with Beronath’s Fury has pretty high dps.

Among all standalone skills AAR is one of the strongest single target damage dealers. And your AAR mod suggestion is quite obviously not feasible.

I’ve known it for a while and i always forget to remove it

To me, it isn’t obvious.

Well, everything was said above. AAR is one of the greatest AoE and single-target damage ability, with it you can do all game content. Until it becomes equal to DEE in terms of damage output, I consider AAR too OP .

Would be clunky to use, in my opinion. Lesser range, bigger damage - could work .

I don’t get how a build that lets you facetank Ravager and kill him in less than five minutes needs any help.

Maybe it needs to kill him in less than, say 1 min?

FIFY

Unless you’re one of those weird people who cares about clear times in SR

Because it still needs twice or even thrice (…4x,5x) as long as many other builds.
I don’t claim I want AAR as a whole reworked, buffed… But its absolute maximum single target damage is rather restricted when compared to others, which is why I stated my idea here.

Kinda have to agree on this as well. Not arguing against AAR changes but moreso making a point that I’d rather see more attention go to builds and concepts that struggle to even do basic endgame stuff like DW Lightning melee or some of the remaining Conduits with little-to-no item support.

Many other builds = pets and rata you mean

Belgothian? DW Spellbinder? DW Chaos?

Didn’t phys AAR do a lot better with Ravager? Cause we all have to account that Aether as a whole got worse in response to mainly Spellbinder being OP amongst other things. Spear, Dying God, Revenant, Seal of Corruption, I think Widow got nerfed too, Fabric of Reality, Elemental Balance. All those add up and you can’t just buff them back for AAR because there are other builds. And even an AAR buff in general will help Aether AAR just as much as phys AAR with two exceptions: Offhand mods and Clairvoyant.

We just have to accept that casters are generally the worst single target builds. And it’s fine, since melee struggles against many aoe too.
