So im checking out the new component stash tabs

…and im thinking ‘crikey, they packed a lot into that first one’. the second tab i thought looked a bit sparse though. there seems to be more of these larger crafting components (well at least 1) coming in FoA so i MSPainted the **** out of a fuller second tab, leaving space for them (or just it) and also includes the buff pots & elixirs etc too which utilises that empty space at the bottom.

i feel like it optimizes the stash a little more. just thoughts though.

As far as I know, unless I don’t remember right, pots and elixirs will not exist anymore in the FOA expansion and will be replaced by effect we will be able to apply on the health and the energy potion

OHHHH. I didn’t know that, but I was wondering how the two systems would work together.

didn’t realise the potion crafting would get rid of the elixirs etc. hmm, well maybe that space could be utilised for Shattered Realm Waystone storage instead? would be a shame to not use the space.

there’s still stuff that could go in there, smaller mandates, stackable merrits.

didn’t misadventure say we would be using old potions to cauldron brew the new hp/energy pot effects?

A related suggestion: Group components by theme. Top left dynamite and keys (consumable in overworld), top right the Ch’thonian stuff, row 2 left Aether Crystal, Aether Shard, Tainted Brain Matter, right is Royal Jelly, Ancient Heart, Manticore Eye.

This groups overworld consumable, Ch’thonian, aetherial and beast components.

Unrelated: Why is Chthonic Seal missing an apostrophe?

I would assume there will be more effects to apply on health/energy potion than the current effects for the elexir/pots

you’re not applying the current effects to hp/mana pots, you’re mixing them to create new ones Grim Misadventure #188 - A Look Back at 2024...'s Work on New Potions!

I saw it and forgot how it would work, thanks

So that’s more effects which is great

Misadventure seems to make it sound like the two systems are totally separate. The 20 aspects you can mix and match seem to be their own items you find, not crafted with potions. Definitely doesn’t sound like potion brewing will replace consumables.

i’m not 100% sure but i think Z said somewhere that’s what it was meant for, they weren’t happy with how current potions were boringly used, so wanted to add additional utility to them (whether or not that meant “using as ingredient” or adding new “potion” types i don’t know)
*aside from potential misunderstanding, could also just be that idea changed in the last 3 years to have them be separate crafts

I hope the developers will add a new NPC alchemist, because it would be quite strange to brew potions with a blacksmith.

Yeah, I feel the same about the current consumable system. To me, most of them feel weak, boring, unimpactful. I hope they find a place for them in the expansion. I like what they’re trying to do with the new potion system, I just hope consumables aren’t left to just awkwardly “exist”.

The link to the old Misadventure does say it’s a new NPC with a cauldron.
