SPOILER ALERT: Lore Discussion

Speaking of Allostria, i find it strange that her 2nd form, looked like a undead wraith. Even a bit transparent.

They just didn’t bother to make a custom model is all #LazyDevs

Actually, it has a custom human skull, instead of the wraith wendigo skull.

So is this how Etherials look like in real (when not possessing humans)?

Not exactly. A reflection of itself following possessing a human.

That’s interesting. I had thought that they looked like those wisps that often spawn when you kill Aetherial enemies.

I can understand lower level aetherials not being strong enough to remain on our plane when the host perishes. It also makes sense why spirits of both the Mindthief and Shaper of Flesh linger even after we destroy their hosts since they’re a lot stronger than the aetherials we’ve faced so far

But I don’t understand why don’t Archivist Thelon (apparently someone high in command chain) and Overlord Van Aldritch exhibit this behavior?

Aren’t they both superiors to Marcell?

If we’re talking hierarchy…
The Circle of Five >> The Shaper of Flesh >= the Mindthief > Archivist Thelon >= Overlord Van Aldritch

Van Aldritch expressed his disagreement over the decision to reassign the Shaper of Flesh, but ultimately his voice is a small vote in that concensus. It was his desire to influence his superiors in order to amend what he considered a mistake, which they ultimately agreed with.
Was the Mindthief always that important? Something that has bothered me for a while is that, while occupying you (the player), someone that important was sent to attack the seemingly insignificant outpost of Devil’s Crossing, populated by nobody important. Would someone high up in the chain of command have been tasked with this? I don’t get it. Before Ashes of Malmouth, I had pictured the Aetherial that possessed you as some insignificant member of the collective, like a common trash enemy.

Incorrect imo

DC is actually very important as you’d notice both Chthonians and Aetherials try to attack it. The structure are decent enough to serve as a base of operations
Also, it is essentially what connects three main parts of the Cairn - two of the sides are explorable atm and the final one is Old Grove (will never be explorable).
Since it’s such an important area I think they intended to put Allostria in-charge of it

What makes you think the Aetherials didn’t see the advantages of taking DC a while back? It’s basically a fortress, in what seems to be a fairly important location (the pinch-point between the West, dominated by Homestead and Fort Ikon, and the East with Burrwitch and Malmouth). Cronley explains this when you confront him, I believe, and it makes some sense. EDIT: ninja’d again

Btw with AoM out I think both Lucius and Krieg were in contact with Marcell (talking about those notes)

Who was it who was telling Krieg to knock it off with the pointless douchebaggery? I forget. EDIT: Note doesn’t say, except “far to the North” could be Theodin in Malmouth.

I always thought the Aetherial Wisps and Wraiths, aka the glowing aether balls that Terraformers and Scarecrows sometimes spawn upon death, are the true forms of Aetherials.
Also, one thing I always wondered about… we have separate monster types for Aetherials and Aether Corruptions. I always assumed the Corruptions do not really have an Aetherial possessing and controlling them, they are just given life by the Aether (see Gerthard and Zanbrandt’s notes). The true controlling Aetherials would be those possessing human bodies or Reanimators/Fleshweavers.

Yes, it is the same model as the wraith summoned by the Reap Spirit skill - I noticed that one has a human skull too.

Guys, why the hell does someone like Fabius work for the worthless piece of shit that is Cronley? If I was him I would just team up with a certain human nemesis and save the world you know? Could be the best couple ever, oh and she is called Iron Woman now.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

You could also ask why Trypticon, who is the size of a city and has weapons to level one, work for Megatron, as well. Simply put, some people are great at what they do - be it war, destruction, assassination - but have no great ambitions and prefer to leave the stressful work of leading an army and politics to those more qualified.

Here you go guys

Damn Ulgrim is such a badass isnt he. Rekt Fabius, sleeping with Grand Inquisitor’ wife, defeating a giant vagina.

Yeah, he and Moosilauke got a bio, sadly the others did not.
I have still yet to meet Fabius, I wish reputation building could be done easier than grinding through 4 hills over and over…

I wish the other Nemeses would get a bio as well because enemy bios are some of my favorite parts about the lore.

Maybe lore notes placed on the world detailing their lives. Don’t know how Kubacabra would get one, unless there’s a Groble that can write or something.
