Sorry, that must have been me. I ate a good amount of red meat yesterday.
oh that was the smell I smelt when I first came in this morning, I had to open all the windows to let that out, :D:D
but I smell another smell, its the smell of success, the smell of the alpha which is sweet, but really looking forward to it, really looking forward to this game now
I agree man. It’s been many years since I’ve been this hyped for a game.
It probably has something to do with this intense experience of waiting. (much respect for those who’ve been waiting since 2010)
Up till now Crate has said and shown all the right things to push my buttons. If they’re really able to pull off everything they said, I’m convinced GD will make a name for itself like Diablo did back in the day. (a modern day Diablo so to speak)
But hype is a dangerous thing. We need to have realistic hopes and never forget Crate has to make their dream come true with a limited budget.
But i’m absolutely sure Crate has the right talented people and right ideas to make this game the best (arpg) gaming experience in years.
Does anybody know a rough estimate of the actual budget GD is financed with? I know how much the KS made, but with the pre-orders following after it …
not sure on the budget, there was a quote given before the KS was even done, but I can’t remember the figure given, still, I think the pre orders havwe been pretty high and exceeded what crate had hope for, of course having many full time devs plus recently a full time animator joining the team would cost a lot
but I’m sure the money is been well spent, so I’m not concerned, yes we need realistic expectorations, that I do agree with, Crate are a small team with a small budget, but the greatest strength is that they already have an amazing engine to work with, the TQ engine has proven that, as the recent screenshots don’t really resemble TQ at all, as GD looks totally different and a lot better
without this awesome engine, there wouldn’t be GD, or it will be on a lesser engine and probably a lot more limited, and the game would take a LOT longer to come out, so having this engine really has helped in many ways
As long as Crate doesn’t feel restraint by the budget, I’m fine with it. I really want them to create the game like they want to.
No limitations by publishers, no limitations by funds.
A dream brought into reality without concessions.
Nice nice nice nice
I think the “no NDA” for alpha brings a lot of confidence from the devs for the game. And thats a good thing. I have no doubt that we will play this game for years. As i am sure that the alpha -> beta time will make an ever better game!
I can understand the need for a NDA sometimes, but I thiink it can be also used in a wrong way, especially if the game turns out to be pretty bad, and publishers don’t want the revealed until the game is out, of course the NDA could also be used to keep the game plot hidden. so there are some good reasons for them, but I’m not really a big fan of them myself, look at how forth coming OE is with PE, we are seeing a lot of development, and recently a environment video, so the game is clearly coming along nicely, they have nothing to hide, and been really open, of course the game is KS backed, but still, its stuff that we wouldn’t normally see from a game this early, same with Wasteland 2, and that early gameplay video, of an actual level, not just some randomly thrown together level to please publishers,
but if you take a look at the recent aliens game, and a few others, the publisher and developers wanted to keep silent on on bad the game was, and even stopped reviewers from reviewing the game early, so in that case, the NDA is a bad thing
in the case of GD, its a risk, but I think it will pay off, yes there will be those that may judge the game purely on its alpha quality,. without realising it, but its one of the reasons why there are differently priced tiers, to try and discourage this type of thing, and only want those that are seriously about helping to make the game better, and there are probably a few other reasons too, but then again, it gives backers a chance to see the game for themselves, especially those that have backed the game early, it will allow people that might be interested in the game but not backed to take a look at the screenshots and videos of the game, as videos will be allowed. and will add to the game’s publicity
but its still a two sided coin, it will help GD and Crate in some ways and it may cause some issues as some might criticise the game and say its crap because its limited or its short or it has a small level cap, but again, there will always be those that do that, but for those that are serious in helping GD and Crate, and to get good publicity for the game, I think its a good thing, and it also shows that Crate were honest and nothing to hide
Why must you tease me so with those screenshots…
Game looks amazing!
To fuck is super. Give me a beer
I totally agree with you, but…
I don’t know if english is your primary language, but you just cannot say “to fuck is super” on a public forum. It means literally “sex is good” but with coarser words.
I’m gonna send you an E-beer then.
maybe he means its the dogs bollocks (with is slang for its the best) or they are good
You can’t knock genuine anticipation lol
I noticed in all the new screenshots, that somehow the hero gets “lost” in the environment and the mobs. What im saying is that it feels hard to see your hero. Is it just me?
I think that’s the whole point-style of the game is to make the environment, your toon, and mobs have this “gritty” look and feel to them. Unless you are talking about the particle effects from spells and such? Which I think it fits perfectly.
teh f*ck? Think you had too many already.
D3’s hero & targetted mob highlighting (red rim) wasn’t a bad thing imo to prevent this.
With a video game it is hard to judge things from a static screen shot. I would be willing to agree that the hero (who is always at the center of the screen) is not the first thing that jumps out at me in some of these shots because the monsters are so cool looking. But I bet when the game is in motion it will be easy to tell the hero apart from all the other stuff on screen.
Holy Crow, those screenshots are awesome! Makes my fingers itch to play it already!
I’m really happy that we finally get to see the female character. She looks great. Love the fact that she doesn’t come from the skanky end of the armor pool! But from her (fantastic)face and body, you can still tell that that’s a woman…a kick-ass woman!
Oh and I like the blood stains on the end caps of the HUD, maybe now we won’t have to hear complaints about it being too clean and shiny for GD.
I Love the work and the passion that has been going on.
My own little tiny opinion, if you wish. Please, please do your best to have a similar vigor on areas outside the starting zones/areas. Having very memorable/engaging parts outside the normal “just starting” timeframe may lead to better involvement.
I am grateful for the updates. Very much looking forward to the testing/release.
