SPOILER ALERT: Lore Discussion

Waited too long for this

Didn’t know that there are trolls living in the void too

I made a new char. to repeat the story since the announcment of GDx2 and now I can’t help but think that Balvoruuk the necromancer in Old Arkovia is actualy Uroboruuk in discuise and that the ghost Kalderos might be king Rhowan ressurected, especialy because the name of the quest is named Old Scars and the only one that has been tortured extensievly and survived is Uroboruuk, also he is the only necro from the Order Deaths Vigil that has a ghost willingly serving him, all others have skelletons and when you talk to him- if you choose to tell him that you will attack he responds in a manner that “he will be a difficult challenge to face but has no quarrel with us” and his response to “Why does he want to purge the oligarchs?” his response is because it has to be done…IMO the only one that has smth. against the Arkovians and would go after them alone is Uroboruuk.Thoughts?

Uroboruuk cursed an entire civilization to undeath and moved on. I highly doubt he is standing idle with a ghost at SoT entrance to kill some ghosts (which kinda defeats the purpose of his punishment of eternal suffering on them). He is a faithful of the order who wants to exact vengeance on the ones who were responsible for uroboruuk’s torture. And a way to gradually introduce you to an important character and lore.

Just a little thing I forgot about

Dude, that meme went out of fashion a decade ago. When MAD TV did a joke about it 6 years ago it was dated.

Does anyone else think that the Deathstalker is basically The Primal Spirit that has gotten corrupted?

I based it off the skill’s description

Legends speak of a great predator, the loyal pet of Mogdrogen, which relentlessly hunts down anyone that treads into the beast god’s domain uninvited. As a favored follower of Mogdrogen, you call upon this Primal Spirit to aid you in battle.

Even the damage types are the same.

Wel not really reading from the Deathstalker description.

Call forth Deathstalker, a fearsome embodiment of Mogdrogen’s fury that shreds the Physical, Poison and Bleed Resistance of nearby enemies.

Looking at the Deathstalker’s abilities, he/she would be a great companion for my Poison/Bleed focused Blademaster.

Oh yeah, I missed that.
Dang it

Two things…

Has anyone fought Ugdall, the Wraith of Ugdenbog? I never chose to since it seems only fair to release him after centuries of torment for something his leaders were responsible for. I assume he turns into a boss monster?

Second, apparently if you are a Shaman, you can get some different dialogue from Markon, the Ravager-obsessed guy in Barrowholm.

The same happens if you talk to Arina, the weird girl who asks whether you talk to spirits. Also, she indicates she heard of you before you even arrived - possible that Ravager noticed you since you are a shaman…

EDIT: LOL, I think this is new too. You can confront Aurin after you find her “recipe” which is quite obviously for human flesh (though I guess in Cairn, there are animals that have upper arms…) - she replies cryptically by saying she would love to “serve you” sometime.

Yeah he does. Killing him I think results in getting a Wendigo Spirit from completing the quest (in contrast to how you get an Aetherial Missive if you choose to save him).

Second, apparently if you are a Shaman, you can get some different dialogue from Markon, the Ravager-obsessed guy in Barrowholm.

It’s not just him either, you can even thank Ravager for blessing you with the power to drink people alive when he revives.

The class-specific dialogues/choices are a really nice touch and I hope more get added in Forgotten Gods.

Neat! I have yet to talk to him, as my level 89 Conjurer was already at that level when the expansion came out - so now I am doing all the expansion quests on all difficulties with him, as tedious as that is.

There is something bothering me for quite some time with the release of the expansion. It’s about Daila and Dravis.

In a conservation with her, she mentioned that the story in her dairy about the weeping willow really happened, but she did not give the ending. It was a drawn out battle for their very lives.

That makes me wonder why would a brother and a sister fights like that. And than he wants her to join him in going after their father.

Stormheart is first found in the Tomb of Korvaak where Daila mentioned in her dairy that she found it there. So either lying and got it from her father or she did found it. In both cases she probably put it back there. And i’m thinking there is a connection between Uroboruuk and Korvaak, so coincidence that the Stormheart is there?

Maybe Daila and Dravis are playing games with us? It seems Dravis is power hungry and perhaps a easy prey for Ch’thon, Korvaak or maybe Aetherials in joining them.

Daila seems to handle things quite as she says in a conversation.

Than Ulgrim it seems strange that someone with his status can’t escape the void alone, or perhaps he is testing us?

Isn’t Uroboruuk their father? I mean, how many other immortal people are there who can raise the dead?

Nah, I totally buy Ulgrim’s mental breakdown in the void. He is certainly more than human, but I think of him as say, Hercules or Jason, a demigod hero - he is strong and agile and probably can survive things a normal human cannot, but he isn’t on god levels mentally. I just rescued him from the Void again and I liked how tired and vulnerable he sounds when asked whether the Loghorrean is truly dead. I like it because it makes him feel more human than say, Mogdrogen.

Well yes that’s what i meant Uroboruuk is the father of Dravis and Daila. At least that what’s being hinted ingame.

So maybe this has been brought up before

It seems not even Ravager’s backyard is immune to this guy’s presence. The fact that his altars pop up randomly makes it even more freaky. The most weird thing of all is that he is worshiped by someone who takes the time and the risk to traverse through that shithole (Gloomwald) to visit this guy’s altar (notice the flaming torches)

Also this throne can be seen right before entering Lokarr’s dimension - Edge of Reality.

Yeah it is quite obvious that someone still worships Korvaak in his original form/name. None of his altars look abandoned.
I do wonder though, what were Chthonians doing in the tomb we found his eye in?
And since we actually found an eye, does this mean Korvaak used to have a body once? Not an Avatar like Mogdrogen, but it seems he was a flesh and blood being… and judging from how that eye looked like, certainly not human.

What I understand from Uroboruuk notes at the end of Vigil quest is that this mysterious force he follows can enslave minds/entities like nothing else (his guardian). It’s possible that the Harbingers were also enslaved by these forces.

However, in the midst of battle, several of the Harbingers cornered my Guardian. I first believed they intended to destroy it; but when they exploded, a rush of Chthonic energy surged into my creation and severed our link.

It sounds to me like the chthonians are the ones who took control of the Guardian. Chthonic activity in the tomb could mean they are simply there to make sure no one from Kymon’s cult tries to obtain a piece of Korvaak.
